x10iFan, 10 Nov 2010I am still not able to update to 2.1:( i am in aus Before trying to upgrade, look at http: // blogs . sonyericsson . com /products/ (withdraw the spaces).
If you really want to upgrade, go to the xda developper forum. You will find there how to do it.

Anonymous, 10 Nov 2010I'm thinking of buying this phone in a month or so because ... moredont worry at all, that rumour about battery exploding is a total lie! there is no such thing, if you know what you need and about this phone and you like it, dont hesitate! it's definitely worth buying :)

Its already 10 days since SE announced the updat... moreare you sure that you're using the latest version of PC companion or SE update service software? if not, make sure of that and try again, beside the update is not available for all regions yet, you might need to wait for another week.

Ey yooo!!! Its already 10 days since SE announced the update to 2.1 i keep connecting to PC companion and still says "your phone has the latest software" Whats going on???? Im using a nordic firmware!!! Can anyone out there gimi some help / Advise?????????? HEEELLLPPP!!!!!

After a long wait, finally we got Android 2.1, so i guess some people would like a quick review on the phone:
--The first thing that catches the eyes and makes everyone jealous is the nice and sleek design :P
--And the huge shiny scratch resistant screen! TFT capacitive touch screen at 4 inches - 854×480 pixels. Shows 65k color, there is no word about getting an update to 16m color yet. the screen looks great even with 65k color, but 16m color is something else in my opinoin.
--Then the unique and beautiful UI! The Mediascape and Timescape, they've got even better after the update, absolutely smooth and lovely!
--And the excellent 8MP camera that is fool featured: autofocus, LED flash (but it's still a photo light) touch focus, image stabilization, geo-tagging, face and smile detection (it can recognize up to 5 face to save their picture between previous taken pictures from those people or under their contacts), among HD video recording with continuously auto focus! isn't it GREAT?! :)
--3.5mm audio jack & micro USB port and 8GB memory card included, officially supports 16GB but 32GB memory has been successfully tested on it!
--384mb of RAM and the 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.
--Android 2.1 so you can use lots of applications from android market
--And the great news is that SE has promised to Support the X10 through it's life time!
--And the build quality is excellent and it really feels awesome and absolutly comfortable in hand.
AND, of course no phone is perfect and this phone has some lacks too:
--No front camera, but video calling is possible with Fring by using the main camera (it’s not cool at all IMO)
--No multi touch (we know that the device is capable of that but it's still not clear that why SE doesnt put it in the phone!)
--No build in radio (on the other hand it has MW600 with radio and brilliant audio quality and you can enjoy listening to music or radio, 10 meters away from your X10)
--No DivX and XviD video playback (you can download some applications from market to solve this problem)
--Average loudness for loudspeaker (but the audio quality is excellent)
--Earpiece seems to be a little weak
X10 is awesome with 2.1, now it has 5 home screen instead of 3, better phonebook, better timescape, hd recording, live wallpaper, great response of touch screan and it's much faster.
and as far as i know GSMArena is working on their review on android 2.1 for X10, so you can wait for that too :)

Next week 2.3 Gingerbread to be released X10 still 1.6 and some received 2.1 not even 2.2 Froyo.
X10 is just finished.

I totally agree! I was one of these angry customers when I had 1.6 and I felt I'm behind. But now my device is so fast and smooth, I'm totally enjoying it.
Even my friend that owns a galaxy s was very impressed by how stable and snappy my X10 really is.

xperia x10 2.1 review:
1. x10 has become very fast n fluent now n the feeling is awesome
2. Response of touch screen has improved alot n perfect
3. Graphics of the device have improved alot n now u dont see the banding that was seen in 1.6 n graphics are way better than 1.6
4. HD video recording with continous auto focus is simply awesome n an amazing feature of this update
5. volume is a bit louder while listening songs n audio quality was already great
6.timescape n mediascape is a bit faster than before but the next update in January will make it perfect( i guess)
havent tested the battery so far but it has certainly improved
i think u wont regret after buying the xperia x10.......it just rocks with 2.1 :)

I'm thinking of buying this phone in a month or so because I want to wait for the official review on the new 2.1 update. In general do you guy recommend this phone? is the phone having a lot of issues with turning on and off out of the blue? and is it true about the batteries exploding after the 2.1 update?
To be honest I'm new to the whole android OS and I love the design on the x10 in Luster white, but please let me know if is it worth the my money to get this phone.
