1) I can set lower ISO
2) I can use auto and let ISO goes up
If I choose option 2, the results will be my fault not cellphone's ....
If I choose option 1 results will be much better, from the same phone.
So it is not processing, it is settings chosen. Always been since Z.
Except Apple and Google all other have manual mode.
If they offer, it is because they expect people to use otherwise only auto would be available.
Using Night modes it is same of going to manual and setting the right settings. It is not auto.

Most other brands do this and provide great quality. Only Sony is too stupid to realize this. Majority of my shots are done on the spot, so I want full auto and good quality. Not interested in messing about in settings. Leave all those settings for pro camera.

HDR uses slower shutter compared to non-HDR shots.
There is a risk of blur.
People complain, why they still use just auto mode?
Once you go to manual, choose settings you want they will remain.

https://yo... moreYes dynamic range is indeed improving, & Sony has to include their Auto HDR in low lights environment, as i believe its more to 'what our eyes see'.
However i cant say its better than P30 or Mate 20 low lights capabilities. At least to my eyes. Will wait for more reliable deep reviews.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2019Set lower ISO and end up with blurred images because of slo... more1/8 and 1/16s wont have blur.
And once person for example set iso400 + shutter 1/8s that remains saved until you change again. P20 Pro and Mi9 dont use OIS too. No problem being handheld.
My point is that this is all about settings, not processing.
If I set iso800 on a s10, photos will be trash. Not even Photoshop can save it.
But it will be usable at iso250.
Except few devices like P20 Pro, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20X, XZ2 Premium and OnePlus 6T/7 Pro can give you usable photos if ISO pass 800.
