updating WM6 to 7 is not hard to do i have upgrade from WM5 to 6. All you have to do is dl the version you want backup your data install the new version and everything on your ph will be reset to default. The only catch is does your device have enough cpu power to handle the greater version and do you have enough ram. bye.

bishiee, 02 Sep 2008hey i visited my t-mobile retailer and they always have eve... moreWell that guy was probably lying to you as tmobile store. They have not carried every Ericsson phone. While you can typically buy unlocked phones from non carrier retailers that would be compatible with tmobile I haven't seen an Ericsson exclusive to them in years. Most Ericsson phones if exclusive to any US carrier are exclusive to AT&T.

Sony Ericsson spokeswoman Merran Wrigley has confirmed, as we have stated ourselves, that the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 has not in fact been delayed to January 2009
“There is absolutely no delay. The product is on track. We have said it will roll out in Q4 and we are on target to do that.” said Merran.
The evidence for a delay were flimsy at best, being simply an un-updated website that was rapidly corrected, and the musings of largely uninformed SE reps at the IFA conference. With the device already widely circulated and even with the ROM in the wild, there is no reason to believe the device will not be here in October, as is widely expected.

It's strange how so many websites try to claim Xperia x1 is buggy, getting delayed etc but then again if you delve deeper you notice they get their info from dubious sources or are closely connected with rival manufactures.Xperia X1 is on target in every sense.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2008How can something, that has no official exact release date ... moreCalm down, neither Qualcomm chipset nor WM is controlled by SE. If this hardware and software is buggy then SE is dumb.

How can something, that has no official exact release date be "delayed" or "not delayed"?
Anyway Merran Wrigley, who is spokeswoman of Sony Ericsson said:
"There is absolutely no delay. The product is on track. We have said it will roll out in Q4 and we are on target to do that."
Obviously some guy on a stand at IFA trade-show in Berlin is not a competent source regarding official release date of a flagship phone of big corporation. Some sites were reporting that Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is delayed and will be launched in the year 2009, i.e. at around the time when Windows Mobile 7 will be unveiled (February 2009) but obviously we will see yet whether there is delay or not. If Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will go on sale this year, even if it will be the end of December 2008, there there is no delay.
Obviously the rumors about Sony leaving Sony Ericsson joint venture are other thing and it will not happen this year so it will not affect this phone.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will probably be the most advanced Windows Mobile phone and its ability to focus camera by pointing objects on the display will be unique. Sony Ericsson choosing Windows Mobile was big shock for the industry (and we were there on location when it was announced) but now it is time to deliver as end users can't wait any longer...

Ash, 02 Sep 2008One thing that does concern me though, is that with windows... moreAsmuch as i have red most Windows mobile phones got an update for newer version, that is if the model was younger that 1 year, when new version gets out, so iam almost certain Xperia will get an update.
Only thing that could prevent this is if SE was not to offer support for product anymore, for example if Sony leaves Ericcson alone that is possible...

One thing that does concern me though, is that with windows mobile 7 estimated to be released in the first quarter of 09. It technically means the X1 software is going to become outdated (by windows standards) very quickly. Has anyone had any experience of upgrading an OS on a smart phone? With previous versions what was the procedure like? That is if it’s even possible to achieve without messing up the panel interface.

Ash, 02 Sep 2008That is true; however I was highlighting the fact that Voda... moreTrue. Lets be honest though, Vodafone's tariffs ain't exactly the most competitive anyway. They pretty much rely on services available and network performance as their strongest offerings...

Revenant, 02 Sep 2008Actually, the minutes and texts are determined by the price... moreThat is true; however I was highlighting the fact that Vodafone change their price plans over the Christmas period. Increased demand for the actual phones means there’s very little pressure to compete on tariffs. Trust me I have seen it happen year after year.

Damn, this handset is so f***ing good looking! And on paper the specs are - well, we can all see what the specs are like on paper. Oh, if only I was due an upgrade soon. But then I'd have to decide between this and the W902. Although, the W960's successor might turn out to be pretty damn cool too. Bah! Decisions suck...!!!
