Its a Dealer warranty which means if there is any problem or defect .. you will have to send the product to the seller/dealer... it could take months for you to get it back ..
so better go to any shop and buy Neo v from their .. bargain him as much as you can .. buying from ebay is a risk which is not worth taking

it means wen we buy xperia neo v frm ebay at just 15300 bucks we also get bill wid them in packaging and it cn be shown to se service centre and der is no need to worry. .
and we can repair fone free of cost?

btw xperia neo is also available on ebay at just 16.6 k
so its advisable to buy dis over neo v?
will sony also give icecream sandwich update to this phone and we can update phone easily frm india?

I know to flash firmwares into the EPROM.... I am talking of my experience when I bricked my former symbian once or twice.... and had to use the service center guys help. Since only they had the JAF box.

I am simply arguing at the fact that warranty of a product doesn't always rely on the bill. And definitely not on the location of purchase.
Then why not USA? if it does not depend on location ? tell me ??

As long as I have a bill, I can ask for warranty and get it too. Even if the service center people make a fuss about it. I have experience of repairing my former Nokias without showing the bill. But that doesn't mean that I didn't have one...... It's simply about gaining trust. Service center people are humans too, you know....

[deleted post]Enquire well with as many dealers as possible. The actual cost is much below rs.18000. You must get it for around 17000, or even less. But somebody here mentioned that due to overwhelming demand, its price is increased by rs.500 through out all shops in India. Even then its not 18000, Iam sure.

well guys, I agree with sbdevilmind that most of the time, you need not show the bill in the service center.
Iam using Nokia set, and encountered a problem. I took it to the nokia care without the bill. Actually now a days, every set, the imei no. is registered with the manufacturer when we buy a new set, they ask for your no. and email id. etc for the manufacturer to send tips or creating account etc. So they checked the imei and know that its under warranty, and hence repaired it free of cost. It had nothing to do with the place of purchase, bill, etc, although we may not be lucky all the time. So yes, as said by sbdevil, they'd rather focus on the set under warranty or not rather than place/mode of purchase.

They simply punch down something on the computer and the manufacturing date pops out. If the manufacturing date is beyond warranty then they give a look at the bill. And if the gap is more than a year then they reject the phone. So bill is not always necessary.
Btw, local dealers don't even write on the bill if the product has manufacturers warranty or dealer warranty. So does that mean that it has no warranty at all?

Whats the difference between the bill of a local dealer and a dealer from a different state. If you buy a phone from a nearby store and then go for warranty, you will get it. But if the same is for a dealer outside the state then they won't. Do you think they will Google to find out where the shop is? They only care about the bill, nothing more and nothing less. Buying from ebay provides a bill that had the same value as the one belonging to a nearby store. Ebay is nothing but a one stop supermarket where you can access lots of different stores. Each store is as much genuine as those that belong to one's locality. Buy something and you get the product with a bill. Although the same doesn't apply for a single person selling something.

DEALER WARRANTY - IF any problem send the phone to the dealer..
sony center guyz wont entertain you free of charge
MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY - If any problem go to sony center and they will fix it ..provided you show them the bill.. finish
I hope ppl can unerstand above few lines..
Ps- be carefull from where you buy your phone ..

And what do you mean by "the handset bought in India". We have the Samsung Focus available in India on ebay.in but Samsung doesn't sell it here. Do you mean that they would entertain a warranty claim if you go to Samsung for a repair? As I mentioned, these are handsets bought from the UK or US and "DO NOT" carry warranty of any sort. About the ways to buy it, go to a nearby shop and buy it with a bill. Flipkart and letsbuy have this phone for 18k, however you should be able to bag it for 17k. Ask yourself my friend, do you really consider the 2k worth saving against the warranty? I mean, leaving out the warranty to save the 2k could prove more costly if a repair occurs. Peace!!
