I currently have P990 and am looking forward to buying X1 coz i'm really a fan of touchscreen communicators. I know that P990 was a poor phone according to the majority but I am using it without issue since 2+ yrs.
If u want an all in one then just go for X1 but u might be a bit disappointed about its camera performance. According to gsmarena its camera is not as good as its overall performance is. Smartphones usu. lag in camera performance when compared to dedicated camera phones (smartphones tend to be on the slower side). But it might be just my opinion. And u can also check out nokia 5800 if u can do without a hw qwerty. You can see that new phones with similar features are being offered by other brands and maybe the price drops further.

This ones for Mr Ray UK.
dude im in love with the looks n all of the phone but as someone who has never used WM, whats the learning curve like?
Also would something from the HTC Touch series be a better option because of TF 3D?
How much has the new firmware improved the phone esp the camera as i take a lot of pics?
Buying it would sure as hell burn a mighty hole in my pocket so i really would like to know if its worth it. Dont want it to drive me bonkers within a week like some of the other who have posted here. Really want a good touch screen phone thatll be used mostly for surfing the web, pics, emails and maybe typing short docs on the go. Ur posts seem to have the most info in them so pls help. thanks in advance

Sony Ericsson IMEI, 20 Feb 2009hi, i am just wondering wht does IMEI number do?
for ex... morethe imei or international mobile equipment identity is a unique serial number per phone, and when you report your phone lost/stolen your provider bars this number, and enters that bar against the national register. meaning if the IMEI is barred, no sim card will work in that phone.
hope this helps

Eddy, 19 Feb 2009
For thous who own one:
- Is it the battery life as goo... moreEddy,
If you make 3-4 calls a day, for 5-19 mins... you have massive range... from 15mins for the day to 76mins.
So how could anyone say how long the battery would last? But just to guess, about an hour's call each day, the battery should last a few days - probably 4 days. But I haven't taken any other usage into account - wifi, web browsing/emailing using HSDPA/3G, FM radio.
My usage is a bit different. I use wifi, bluetooth, HSDPA/3G, FM, play Sudoku. The battery lasts about a day, which I think is alright for my kinda usage.
Now, about your question "Does the screem looks strong enough for the everyday use?".
It all depends on what you mean by "everyday use". If you dropped some old bulky phones on your floor, they'll most likely survive with little scratches. For some Nokia phones, you just would need to change the fascia and it'll be as good as new. Not this one. Any impact on a hard floor would quite possibly mean a call to your insurance company.
Also, if you are in the habit of having your phone in your pocket with some coins and keys... I'd suggest you change your habit. Touchscreen phones don't really like to have other stuff (esp metallic stuff) around them :-)
Oh btw, do you like the number 19 too much? ;-)

Rushy Man, 19 Feb 2009Great Concept, excellent build quality, fiddly experience w... moreDon't understand why you shouldn't buy the X1 if you want your Wifi, Bluetooth and 3G working. I'm using the X1 for about 3 months and I always have the 3G network, so maybe you got an issue with your network provider? And the bluetooth works all the time as well. Wifi:Don't know, I never use it because I already have an internet blox on my phone.
Battery life: if I make a lot of calls and use the internet all day long it lasts at least 2 days. If I don't use the internet for about 4 days.
