X1 was dead before its release.
I have said so weeks ago:
Do not worry the price will drop really fast!
I bet there are some problems with the unit - it has to be a reason why SE/HTC kept delaying the release. It had to be something which totally screwed the unit. Probably, they hold things up and started to work on X2 so there will not be too much time between the units and loose even more market share. It will take a few months until the X1 reputation sinks and then they put the X2 on the market.
(regular bugs can be fixed in a few months not in 7 months!)
I guess the X2 is almost ready.

I now have my X1 -in silver. The handset has a solid and quality feel to it.
I bought it from carphonewarehouse over the phone using the telephone number on their website. When the phone arrived the box had no security seals on it and it arrived without a memory card. Fortunataley I upon ordering the phone I ordered a 16gig card for £70 -but they sent me the wrong type of card (!) which I subsequently changed at one of their shops yesterday and they kept the surplus £10 on credit for me rather than doing a refund.
The panels are quite slow. The phone is very bad at getting a signal/reception (not like my Cybershot) and I have only been able to make a few calls and access voicemail a couple of times. The sound quality is not good. Sms has its own problems, there are no smilies and using the keyboad, stylus or handwriting recognition is too slow. The handwriting recognition gets it wrong most of the time and I am spending more time correcting errors than writing text. I still haven't worked out how to set the phone to silent -but it doesn't matter as no one can get through to me and their calls go onto voicemail!
When the phone is on it goes to sleep an the keys and the screen won't wake it up, instead I have to use the 'on/off' button at the top or the slider to get it going again. The screen turns itself off during a call and it is difficult to get it back on. I have not found any facility for hiding my number on outgoing calls and the speakerphone can barely be heard.
I regret getting this phone.

I so really want the X1, I work @ the carphone warehouse in the netherlands and I've been waiting for ages just to find out that in the NEtherlands, UK and Germany it can take a little longer before it comes out because there's a problem with the production of the X1.
And I sooo want one.

this is the SEs 1st windows mobile experience but the HTC was along winmob till it comes. butimnot a diehard fan im just looking for the best and i really dont know which one x1 or touch pro ?

Oh Yeah, the OS is extremely fluid unlike alot of other winmobile cells, and I should know I own 1(X1)...
P.S. I'm not trying to flame you just thought that if you give an opinion it should be fair...
As I also like the GPS receiver in the Touch Pro...

MJ, You should really look at the specs before creating misleading post the X1 is larger than HTC Touch Pro, but thinner than the Pro, at the same time...

Had a Look at one Live Today - - - WHAT THE HELL WERE SE Thinking? Touch Screen Fone with a small Screen - Dont let the 3" Fool You - Its TINY....and Keyboard Is Little. The Only thing going for it is the Size...SOFTWARE is extremely slow too.

I just would like to make the following comments as I am a user of HTC Mobile Phones and have also used Sony Ericsson Phones.
The phone looks good but thats because its an HTC Phone (Built for Sony Ericsson not by Sony Ericsson) and will always be one.
HTC has better phones than this already and will do very shortly with new models.
If Sony Ericsson cant make their own phones (Sagem makes some of the cheap end models for them) then maybe they should bow out like Siemens and others did.
Without Originality then a company grows stale and dies.
Dumping UIQ Phones and jumping on the Windows Mobile Band Wagon just shows that their frightened of the competition what was needed was a superior UIQ Phone with a much faster processor.
Oh well thats my opinion which im entitled to and of course your all entitled to your own too.
