I mean what's the difference, leaving the Bravia Engine in mini which enhances pictures & videos.
TFT of Defy is bigger and also crisp due to much higher resolution.
Viewing angles are also better on Defy.

Approx there are 4 issues now posted there. I have already brought the unit to service center and still they cannot fix it. I have already emailed SE about this, still no response.

The Defy is indeed a very good phone, but how many people are willing to root their phone and void their warranty on such an expensive device? Also, the screen is much larger and has much better resolution, but quality-wise, the screen on the mini is much better (in terms of contrast, and colour). Also, the snapdragon chipset is much more powerful as compared to the TI OMAP in the Defy. Also, the SAR value in the defy is rather high (I am bothered by this, but most others are probably not). In this price range, the defy was my first choice, but the absence of future updates stopped me from buying it. I wanted a phone, which did not have to be rooted, and modded just to make it work day-to-day. That is why I chose the mini.

Defy has a much larger screen than Mini(3.7 Vs 3) with much higher resolution(480x854 Vs 320x480)
Its processor is underclocked(At 800Mhz) & can be easily Overclocked(to 1Ghz or even 1.2Ghz) without any problems.
Defy is more Durable than Mini, has larger Battery(1540mah), higher Internal memory 2GB opposed to 320MB of SE Mini.
Camera in Defy is 5MP though without 720p video capture, which not everyone care about.
Defy is also a small sized phone. Its smaller than most of the 3.2 inchers.
All this in not much higher price than mini(Mini:Rs.13200 Defy:Rs.14500 ).
The only question is do you like Motoblur & can live with Froyo or not.
One can wait for Defy+ but it will also cost more at launch(Atleast Rs.16000). It will bring Gingerbread, 1Ghz Processor, even larger battery(1700mah) & new Motoblur UI.
Mini is also a good phone but I think 3 inch Screen will not be sufficient for me.

I was browsing the net and the marketplace for 45 mins, no significant heat then either. I was on a call for 30 mins, only then the phone heated up quite a bit, but could not get the problem I saw in the video. Please tell me which EXACT game are you playing which causes the vibrating problem and causes the capacitive buttons to malfunction.

With conservative usage (10 mins of calls, few messages, half an hour of net a day, it easily lasts over 2.5 days). If you want to use a lot of net, then it won't be a problem, as long as you charge it every night. The battery consumption is the same as any other android. The CPU, GPU, awesome screen and beautiful design make this the most VFM phone in this price range.

android_fan, 17 Sep 2011this phone has great specs however i just found a good phon... moreThe mini uses the Snapdragon 2nd Gen MSM8255 chipset, with a 1GHz CPU, and an Adreno 205 GPU. The Fire uses a low quality MSM7227 chipset, overclocked to 800Mhz (same as the galaxy ace), and an Adreno 200 GPU. The mini is twice as powerful as the fire, and its screen is one of the best I have ever seen. It easily beats the fire, even with a smaller screen. Also, the mini will get the ice cream sandwich update, whereas moto is not known to provide updates too much.

this phone has great specs however i just found a good phone with almost similar specs motorola fire xt.
pros for xperia mini - better processor (1 ghz as compared to 800mhz for motorola), sony bravia engine, better video recording
pros for motorola fire xt - 3.5 inch screen, better battery, secondary camera.
I am a bit confused which one to buy now. They are priced almost the same. Please let me know if someone has more info about motorola fire.
