@maca2406
you clearly underrate the software part. se makes a lot of additional software, i.e. the panels, drivers etc. this is the first wm phone, and the first "interpretation" of this os platform by se. so if you have in mind that nvideas apx2500 hardware platform is designed for wm and ONLY for it, and start of production is Q4 2008... you can´t image what insane handys will come next year.

Guys. Believe me, this phones is not a Sony Ericsson product, really the manufacturer for this phone is HTC (look the microSDHC memory card :) when a Sony product without memory stick ), check the specs for HTC TyTN-2 and think for the comming TyTN-3 ) and you can be safe than when the TyTN 3 go out, this xperia will go out to time while the HTC is very superior.

This phone has a 'acceptable' speed in the preproduction models, only when not branded by SE ! As soon as SE alters the menues to give it a 'se flair',the device becomes very slow indeed.The good news is - it can be 'unbranded' to the 'original' HTC WM implementation.Also HTC intends to release a very similar model under their name with no 3-th party branding whatsoever.

IMO its great to buy a device and then add software you want in to it, it realy personalises your PPC/Smartphone and makes it unique, il NEVER go back to Java. I doubt anyone minds downloading a few 3rd Apps to add functionality like audio and video formatts.

It's has Windows Mobile OS so to play various formats you install third party software like CorePlayer.

I disagree!Yes xperia x1 will undoubtedly be an awesome buisness tool but with the WVGA screen accompanied by a fully supported chipset it's going to be a decent multimedia device too.WMV,MOV,FLV,AVI infact any format you desire will be compatible with TCPMP.SE devices audio is always something to behold but of coarse playing through external speakers will not produce sound comparible with my friends n81,but why would anyone want to use their mobile as a gettoblaster?!far more sensible and realistic to use a headset.Please don't anyone mention tv-out ask anyone who has an n95 how ridiculous this feature is..even more so on a device like n95..all the text on sceen is blured as is most things as the phones resolution is far less than your tv set.

The world of Hi-Tech lovers are out here waiting for this mobile phone..........and yes you've guessed it, we can't wait! The predictions in the UK indicate that the X1 will out sell any phone currently on the market, as users are holding back on upgrading or buying new phones in order to own one of these.If our surrey is anything to go by, the X1 will be the flagship for Sony Ericsson during 2008-2009.

The current X1 protos are slow i think SE/HTC still have to do more Software Optimizations because ive now seen a few more X1 video reviews and all of them show it has a slow UI RIGHT NOW hopefuly SE address this before release because it is annoyingly slow especialy when switching from portrait to landscape and vice versa, man this phone is going to be quite a machine thanx to HTC,and Microsoft.
Why are people comparing this to the Multimedia phones like N82 and N95? They are made for different markets. N82 and N95 will kill the X1 at Multimedia and the X1 will kill the N82 and N95 in Business phone capabilities, customization to certain extent. Comparing this to E90 is as far as you should go but even the E90 is over a YEAR OLD yet has VERY similar specs so does the HTC TyTN-II which is also over a year old. . . . .i will not go further. Great device though.

this is going to be highly priced and with the features that Nokia have been giving in N95 or N82 barring the touch screen.

N95, N82 and N95 8GB are established models with proven reliability. Xperia is still under development. God only knows when it will come to market. The real performance can be judged only then.

you are right, as far as internet browsing goes, É90 is still the best, but we need projected screend for mobile phones, as phones with big screen are also larger, what makes them useless..
