The device was really good at everything... except the processor... WHY SONY?
You should used a Snapdragon 778G instead.

I'm a bit lost here. Is it enough to change the camera these days to call an "old" device "new"? Not that the 10 IV is a bad device, on the contrary, the compact size and the mind-blowing battery life are the key selling points (at least to me) but we're now past the stage of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" when it comes to the design. Also that cinematic thing with narrow tall screens is not my cup of tea...and seemingly not the one of the other brands either. And then there's the price...sorry but far too much for what you get, even with the Sony badge on it. I just hope that they changed other stuff as well like the possibility to change the fingerprint setting (touch or press), better fluidity when navigating through the phone, better oled quality (the previous one isn't that good and not as deep blacks for an oled). Lets wait for the full test.

It would be nice to be able to have the specs of the 1 V in this form factor (besides battery due to size constraints). I always thought the 21:9 ratio was a bit too tall, I have a 7T which is 20:9 and probably the max height I'd be comfortable with. Since the 10 V is smaller, I'd definitely be willing to give it a try, but I don't want to downgrade the specs just to have a comfortable size. Big phones are not always better (for everyone)

The Sony Z2 & Z3 in 2014 were the peak of Sony, also being the highest sales in Sony mobile history. It went down drastically with the successor, Z3+ because of SD810 hot fiasco, maybe also the sudden rose of Samsung S6 popularity at that time. After that things were not looking so good, until now.

Why they can't just own that given the price bracket it makes more sense to just have a really good main sensor, I'll never know. Samsung Galaxy A04s is so bad for this. One okay sensor two useless ones, when it could be just one good sensor.

Pixel 7a is way better, it doesn't have the headphone jack but I think I can learn to live without it.

My first time seeing an 8mp telephoto lens and not Macro or Depth combination. Why can't others use an 8mp telephoto lens?

This phone is going to get trounced, all Sony had to do to make it a winner is upgrade the chipset (a 778G+ or hell Dimensity 1080 or 870 would have been great) and give the screen even only 90hz refresh rate and keep the price the same it'd have been the mid ranger to beat, as it stands even 2 year old mid-rangers like the Galaxy A52s make more sense then this

Am not totally mad as long as they keep price accesible, but i find it wasteful they are missing the chance to strengthen this segment a little more for example enabling this line to have the pro app for videos and photos even if they leave out a few codecs, lower burst rate things like that compare to the 5 and 1 series because the thing is the segment is no completely abandone i just saw myself strongly considering Zenfone 9 until i noticed the 10 V was about to be announced i wouldn't even mention the iphone mini series battery is so bad.

All I'm asking myself with this phone is: But why?
It's basically an Xperia 10 IV with some minor differences. A bigger battery is nice, but it's not like the 10 IV was lacking there, it was already a beast. Apart from that there is only really stereo speakers (which are nice I guess) and a slightly larger screen. The 695 is not bad, but a little dated, maybe a 778G or something similar would have been a better choice.

#Disappointed Sony.
I can rather choose to go with POCO F5 Pro [(A flagship killer phone) which has IR blaster, better camera (except telephoto lens), bigger battery with fast charging, bigger storage option and better performance & display with Dolby vision support.]

Cpt.Power, 11 May 2023Shared sim slot and specs of a 250 eur device made this thi... moreSure, if you want the best specs for the buck you can't miss with Xiaomi (Redmi and Poco), but the thing is some people don't like their software optimization and MIUI is not known as the most stable UI out there, especially if we talking about budget category in their offerings. People looking just at the specs wouldn't even think about having this phone or any other "western" brand, because all Chinese brands (except Honor) are way cheaper then their western counterparts, but as I said, both western and Chinese have their own advantages and disvantages, it all depends on YOU. Hack, some people don't even look at the specs at all and that type of buyers are majority. We, who visit this site and many more like this one every day and comparing almost every new phone with others, we are in minority. I'm not trying to defend this phone at all, I'm just saying "phone" is not just hardware on spec sheet. And btw there is a valid reason why Xperia line of phones cost more then it should be. It's because of their volume sales, they're not trying to have the most sales from any brand and that has a cost. Cost of each component inside the phone largely depends on how many units you're planning to sale. Sony is a small player in mobile space, so naturally players such as Samsung and pretty much all Chinese brands which are overflooding the market with their cycle of releasing new model every 6 months will have components for much better deal which impacts the end price. Xperia phones are not for average Joe who just want the best bang for buck. There is a lot of choice if you need that, but Sony offers something different. Xperia simply can't fight in this category of mid-rangers, so they're not even trying like others which are basically depending on phone sales to boost their other divisions. Mid-range category is the one which has the most of competition.
Have a nice day!
Cheers!

Even though I'm a Sony fanboy and extremely satisfied with my 10 IV, I must say the V just an irresponsible upgrade from Sony... 👎👎👎 even that shi--tty Exynos 1380 from Samsung is still way better than the SD 695... 😴😴😴 I wonder how it will handle upgraded camera sensor as it's already slow and lagging in IV as well as future 2 versions of Android upgrade... 😡😡😡
