But issue is Huawei phones don't work right in the U.S., aka they don't have all the bands and/or VoLTE. So that sux.

Yeah we'll see on the Xperia 1. I hope it measures up for low-light.

XZ2 Premium? Nahhh the camera software is too basic, less computational photography & easily forgotten. But i'll hold my judgement for Xperia 1.

I'm ALL for that, but I mean, when everyone else releases them within a month or close and Sony waits 3 mos, that's just bad from a business standpoint. Someone who may have bought a Sony but doesn't wanna wait the extra 2 mos may just go ahead and buy the new Samsung or Huawei instead. 3 mos is just too long of a wait IMO.

Nikjosh, 04 Apr 2019I think you better get your knowledge updated, ever heard g... moreI actually know all about Night Sight. I got the OnePlus 6T WITH the GCam mod (aka Pixel's software brought over and configured to work on the 6T) installed on it, courtesy of the awesome devs from XDA.

The version I have on my 6T most certainly comes with Night Sight and even though it isn't AS perfect as the Pixel's Night Sight, it's very close! Pics come out very impressive! But I believe there's a strong chance the X1's camera will still outdo the 6T/ GCam's, though I won't know 100% for sure until I have the X1 in my hands.

Nikjosh, 04 Apr 2019I think you better get your knowledge updated, ever heard g... moreIf you go and watch any of the camera video reviews on YouTube for the XZ2 Premium, the low light was actually VERY good if not great b/c of the high 51200 ISO on it (until the P30 Pro which just came out, I was not aware of ANY phones having an ISO that high or higher). Dark nighttime pics came out pretty well-lit actually. So what I'm hoping is that they've found a way to improve upon that with the X1's camera. What I was simply saying was that OIS will most certainly be a factor in that improvement if it is to be any better, which I'm assuming (or at least hoping lol) it will be.

I dont care when are Sony gonna release Xperia 1. Dont put preasure on them. Let the teams do theyr job polish the things so when the phone goes out there is not going to be shit like: "ooo the camera is ..."; "O no the sofwear is ...."; "this display ratio is killing my apps..." bla bla bla. Let the people do their job so when the phone comes out it will be the return, the flagship of Sony we all (sony fans) have been waiting for.

babak, 04 Apr 2019i think because huawei has priscope camera which is new on ... moreIt has nothing to do with dxo review procedure. But about camera, yes, this phone only have a safe modern day high end set up ala s10, theres nothing new.

So we can expect it has great daylight photos, maybe better than 30 pro. But for low light photo it will lose to smartphone elite, pixel phones, mi and huawei phones.

babak, 04 Apr 2019i think because huawei has priscope camera which is new on ... moreNahh. I'm sure there's more to it than that. The Xperia 1 will ALSO have OIS (FINALLYYYYYYYYYY!!), which is hardware-based (vs. EIS which is software-based), and will definitely improve its low-light capability, which was already great on the XZ2 Premium (which didn't have OIS). It will also have autofocus, auto eye focus, and autoexposure, which I believe previous Xperias did not.

The question I HAVE for all of you is, how will the new design compare to the XZ2 P? The XZ2 P took pics with 2 lenses that worked TOGETHER where the 2nd monochrome lens was used to collect MORE light to add to the 1st main lens' pic and then they get combined together. The X1 has 3 lenses, but they DO NOT work together, so in a sense it's really a single lens with a telephoto and ultra wide lens option as well. But it has OIS and prob software updates.

So what do you guys think?? I am hoping Sony knows what they're doing since getting their Alpha team involved and it does EVEN BETTER than the XZ2 P, esp for low-light. We will see. But, thoughts?? Anyone???!

Noon, 03 Apr 2019I wonder why This phone Xperia 1 not tested yet nor on gsma... moreIt's a great question Noon!

The P30 Pro is set to be released on Friday, while the Xperia 1's release date is supposed to be May 19th. I'm guessing that is a big part of why the P30 Pro got rated first.

What I DON'T understand is why the XZ3 which came out last Fall only JUST got evaluated by DxOMark? That's a VERY long time to wait to evaluate a phone.

I'm almost positive GSM Arena will do a review on the 1 as they are pretty consistent on Sony phones it seems (their battery life test is still my #1 favorite vs. the rest). But I'm not holding my breath on DxOMark's review................if they even do one! lol But being that the 1's camera will most certainly be the BEST Xperia camera yet b/c of the recent departmental changes made within Sony, I would hope that between Sony and DxO that they could make it happen on time (aka IN May). I guess we'll see what happens!
