Crow, 17 Sep 2008Sorry, but your explaination is wrong!
The numbers are p... morebut the question is :
is there a thing has 16M colors variation and can u detect the color as much as 16million colors by your eyes ? i think 65k color is enough and by 800x480 pxl so the colors will be sharp, clarity and clean on the screen

The numbers are per pixel.
So 65k means each pixel can display one of 65.536 (=2^16=16bit) different colors
256k ~ 262.144 different colors per pixel (= 2^18 = 18 bit)
16M = 16.777.216 different colors per pixel (= 2^24 = 24 bit)

take X1 screen with 800x480 pixels (384k pixels in the screen):
65k - 'only' 65k colors on the available 384k pixels will be shown, that technically means that each one color may be shown 5 times at any one time on the screen.
256k - 256k colors versus 384 pixels (1.5 colors per pixel)
16M - as there are only 384k pixels available, only 384k of the available 16million (2.4 percent) can be shown at any one time.
Also, I dont think the human eye can differentiate between more than about 15k colors, so it is basically no point having a 16m color screen (but it will be nice to have).
the other important factor is the screen resolution, that is 340x240 or 800x480 pixels what makes the difference.
WM6.1 only supports 65k (16 bits per pixel) at the moment but that might change with WM7.

It's widely acknowledged that HTC are trying to steal SE Xperia x1's thunder.The main difference between HTC and SE is the software.SE released the SDK TWO weeks ago whereas HTC leave developers to reverse engineer!HTC are the masters with hardware but when it comes to software their history shows they are pretty inept.

In regards to XperiaX1.net, seems to be the best resource thus far for x1 future owners.

dont be miss understanding..you must know that x1 video in theunwired site is not 384MB RAM but prototype that has still 128MB RAM with the latest ROM software so it means in the final product, x1 will be far better than the video.X1 is great
