AnonD-11726, 21 Oct 2012And I don't understand you. All screens are not alike. That... moreScreen can get scratched with substance that is harder that screen - for example sand from beach. Ofcourse there are all kind of types of screen with warious degree of resistance to scratches...And, on everyone it is recomended to put screen protector. So when it get scratched its cheeper to replace than screen. And on screen that is alredy scratched you can put screen protector and it will fill in the scratches so it will "wanish"...liquid that makes screen protector stick to screen fills scratches.
Every screen will get "usage" scratches if nothing else - no mater what. Because it will sure come in contact with sand, coins, keys, floor, fingers,...

Ditto about the phone body - some are much more scratch resistant than others. And if you are careful, there should be no scratches. My factory installed screen protector has no visible scratches even after 3-5 months.
As far as Sony goes, they have installed the screen protector so well, people don't realize that its there and think its the glass that has scratched easily. Sony is partly to blame for not mentioning anywhere that it comes pre-installed.

Sony is not going to upgrade the 2011 xperia line anymore like to jelly bean or whatsoever..and with the current ics software the phone has become slower. The best way to upgrade your phone now is to install a custom rom.

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2012I believe the Ray comes with a screen protector already, th... moreHahaha! Thats no screen protector, thats factory package, like you get on dvd player, external dvd burner etc. Thats some kind of folium that you know its new. Screen protector is harder plastic i think. Thats not so easy to scratch, and last for months...Only thing it car ruin it is if you lift it up and dust comes under it. Then you get bubbles and visible dust under... You must even be carefoul when applayng for first time - clean table, clean hands, no wind, everything dust free...even then you could ruin 2-3 screen protectors until you learn how to apply it perfectly. And it must be applyed perfectly in first attempt! Only thing you can maybe remove small bubbles with some credit card or something like that...push it to borders...but if you are carefoul there is no bubbles.
Here are tipps for applying:
1. dust free everything (phone, package of screenprotector, desk, hands...dust it twice)
2. Open package, touch it less as posible
3. Put phone in front of you, dust free, crystal clear screen
4. Peel of DOWN side od screenprotector, take it for edges with both hands (less as posible). Do not touch down surface
5. Firstly apply upper side of phone, touch phone with tippso of fingers that hold screenprotector to stabilize...and go gradualy to down of phone..Maybe bend screen protector in curve while applying.
6. Push bubles out if any. DO NOT LIFT UP screen protector, maybe just edges a litle bit if needed
So thats that. Key thing is put it just in place where you need it - in milimeters. So do it while while watching from up, position your fingers on phone edges while holding with same fingers screenprotector. Do not go at onece rather from up to down gradualy. So you can watch progress and go a bit back if needed.
If you screw up - thats ok, firs is for practice anyway! :D

Ica, 19 Oct 2012Every screen is scratchable - more or less...Whole phone is... moreI believe the Ray comes with a screen protector already, that is what is being scratched "easily".
If you can peel it off, it is the original screen protector- just replace it with another one.

According to article on Mashable, Sony says -
“After thorough evaluation, we have concluded [these models] will not be upgraded beyond Ice Cream Sandwich,” said Sony Mobile in a blog post, promising to keep supporting these products with firmware upgrades.
And we all know about the quality about Sony's upgrades. They have botched up ICS update as everyone knows and have not even addressed very basic bugs till date. Nor have they given any timeline for addressing the same. Now they have denied Jellybeans. Perfect. I don't think my next phone will be a Sony.

AnonD-75793, 19 Oct 2012Is it really scratching easily? :(Every screen is scratchable - more or less...Whole phone is actualy one big screen...so use screen protectors. You dont see it if it is from edge to edge - even reduces glare, and decrese smudges and it is easy to clean than whithout protector.
Even if you are carefoul there would be usage scratches, from fingernail, fingers, pocket, cleaning,...
I dont understand you people - put there screen protector (you get 5 for 1$) and change if damaged. One can get up to 1 year or more.
Ofcourse that screen is scratchabe - what do you expect!? Seriously!? Next thing you will be supprised to get wet in the shower...!?!?

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2012The phone IS Great. But..
Scratch resistant Display Must b... moreThat is why people use screen protectors - thers on ebay like 6 pack for 1$ or something like that...So put screen protector on your screen and i belive that liquid that "glues" screen protector would fill in your scraches and it yould be like new. Choose screenprotector something from edge to edge (left-right), maybe 1-2mm space...and thet also use silicon case. Now your screen protector would not lift up, and if you drop phone, battery would stay in, and grip is better, also it protect phone if you drop it.
Whithout those two, my phone is like nude. Sreen protector is must have - because it reduces glare, smudges, and it is easy to wipe. Also, there is no scratches even on screenprotector!
Whithout silicon case, if dropped battery pops out, grip is somewhat reduces so phone could easy slip out of hand...
And since phone is slim people ask me why didnt I get silicon case - and when closer look, oh - you did get silicon case! :)

pav, 19 Oct 2012Hiii all,i am using xperia ray for 10 months with 4 gb memo... moreIf you upgrade to ICS you must know that phone would be somewhat slower, lag noticable sometimes, bugs etc.
For stability and speed - stay on gingerbread! Read some comparisons ICS vs Gingerbread - in my opinion there is no need for ICS on Ray, because on Ray it is not how it should be! But gingerbread is everithing you need and more!
