To increase battery life you could install JuiceDefender + disable data when not using + disable both options 1.Use wireless networks and 2.Use GPS satellites on My Location. I've used this on a Xperia X8 and the battery life increased from 1 day to 2 days and somethimes even more. I'm curious if that will work also on Ray.

I forgot to mention that a few years back, SE phones were big sellers too.
SE Ray's standby mode only:- 2 & 1/2 hours, 70% battery left. So do your own calculation.
Any owner / user of the Ray, pls. post your own experience.
I wish SE can see my comments & try to do something to rectify the battery issue.

bell, 06 Sep 2011oh my...i'm planning to buy this phone in few days but on w... moreTrust me, I love this phone. I finally decided not to exchange for another phone or another brand and just keep it for the time being, and wait for the Nokia N9 or iPhone5. if they are good, or wither one of them is good then I will buy them & get rid of the Ray. Too bad that the other 2 phone which I'm interested are a lot bigger than the Ray!!
SE Android phones is the most user friendly compare to any other Android OS running brand on the market.
Battery really sucks!!! ... In the past few days, I had been to different electronic store & spoken to different mobile phone dept. sales. Most of them who has frends or themselves who has owned the SE Arc; or got feedback from customers, told me that owners of Arc & collegues who owned, or who had owned the Arc also notice the battery drain very fast, the battery exhaust in a few hours too. If surving the web., then the battery will be completely empty in 2-3 hours' time.
One of the sales who I know very well told me not to trust blog opinion, because thereare SE fans who post fake information.
This mobile phone sales is using a Samsung Galaxy S2 himself. He told me that everyday hw wake up in the morning, he change the battery & leave home for work (12 houes work daily at the store), he only change his bttery everyday in the mornin before he goes to work, and there's still juice some left. I do not like Samsung phones at all - never!
The Bravia Engine of my Ray is turned off too, but just in standby only, I cannot get over 8 & 1/2 hours without even making a single call!!
Japanese are well know for electronics, but why such a disaster??!!
Sony was a high class name brand in the 80's & 90's, with all their electronic products. e.g. like their TV's, they were very expensive, Sony name mean high class, high quality product (mass production product wise). In the past, their TV can last for over 20 years without a single problem, but not anymore!!
Ericsson phone were hot stuff, and at the time, almost everyone who can afford one will want an Ericsson mobile phone,. Well Motorola was a famous brand too. Then came Samsung & Pantax (Korean name brand), then Nokia arise, with high end expensive 8801, 8850, all the 8 serious phones. Then Apple produce 3G & then 3Gs, but not that great; not until iphone4 made a big hit world wide. Now that at the present moment, Samsung SGSII is "The Phone" ... at least for the time being.
let's wait & see the next wave of battle.
Bravia Engine on or off does not affect the battery standby time much if you do not use the camera or for image in standby. I nhave the feeling that there must be something not right about the hardware SE use, or there are problems with their battery. Why SE do not rectify the problem? Do they test their phone modle before they release it on the market??!!
Even thew SE promotor admit to me that their new generation SE Android phones drain battery eatremely fast. The Samsung promotor who was there in the store was surprised by my bad experience with the Ray's standby time / battery life.
Arc has got Auto flash, but not the Ray. Material & build quality ray is better.

Awesome! Finally a smaller quality smart phone!! :D
Had a super experiance with the x10. 1 1/2 with heavy web usage and lots of calls. Only thing you have to be aware of is all the apps you get some of them really drain your battery! Not the phone the apps!

Had a play around with this phone at my local Carphone Warehouse and I have to say initially I was impressed with the specs of the Ray but not very impressed with the phone after usage. I can't comment much about the battery talk time but according to the Ray the screen was using up to 85% of the battery while other systems like Android OS was around 2% maybe significantly reducing brightness and turning of the Bravia Mobile Engine will increase talk time. Compared to other smartphones the touchscreen did not feel as responsive as it should be but what really made me walkaway from the phone was the home button in the middle of the phone stopped working during usage of the internet. No matter how hard I pressed I couldn't close it down, not a good start for the Ray!

Hey buddies! Relax, you've got the phone from couple of days and you can't judge whether the battery life is good or not. For example, Arc's battery lasted for few hours in the first days of exploit and after that ( couple of weeks, power saving hints, 2.3.2 -> 2.3.3 etc. ) it could make it for 2-4 days with normal usage. So don't panic, a bunch of reviews are on the way i think and the battery life will be discussed thoroughly.Best wishes, Ray-Fan.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2011Sorry it's a pity. Xperia ray again? I have been holding th... moreI really like this phone because of the size which gives a good grip when handling phone calls. Also, one hand operation is possible.
I only have 2 complain with this phone:
1. Battery
2. Small fonts (to comfortable to read)
