Firstly i am one of the few loyal SE users, but i have to agree with many posts about how long it look for this phone to come out. I first read about it the day it was " Launched " way back in Feb, and got so excited convincing myeslf that this was going to be my next phone. I knew that in feb it was a preview but had expected the release to be maybe in the 2nd or even the 3rd quater of the year, but we are now in the last quarter and quiet frankly the excitement has faded and it is no longer " THE PHONE TO HAVE " is now just a good phone...with a huge pricetag. Maybe SE can launch there next great phone this Xmas and i can save for it for the release next year Xmas. Even better why doesn't SE just send a press release for a super phone (that will never come) and have all your competitors run around trying to cram all they can into a little device and beat them to the finish line.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I spoke with SE SA, they said the X1 should be released in the last to the first week in Nov. I also went to the vodastore to find out when it is going to available there. They said they cannot give me an exact date but also hoping for the 1st week in Nov. They also cannot tell me on which package it will be available, but I would be counting all my pennies to afford this baby. If you look at the rip off price of the iPhone 3G (R3300 once off then R450pm cheapest contract), and compare features the X1 should be 3x the price.

To early to release, please withdraw and cancel as P5 already done. SE price and stability with hype created will have knock down effect on lovers,be realistic in releasing all over the world at once or waitanother six months to mass produce, probally chinese are efficent n this. Even Hp unknown has intro as par cells name any company. WM Os will look same as 5 years ago n imate series with cosmetic changes n 6.1. Mind you diehards will repent wait after first update to benefit from both price and stability.World recession in all fields will definately show fruits.

This phone was for the 2008 market not for 2009.

It is too late now! It will be TOTALLY outdated in 4-6 months.

SE will outprice it from the market 900-1000USD is just unrealistic even in a good economy.

Realistic price considering the competition is around 500-550 USD.

Os selection is another mistake by SE!

This phone is amazing. The only downside is the OS. This phone has a very slow interface, according to several reviews. I wonder why SE won't use their own version of Symbian on this phone? Windows Mobile isn't that great...

This phone was great, when it was announced nearly a year ago. Too bad SE just had to drag its release date till every other devices in the market catches up. With a 17cm thickness, so-so camera and specs, SE will need to price this device lower than their expectations for it to be competitive, dont u all think so?

Li-Po 1500 mAh battery should be okay for this device.

Only concern could be that it is Li-Po which is nice but previously there was some manufacturing /reliability problems with these (another model).

Hopefully, this time it will be good.

I certainly suggest not to get the first units for several reasons:

                            - reliability (bugs, battery etc.)
                            - price will drop fast

If you can leave with the 17mm thickness and the unit is reliable the X1 may be a good choice for you.
(and willing to pay extra ;)

                            Enjoy!

Does anyone know about battery life of this monster?.....i know high-end devices like this use to much energy and have to be recharged SE are good with batteries so i hope it last a good amount of time without recgharging. And also the keyboard is it stable? Cause i don't want it to break after 2 months of useage.I know it's not on the market yet but maybe someone has any info about this.

And tell him/her that instead of gossip tech data, SE should publish basic tech data on their website and PR release.

By the way, Congratulation to SE!

SE almost broke even? or NOT!

˝While its performance was nothing to brag about, it appears that Sony Ericsson has slowed the bleeding a bit when it comes to its earnings. As part of the company's Q3 financial results that it released today, we learned that Sony Ericsson put in a performance that would have been a hair above break even if not for some restructuring charges that are on the books for this quarter. While the loss is slightly less than had been expected, at EUR33 million, it is still larger than the loss in the previous quarter.˝

ive spoken to a sony ericsson rep and the x1 will take up to a 32GB micro SD card.the handset is surprisingly small, its probably half the overall size of the k850i for example.
