hi, has anyone here able to connect to internet via mobile data for internet browsing in xperia ray? I have consulted my mobile operator and it seems prob is on the unit. a colleague of mine has the same prob as mine. I am in a 3g/hsdpa coverage area but the signal bars indicator doesn't show this. I have selected both gsm or wcdma. my friends in my neighborhood can connect but using samsung phone. please share experience or setup tip if any. ty!

ray has 8mp camera. but ace plus 5mp cam.
ray-297ppi. bt ace plus 158ppi.
ace plus dosent has secondary cam. bt ray has.
ray has more bigger battery than ace plus.
ace plus dosent has Corning Gorilla Glass.
ray has higher res. than ace plus.
bt ray is smaller than ace plus.
ray cant upgradable to jb. bt ace plus can.
so i'll wait for ur choise.
xperia ray is the best phone in that price range.

best phone i have ever used. long battery life. slim and prefect built quality. 8mp camera is soo great. but no auto flash. it is the only problem that phone has. no lags in ics. when playing games phone heat 42-44 digrees. best phone in that price range. love sony! but no jb!

I had this telephone for a year, from Oct 2011 to Sep 2012. I chose it because of the small size.
When I got it, it restarted very often, you understand this when the telephone asks for the SIM pin code. On an airport in Munchen once when I tried to connect to WiFi, it restarted continuously for perhaps 10 minutes. But suddenly in early 2012, the restarts disappeared. There was a SW update (still Android 2.3) but it came later. During 2012, the phone only restarted perhaps once every two months so not so bad. I upgraded to Android 4 and it still restarted once or twice after that. I heard rumours of HW problems, something with the power stabiliser so it might not have been a SW problem.
The radio is not very good, much worse connectivity in my home compared to the old Nokia I had before (same operator and network).
The GPS was good in the beginning but later it started to take longer and longer for it to get a position. Perhaps this is normal behavior for GPS and I was just lucky the first couple of times.
The camera is great. Hi resolution, great image quality. The best feature of the phone.

Iam using it now!!! Best phone ever with its price!! Im using it with gingerbread because it is fast! I love the camera!! Sometimes it lags but its not a big deal, most of the time it performs well! :-) long battery life! :-) its 2 months old already, :-) you will never regret to buy it! It is very easy to hold! Its light! Feel free to ask anything! :) God bless!

Someone has created a petition to Sony for upgrading 2011 Xperias to Jellybeans and I had posted the link here. But seems it has been deleted. Don't know why.
So please just Google "xperia 2011 jellybeans petiton" and sign the petition. And try not to consider a Sony as your next phone unless Sony releases a stable and relatively bug free JB... or even ICS for that matter!!
Sony's current development team must be a real pathetic lot.

Xperia Ray is a Great phone great spec for its range and great display. All we need or All I need is great successor Its time to evolve the XPERIA RAY to XPERIA RAY II with: 4.1-4.3 diplay SOLED-Sony oled display with PIXEL EYES tech. plus HD Screen with mobile bravia engine 2. dual core or quad. walkman app and mega bass equalizer, cyber shot technology with 14.1 megapixel. thats all plsssss SONY make Xperia RAy II with the same design plsss or rather evolve the xperia ray :). it can beat the Iphone 5 or any smartphone out there

I saw my friend using iphone4 with cracked screen, cracked a lot - you can bearly see through...he doesnt mind! With screen protector and silicon case i can be care free about phone! It can even drop down, slide on street and it will probably stay protected. So every person have priorities - my is protected and carefree usage of phone. For someone it is visible design and not deminished screen view (not ever few percent).
When you dont have a lot of money to buy another phone, you must protect and care as much as posible the current one... ;)

Ica, 22 Oct 2012Screen can get scratched with substance that is harder that... moreIndeed. But if you are careful, there should be no need for a screen protector esp. on scratch resistant glass. I have phones with no screen protectors which have remained scratch free for years. Issue with screen protectors is that they can diminish the touch experience and visual appeal to a small extent, depending on quality.

Ofcourse there are all kind of types of screen with warious degree of resistance to scratches...And, on everyone it is recomended to put screen protector. So when it get scratched its cheeper to replace than screen. And on screen that is alredy scratched you can put screen protector and it will fill in the scratches so it will "wanish"...liquid that makes screen protector stick to screen fills scratches.
Every screen will get "usage" scratches if nothing else - no mater what. Because it will sure come in contact with sand, coins, keys, floor, fingers,...
