well thez two apps are the main suspects .. Task killer and antivirus apps dont usually go well with any Xperia ..some ppl faced restarting problem coz of the antivirus provided ..lots of problem with task killers too

you should uninstall both apps .. hmm well not really your phone is like ur laptop .. if you use it for like hours it will slow down and ultimately you will have to restart .. same case with Android ( a little more with Xperia's ) sony's memory management sucks totally

AnonD-29280, 27 Mar 2012do you use facebook app alot ?? or tell me what apps do ... moreI do use Facebook but only once or twice in a day. I do kill the app by going to the "Running Services" and understand that its a big resource hog. The apps I use currently are AVG Antivirus pro, App Lock, Apps to SD, Beautiful Widgets, Camera Zoom FX, EX Dialer, ezPDF reader, FB, GPS Test, Skype, Swiftkey X, Watchdog lite, NavFree, smart tools, Angry Birds Space and Asphalt 6 (only a casual gamer, once in a week). Talking about my usage, I mostly use the Gmail app to manage my e-mails and there are other apps that keep running in the background. Just for info sake, I have downloaded the new Xperia S home Launcher and other widgets from XDA and use them, however the lag issue started way before that. I am not claiming that the lag happens every time, but its pretty evident in day to day usage. From what I see, Android devices are pretty snappy at first buy slow down as time progresses. This is my 3rd Droid and I am observing the same pattern. Is that so?
@Anon - Less fragmentation is the biggest advantage of iOS but its due to the fact that they have to take care of handful of devices unlike Android. iPhone prices are astronomically high and I simply can't put that sort of money on a device. This is the first time I am planning to buy a device around 30k range but would still settle for an EMI. I just wanna buy something that lasts me 1 to 2 years. I understand the tech keeps changing ever other day but my salary doesn't he he he. Thanks for the replies though :)

AnonD-3247, 27 Mar 2012Hi Sbdevilmind, I have used Symbian 60 in the past and do u... moreWell, an iPhone 4S costs 45k. So if you can go for that then definitely you can buy a quad core android which in fact will cost 10k less. Main problem with iPhone is that Apple is yet to start manufacturing plants in India. This very reason makes iPhone very expensive as the sellers has to pay custom duties while importing.
IPhone in my opinion is better than any Android phone because they have almost zero fragmentation. This in turn lets app developers to make apps that are 100% compatible with the phone with full hardware acceleration. Because they only have to make their app compatible for only a single device.
Android app developers on the other hand needs to make apps that are universal. Hence they can't fully utilize the full hardware capabilities of a certain device. But if an app developer say that his app is Snapdragon MSM8255 optimized, then you can bet that its responsiveness will match that of iOS apps.
So, you can't really blame this phone for the lags. Cause maybe the apps, Widgets etc running in the background or foreground on this phone is not fully optimized. Hence a bit of lag while switching or minimizing is expected.
As far as advanced user thingy goes, I am same as you. Don't know to root, although know the benefits and the technical stuffs behind it. Am not interested either as I am waiting for ICS. But eventually I will, because the auto brightness thing just annoys me. Rooting will let Auto Brightness disable apps to work.

About the iOS part, I did mention that I'd hate to do that and I am an Android fan. I don't have deep pockets to buy a Quad Core device nor do I require it with the kind of utilization I have with my devices. I just wanted to know if people are facing the same issues as I am. When I talk about lag, its the transition from one screen to another that I am talking about. Shouldn't a 1GHz phone be enough to manage these tasks? That's what I though when I decided to buy Neo V but to be honest, I am disappointed. Its just a mere opinion that I wanted to share and get some replies to know if I am doing something wrong. I do have 120-150MB ram always available which shows that I have not bombarded my phone with apps. About Android, no other OS gives you the flexibility that Android gives to customize the way we want it. Right from widgets to complete turnaround with custom rom's. Saying that, I am not a pro user, heck, I dont even know how to root an Android device though I am fully aware of the basic concept of rooting and using custom roms. Let me clarify that I am only seeking suggestions/opinions and not trying to say that its a bad device and someone shouldn't buy it. Its the best device money can buy in this range and every device, be it dual/quad core will have some or the other problems do deal with. I am only looking forward to a smooth interface which has no lags. Suggestions??
