But is th... moreRooting means gaining access to operating system.
Rooting voids warranty. And 2.1 is unofficial if u install it via root.
U can have some special apps installed when u root ur phone. Also u get a chance to operate the system. But if u dont root properly, u may brick ur phone, it means that u cannot use ur phone anymore.
Please se the ravz post he has posted all things of rooting. Pl type ur query in the search box.

I have just read that you will be able to get it for $149 in the US....
Any guesses how much we would be ripped off here to buy it?? £200 £300? £400???

you mean you wanna root your phone? coz android 2.1 is not officially available yet!
anyway, as far as i know, by 2.1, it'll get HD video recording, flash for camera, flash player for web browser, 16m color for screen, and you'll be able to use more apps on market

Have you tried installing the PC Companion from Sony Ericsson? If you do, there's a tab there regarding the firmware update that will check your phone if it has the latest software. If it says there's an update, you just click Start and it will update your phone automatically, just follow the screen prompts. Or you can go to some site like xperia10-dot-net (Sorry! Can't post the original URL here)and read through it so you can familiarize your self about software updates, and stuff. Hope this helps...
