To all X1 OWNERS...
Do your contact's names/numbers show on incoming calls? Mine is always "unknown number" and whenever I miss a call I have no idea who it was.
Thanks in advance

Anonymous, 12 May 2009Do you even own an Xperia before saying these things... Xpe... moreI've had the Xperia for about 1 month now. It's absolutely a wonderful phone. Sure there are other smartphones out there that pound for pound may give more features...but do I need them? A phoen is outdated the day after it comes out anyway, so you can't worry about that. This gives me what I want 1) a sophisticated/rich looking phone 2) nice features 3) somewhat exclusivity (not as common as blacberry or iPhone, and I hate having soemthing everybody has 4) Everyone who sees it say "oooooh"
My only issue so far is that sometimes when you receive a call and you try to save the phone number I get an error report and I opt to send it to windows update. Hopefully a software upgrade or windows patch can fix that. And the speakers could be a little louder. But it's not too much of an annoyance now as it doesn't happen a lot.
But overall, great phone. Best looking Qwerty phone, and X-Panels are wonderful. The name Xperia definitely emans xperience...I learn something new everyday. The only thing I would trade up to over this right now is the Sony Ericsson IDOU (which was my 1st choice) but it's not available yet. I may get it about 6-12 months after it's out so they can fix any bugs and hopefully the price will adjust somewhat because it's gonna be quite pricy..the 12MP Camera on it alone will cost you. Sony Ericsson for life!!!!

Dont worry, SE have thought about this.
Once you remove your phone's battery cover, take the stylus out. This will expose a small hole which has the reset button. Use the stylus to press it.

Jahbs, 12 May 2009Is this phone SKYPE compatable????Skype have a Windows Mobile version. So any phone that runs on Winmo can use Skype, not only the X1.
Yes, on the X1, you do have a Skype Panel too, which I personally did not find much useful. But otherwise the Skype app itself is good and have used it succesfully to make audio calls over 3G/HSDPA. Unfortunately no video calling support yet and no SMS. I didn't try making calls to a normal phone, but heard that is blocked here in UK.

Does SE phones' price even depreciate??? their phones are too expensive here in the Philippines. No wonder, more people prefer Nokia. So disappointing...

Been a while since I checked this forum and posted any message. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know about something.
I recently updated the software version of my X1 (which has GENERIC_UK ROM) to R2AA010 using the Sony Ericsson Update Service.
I use SPB Backup to regularly backup my device (which creates a file on the SD card). So I knew I could restore from the most recent backup. So all was good. SEUS took it's own sweet time to update the software.
After that, I started restoring the data. It started well, but in a few minutes reported an error, something on the lines of "Restore not fully successful". I tried restoring it again, same problem.
The next time I thought I'll do a selective restore (thank god this was allowed - and thanks to SPB Backup). I selected the contacts and calls, and a few apps (not all of them). This time it worked fine. Then I restored a few more apps, it worked. But the next batch of apps failed. Reason was that the phone's memory got full.
So then I realized why the first full-restore failed. Apparently the new R2 software takes up more memory than R1, and so left less for other data/apps. My suggestion to anyone thinking of upgrading their phone would be to uninstall any unnecessary/unused apps, and then make a backup, which probably could be fully restored.
Hope this helps.
Besides, I have to say I didn't find much difference in the use. It probably boots up a little faster now, and responds to the click to dismiss the notification which you get when you send an SMS.
But two problems that I still see exist are:
1. Bluetooth not always connecting to the car handsfree
2. The right hard button changes back to after a while, from anything else you might set it to.
Tried the new version of XperiaTweak. It's a nice simple, but useful tool.
Regards,
Ray UK
