Smartphone if he wasn't sure it is the best, trust me he wouldn't waste a penny for a billionaire company, plus whats with your offensive speech like "you need help" etc.

Tann Hauser, 29 Mar 2019And your whole comment is absolutely irrelevant to the subject. My comment was 100% relevent to the topic. You just can't accept the truth and facts about Sony. 99% of users dislike Sonys camera/video setup. Seriously, you need help.

Did you know that 99% of people use video default settings ?
Did you know that 99% of people want this ? ease of use, simplicity and reliability.

People want point and shoot, as many shots are done on the spot, in a hurry. Can't you understand this ? Your points are irrelavant to 99% of users.

Tann Hauser, 29 Mar 2019Xperia, since XZ2, has top notch lowlight video performance... moreLOL.. Did they really said, 'unusable'. I dont know whats worse than that. People dont need to hear the excuse, to say its sony fault. They should not bring something unusable, then say there is other way.

If hdr is really the strong point, why not make everything HDRed and set it as default, and sure dxo will review it, as easy as that. Instead of bad or hdr, unusable or hdr.

No. Its all not the right way. Its actually about how to manage dynamic range. The poor software skill is the problem, it seems they cant utilize that advantage to improve their camera quality, they cant manage the dynamic range base on the need.

Nikjosh, 29 Mar 2019Dxo is unfair for vendor who get low ranking. Now you want ... moreXperia, since XZ2, has top notch lowlight video performance, through its 10bit HDR video option, as seen by numerous tests by actual users.

If DxO for ex, states Xperia XZ3 has lousy low light video performance through its faulty protocol, cause it doesnt even test or give points on that special Xperia 10bit HDR video mode, with industry leading lowlight dynamic range, its definitely a DxO flaw, and definitely not Sonys.

You choosing to evaluate and grade phone camera qualities on faulty protocols, is your personal choosing, but it is definitely not objective.

                    Same goes for photography.
If there is a serious difference in dynamic range on Xperia tested in daylight with HDR activated, as seen in for ex, Xperia 10plus camera testing here, not using the same HDR with lowlight photos, and calling them "unusable" as HDR was not used, is a flaw in testing, not Sonys.

Sonys fault is in app design only, not camera quality.

Tann Hauser, 29 Mar 2019You and DXO again. Did you know Dxo never tests quality ... moreDxo is unfair for vendor who get low ranking. Now you want everything to be shot in hdr, people need to be a photographer and direct a movie because this phone has capability. No no way. Its about what people need, not what sony ask. But yes i agree dxo should review hdr, but i think it only help a little for xperia phone. It doesnt necessarily make it compete with mi9.

People mostly use phone camera to take photo of theirself, rarely take photo or video of nature. So bokeh is important here, portrait mode is what people use the most. And daylight is not a problem for phone camera, as long as it has portrait mode, even a midrange phone is enough. Night photo n video and zoom is the real problem. And xperia is bad in all of that thing. No its not dxo fault, its siny fault.

Chap1, 29 Mar 2019Lol,how can u mention Sony and Samsung in same sentence- u ... moreBecause sony cheat benchmarks like huawei. Sony phones get maximum performance for only a short time and then thermal throttling sets in and lag like hell and becoming completely inresponsive because sony don't have a proper heat dissipation solution. This heating issue plagued all the recent sony flagships.

Did you know Dxo never tests quality of video, except in native app on 1080p.
Did you know DxO tests quality of photo only by auto default?
Did you know all other OEMs have HDR on auto by default, Sony doesnt?

They never tested quality of Xperias 10bit HDR video, or even HDR photo, daylight or night.
And if you watched the link I gave, you d know for certain the capabilities and qualities of low light video with 10bit HDR setting... which DxO never tested.
                            Same goes for photo.

Did you know DxO tests cameras only by that default?

So results are seriously flawed, and unrepresentative of real capabilities, just because of camera app design?
That said, DxO is setup for higher scores of OEMs that use a certain specific app design, and not for actual photo and video capability or quality testing.

You expected too much and lost your logic. This phone only has a safe set up, a high end modern day proven set up like on s10. There is no way this phone can do that zoom.

We can expect a great daylight photos and video, and improvement for bokeh and lo light, maybe a neat trick in videos. Don't expect a great night photo and video. I predict it will make a jump in DXO. It will score 98.
