Indeed 765 is a better processor than 665 no doubt, being one class higher and almost one year newer. I think with Sony's hardware optimization daily use will be smooth and clean.

I don't think in camera department Sony phones were much worse than competition. Perhaps overall they lacked behind, but also had their own strong points. Especially if a user is somehow competent in photography, it was possible to shoot great pictures with natural color using manual mode.
New Xperia 1 and 5 were a quite significant improvement and are able to compete with other flagships IMO.

I agree that previous year Xperia 10/10 Plus were overpriced, but new Xperia 10 II is really good in my opinion.
Official Sony website states it has CGG6 and IP65/68, but there is no word about aluminum frame. Now it's has quite impressive camera with 10 FPS burst AF and Night Mode. Even some chinese midrangers in the same price category don't have Night Mode. But honestly only real test will tell. Of course it would be sad if phone lacks OIS or 60fps 1080 according to official website. We will see.

About only 4GB or RAM. Like with processor it's not only hardware, but also about software optimization. I have used Xperia 10 Plus (which has 4GB of RAM and SND636) and was pleased with its perfomance overall. I do hope however that its UFS and not eMMC memory.

This phone is probably using eMMCs storage, but don't quote me on that.
Snapdragon 665 cannot do WiFi6, very disappointing again.
The Gorilla Glass version is not listed. It may be version 3 or even an alternative.
60FPS video is not listed, but I'm sure that with an alternate camera app this chipset can recording in 1080p60
There is no O.I.Stabilization listed! While 2x optical zoom is listed.

Commentors have some good points, however.
665 DOES NOT have better battery life that 765, which is entirely a matter of 11nm vs 7nm, bigger lithography requires more energy/power.
Sony is constantly a year or two behind its competitors in camera performance, with years of crashing software and bad processing on their resumé.
I see a strange shape at the bottom of the phone which suggests dual from speakers to me.
Sony still has such a big name that they're considered a premium brand that people consider in comparision to their Samsung and Apple, which allows them to charge high prices for clean designs with well known features such as a headphones jacks, but omit complex desires like great cameras or newest chipsets. This phone is only overpriced in the way the big names are overpriced. This is the phone that will be sold in large bulks to people in their 20s.
I do think that Sony missed an opportunity to gain a new audience of informed and logical buyers, that they could have had by utilising the features that people are missing (OIS, stronger main cams, 765, 6GB) HOWEVER that imaginary phone would be been too close to what this phone -really- is (described above), and would have damaged their profit on that moneymaker.
Also Japanese business mindset is pretty ignorant to external markets, so do not hope for them to take a Oneplus never settle approach and certainly don't expect them to market that way...
Maybe next year they will bring us the perfect phone, by happy coincidence, and with good camera software/performance.
The future is notchless. But Chinese will keep producing notches because it's in their business culture to copy eachother.

coolcat, 02 Mar 2020Sony need 6GB RAM and Xperia 10 Plus II.6GB is nice, but I have 4GB in XZ3 and when I open 10apps (browser, album, music, insta, YT and few more) I have about 0.7GB-1GB free RAM so its not bad.

Seems like you guys forget about optimization.

-there 3600 mah, but there is Sony Battery Care and lightweight and still with good build quality.

-there 3 camera, but there is not gimmick cam called bokeh and macro cam.

-there SD665, but not everybody like intense gaming instead choose battery life.

-there thick bezel on top, but there is 21:9 display for better scrolling and keep upper display works well. Dont forget with amoled.

-there 4GB RAM, but there is Sony's UI that dont give you ads and gimmick features. Dont forget about Sony fast update.

It has screen 17% smaller than XA2 Ultra, with 20mAh more.
                    Battery endurance will be better.

                    6" 21:9 = 5.6" 16:9

People do not demand pop up, notch or hole.

There are many rivals in 400 EUR range that lack either proper telephoto/ultrawide camera, IP65/68 rating, built from cheaper materials or use LCD screen panel.
Last year Xperia 10 was really mediocre and didn't have anything special outside of good quality 21:9 screen.

But this one is a major step in the right direction and packs plenty of features to compete even with chinese phones. Plus Sony is always better in subtle things like quality, software optimization and signal connectivity for wireless services.

tempting. price range is right with this one. kudos sony!

Samsung A71, LG K61, Huawei Y9s, Nokia 7.2 are the only I can think of and they all have the compromises. Add to them the Sony tax and I think the price is somehow fair (could be better).

Honestly, this is probably the cheapest IP rated phone I have seen, which is surprising.
