mobile man, 16 Mar 2009to all those who still keep bringing this phone down. Q:... moreHi Mobile Man....thks for your truthful comments and i do personally agree with what you've said.and if you dont mind could you just have a chk on you xperia if you could stream 'youtube' on yours.it should have been no problem at all to play it as the manual stated.but unfortunately i cannot play on mine as it would say 'no network' everytime the livemedia is still on buffering.i dont know what it could be the problem.thks in advance. cheers

to all those who still keep bringing this phone down.

Q:a few questions? have you ever used a windows mobile operated handset before?
A:it can be quite hard to get used to if your a newbie.

Q:when you use the internet on the handset or any function that involves data usage and an internet connection do you manually disconnect it afterwards?
A:any windows mobile operated device runs different from other handsets, just like a pc you need to manually disconnect the internet or it will keep running in the background and drain your bettery fatser.

these seem to be the main issues people are leaving bad comments for.

this phone is fantastic in all functions and if you had taken the time to read the review on use the phone and actually get used to it and read the manual to make sure you are using it properly you would have a much better experience.

all in all every mobile phone is as good as the next if it does what you want it to do, what you all need to understand is something called the mobile market which is aimed at satisfying the needs of each individual so just because one phone doesnt suit you doesnt mean it wont suit someone else.

i'm not denying anyone freedom of speech but before you start bad mouthing a phone because you are scared of it because you dont understand it just think about what ive said.

      peace to all.

Well, X1 is an SE model so it is SE responsibility to make sure it is reliable etc. even if it is manufactured at HTC.

Sagem also makes SE phones - probably that would have been a better choice.

At least SE realized the mistake and announced that they will not contract HTC for the next model.

        Better late than never :)

When nokia fanboyz had nothing new to talk about as nokia had nothing new to offer except some old packed junk, now the nokia fans are comparing other brands with SE, but what ever brand you talk about SE technology is much advanced. SE = “would Soon Expire nokia & rest of the brands”.

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2009No wonder: Htc touch HD, touch pro, touch dual 3G, cruise, ... moreI agree!

It was very obvious at the time of release that this phone should have been recalled!

But SE failed to do that.
Many SE fans got burned who waited a year for the release.
BTW, the initial price was 1100 USD. now it is 600 but also offered for free with a cheap contract.

The best thing about this fiasco is that people got the message and nobody get it except some hardcore SE fans or PR staff.
There is no point to carry around a phone which unreliable.

No wonder: Htc touch HD, touch pro, touch dual 3G, cruise, Samsung Omnia, LG Renoir ,etc are all much better and readily found in every mall at a cheaper price unlocked, or at a minimal fraction of the price if subsidized by a carrier.
All carriers refused to offer the X1 subsidized, even though they readily give away all kind of smartphones, MIDs and netbooks (from 9 to 12 inches) to anyone signing for 6 months mobile breadband, because of reliability concerns.
A recent review on one of the most autoritative scandinavian tech blogs named the worst win mobile smartphone on the market today.
SE and HTC are quarrelling about who's fault it is that what had been heralded one year ago as a superphone turned out to be a superturd, but the only smart move SE could do to save what's left of its shattered credibility would be to recall all this pieces of overpriced junk and get to work on something that actually works.

˝X1 is one of the biggest flop of 2008!˝

˝It may have been the most eagerly awaited telephone of the year... and it may well have been the most disappointing telephone of the year, too. Introduced in February with (almost) operational prototypes, the phone has only just become available in stores. Its “revolutionary” Windows Mobile interface was not only slow, but it also wasn’t any more functional than other operating systems from HTC, Samsung or Asus. And since there’s only one Windows Mobile model from Sony Ericsson, developments for the proprietary interface, quite naturally, are scarce. What was supposed to be the ultimate smartphone is at best only passable, and at worst a total failure.˝

uWxq: ˝650$ gone down the drain, SE your fate is same as was P990i it took 2years to correct but only updates improve performance not hardware or internal memory.
995 should be immediately launched otherwise SE will go broke.
I promise never to buy SE product until they change high launch prices and R&D department before final launch.˝

It seems a good policy. Announce models that looks good on paper and by the time they are known to be lousy announce another.

DrSaM, 14 Mar 2009my friend has this phone and it sucks!!! its slow and it... moreI agree Sam,

For some reason SE was unable to get this model to run well.

The release was delayed for almost a year but even after all that delay it is still far from a finished product.

Beside the slowness the most annoying is the unreliable reception.

As far as the price - well that one I do not care about.
It is offered free, but still. I do not see any reason to get an X1 which does not work well.
