The more I use it the more I like it. It is best pocket pc since pocket pcs hit the market If you can't make up your mind between different phones, get the Xperia.

    > In reply to Pepsi @ 2009-01-17 04:41 from v0gj and I agree with you...I understand the context in which you are using the word smashing. Thanks for confirming the obvious. The Xperia X1 is indeed a smashing Windows Mobile phone. :-)

                This phone font size is just too small in most of the features. Not a choice for one that need reading glasses.

                        You know what this phone is good for?

                          I guess expectations are different for some people.

                          Some people happy with the X1 and some are very disappointed. I guess the reference also important.

                          If someone did not have a good phone since 1999 :) well that case X1 may be a fantastic phone :)

                          Typical complaints:

                          - reception problems (GSM and WiFi!)
                          - battery: poor performance, overheating
                          - cracked case

                          - low ring volume
                          - lousy speaker
                          - poor camera

                          http://www.slashgear.com/sony-...ing-2927945/

                          You type in cracked case X' into a search and you will see...

                          - slow performance
                          - hang ups

                          and some even go further:

                          ˝˝ The Biggest High-Tech Flops Of 2008 ˝˝

                          Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

                          ˝˝It may have been the most eagerly awaited telephone of the year... and it may well have been the most disappointing telephone of the year, too. Introduced in February with (almost) operational prototypes, the phone has only just become available in stores. Its “revolutionary” Windows Mobile interface was not only slow, but it also wasn’t any more functional than other operating systems from HTC, Samsung or Asus. And since there’s only one Windows Mobile model from Sony Ericsson, developments
                          for the proprietary interface, quite naturally, are scarce. What was supposed to be the ultimate smartphone is at best only passable, and at worst a total failure.˝˝

                            Got my silver X1i silver now 10 days and would like to mention a few things:

                            Very good phone, solid and I like the metal finish
                            Camera not to bad. The picture quality is actually good (if taken in the correct light). Only problem is it takes forever to take a photo!
                            Battery life is good.
                            Screen colour and display are superb! My only problem with the screen compared to my (old) SE W950i is that the X1 is not as sensitive as the W950 (probable because the X1 is more thumb-friendly). I have aligned the screen, but not much of an improvement. But, when I uses the styles with Notes, the ‘drawing’ is more precise than with the W950.
                            Most of the applications can be used with your thumb, but about 95% of Winmo requires the styles.
                            The touch-pad is nice and sensitive enough.
                            LED’s on the side is a bit of a let-down. You can hardly see them in daylight and their default blinking time is only 5 min (Tweak2 installed, can change colours and time). But when it’s a bit darker, you can see the LED’s for miles and know if there is a miscall, sms etc.
                            Mostly use Internet Explorer, Opera is a bit annoying for me.
                            Programmes installed: Tweak2, .Net Configuration 3.5( in order for Xperia Bluetooth to work), Xperia Bluetooth (not great program, only saves you one click to activate BT) , G-alarm (a must have), SK Tools, SPB Shell, Slideshow Panel and some others. Want to install some more over the next two weeks or so.
                            Sound quality: ear piece is very good, onboard speaker is average.
                            Only used the GPS only once to see if it works, but I will rather stick with my trusty Garmin.
                            It took me about 5 days to get used of Winmo. In the beginning it was difficult to find some setting etc. but with SK Tools, Tweak2 etc. etc, I know now about 80% where to find the settings and what they all do.
                            I love the keyboard, it is a pleasure typing on it (OK, haven’t used any other, but still). Texting is bliss on this phone.
                            Here is a tip: if anybody ask to see your phone, just show them it is an ARC SLIDER phone. Some people actually tried to ‘open’ my phone, thinking there is a hinge at the back. Almost damaged my phone!

                            Overall: this is so far the best phone I had since 1999. It is a bit heavy (compared to my previous phones, SE W950, SE S700, Nokia, Nokia, Nokia), but you get use to it in a few days. The battery outperforms the W950 by about a day. Personally I will recommend this phone to anybody who wants more than just a make-and-end-call phone.

                            Does anybody know what all numbers in the ROM 1.02.175.3 represents?
                            1 =?
                            .02 =final version (not prototype)?
                            .175 =carrier software version?
                            .3 =ROM version 3?

                                Hai All, i have got X1 one month before, the phone is good in feature, but big issue with ear speaker and network receiving. Other person could able to hear my voice crystal clear but i am not able to hear other person voice at my end in X1.
