the amoled displays are similar to tft with an organic layer... thats why oled displays aren't that clear as tft suck....
so the best display technology in the mobile phone is the lcd.... when choosing a phone.... see that it has any type of lcd display.... but the only disadvantage about lcd displays is that it is a lil thicker than tfts and oleds....

The screens with 2+ cd/m2 are the bad ones, not Xperia Pro, especially given that has very bright display (brighter than Samsung GSII or HTC Sensation).

You need to look at the OVERALL performance of the display, and not just nit-pick over your pet OCD problem with the colour black*. OVERALL the display is great as far as displays go.
This display is one of the BRIGHTEST on the market that you can get - the benchmark figures back this up. It's TWICE as bright at max brightness as the much more expensive LG Optimus 2X that you quote and also brighter than your HTC.
The black levels are better than on HTC's doubly expensive FLAGSHIP Sensation phone, much better than others such as LG Optimus black and most Nokias, and similar to the iPhone. (and by the way LG bought out LG-Philips display which was known to be one of the best, so we aren't comparing with crap here). Your Desire Z may have had black blacks as its one strong trait and you were lucky if that was where your priority goes, but its display falls down in terms of brightness and overall colour accuracy by comparison. To excuse the pun, comparing displays is not a black or white issue :-P.
If you compare the Xperia Pro screen OVERALL to the WHOLE market, then it's one of the best screens that you can get. This is an objectively measured fact, and backed up by GSMArena's comments. If you have a niche goth fetish over the colour black that you want to take up with Sony Ericsson go ahead and write them an email, but by excessively moaning here over nothing you are, for no justifiable reason, just putting people off buying what is an extremely high value for money phone, that does everything that you could want, and is vastly underrated.
* and once again can I remind you that, unlike stock Android, the SE skin uses a lot of GREY in its interface - it isn't supposed to be pure black. This is also what is affecting your warped psychology.

Just tested an xperia active, much better display. Flickering under strong light as well but if the fanboys stop worshipping this fault I am sure sony will make a fix for it. xperia Active be the new phone of my daughter I think, resolution is good enough for games.

Am i the only one here who have other phones to compare my xperia pro against? My HTC display looks so damn impressive beside the xperia pro, the black is almost black, the colors are perfect, same with Optimus 2x, and then ppl come here and try to tell me that xperia pro has an excellent display??? Wow...

Just look at gsmarenas review, black is so far from black on this fone as it gets in 2011, and u come and make up a dream about a gradient?? The backlight bleed is all over the screen, even in the center. You need medical care for your fanboy head, keep your dreams to yourself man.
the other guy who say his friends are so impressed with the display, put it beside a famous bad phone like the LG Optimus 2x and see if anyone is impressed still? The LG is so superior, and its an LG, Low Grade, the worst brand ever is better than SE, is that a good thing?

Anonymous, 01 Dec 2011What about battery backup when we use internetI would say it would give upto 4-5 hours of heavy browsing..i have done a max of 1 hours continuously and the battery went from 100% to about 78%..
Guys even i have noticed that the phone heats up slightly with heavy use..
another thing i would like to comment on is the build quality..its not the best out there..its plastic..but its light because of that..the battery cover feels like its not on tightly..
