Anonymous, 02 Nov 2008People vote who never even seen the unit. The X1 is out... moreNah, Motorola looks promising, towards the 2nd half of 09... so far away...

anyway, they are releasing some android phones and some with WM6.5.

their first half looks really bad, and given their current situation, those who say SE is near bankruptcy should check out Motorola.

Umair, 02 Nov 2008According to voting results this phone should be on the top... morePeople vote who never even seen the unit.

The X1 is out in several different countries now. Potential users can see it and try it - and buy it if they like it.

The X1 looks good on paper - only!

There are widespread reports from users that report buggy software and slow performance.

Even they complain about the battery life - obviously only owners can do that.

I am surprised because the 1500mAh battery should be more than enough - but I guess something was screwed up during the design (or manufacturing)

The X1 release was delayed over and over again - it is a clear indication of some serious problems.

I am sure the X2 will be out soon, with the new OS, new CPU, and better battery.

As far as the bashing - there is no point to do that!

Good competition is good for all of us: push the price down and elevate the performance and quality.

I wish there would be more competition to Iphone and Omnia coming from SE, Motorola, etc.

BTW, what the heck Motorola has been doing recently? (nothing) after their huge hit with V3.

I think SE should let Sony Vaio to make the ultimate phone which can be used as a alternative to laptops. I think Vaio got technology and experience. It could be expensive but hey if you can pay $800 for xperia ...why not???

                Latest X1 review from singapore

                http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?cid=24&id=2726&pg=1

personally, I like X1 due to its metalic body which I seldom see from other Window Mobile phone..
and next weekend I will have my hand on this baby during the road show..

I will make sure I tested everything before I decided to buy ..

But I will buy during christmas sales so the price will be cheaper...

                  the black one ;)
and for all other ppl :
look at the stats and make your conclusion.
everyone with clear sence of mind will see the opinion box flooded by ppl who are nokia/apple/i900/... fans trying to break the phone.
i have it in real life not imaginated, friends of mine have the other phones.
1 thing is for sure. bluetooth is better on the x1 so is i-net because of the HDSPA.
                  (typed on an x1 xD)

"the X1 is a ´mess´as many users already experienced it.

No need to rely on pro-reviewers any more! Sony has a billion USD !!!!
The phone is released users can make up there own mind!

X1 is the last nail in the SE´s coffin."

these is an opinion of a person that didn't actually get the SEX1. Just a downright basher...

Forgetting the price it sounds so far like my p990i disaster,,that took ages to come out and just would not do its job it was truly pathetic..I said earlier i am not going thru it again,,

THEY have had a team of people on this i suppose for over a year since designs were produce,,"someone said 2006 which is probably true,,"how long do you go before you call it a day on a product??why cant sony do it cause they were the people i grew up with as being the most expensive and highest priced make but you were buying high quality..If something wanted shrinking then sony would do it as the japs were masters of miniature electronics..Up to now this is the most powerful device in respect to the all in one unit and could have been a mass market leader like the n95 is..The n95 was a premium device but sold 1000 s and so could this but with these comments coming thru i am well prepared for it being the p990i all over again and i am not doing that again..These products should be fit for sale and they have had enuf time to get it right..

I am 37 in respect to growing up with sony..

I have been using P1i for a year and have no complaints. It's good value for money. Was thinking of an upgrade to X1 but the negative user reviews are shocking. Any suggestions?

Correction. I found the way to wake up the phone without using the 'on/off' button. In 'settings' there is 'keylock' so the handset can be woken using any button.

The X1 has difficulty playing a wmv file I have which is 31.5mb at 185kbps + 24 bit & audio 520kbps +16bit stereo with sample rate 48khz. It stops and resumes as it plays -I suspect the processor is too slow or there is no buffering.

Flipping between panels is much slower than hoped. Getting in and out of screens while multi-tasking is slow too (I keep expecting the software to crash).

                                  Calls.

During calls the screen turns itself off and I can only get it to come back on by pressing the square button. A plus point is that you can multi-task during a call, but as a result you can forget to close the call!

                                      Signal/Reception.

Using the phone on O2. My CyberShot gets reception all over. My X1 is not very good with getting a signal and I have to call voicemail to see if anyone has been calling. But of course, I don't have a signal so checking voicemail is a nightmare.

                                      Sound.

The sound quality of the conversation on the other end suffers from hiss/white noise and is also unclear. The ringer volume is quite low and nowhere as loud as the CyberShot.

Texting is a nightmare. It takes forever with the keyboard or on screen keyboard. It takes even longer with handwriting recognition as one spends more time making corrections than writing. The on-screen number keypad for calls which show characters cannot be used to text -this is a major design fault of the software.
