I think Sony should have a flagship, a mid ranger, and a compact so the Sony 10 series should be compact like asus zenphone 10 size or smaller :)

Samsung Watch6 Owner, 09 Jul 2024Your comment sounds like something bad for those who choose... moreLike I've said, till today my favourite phone still is a Samsung device, so no problem at all there :] Regarding Samsung vs. Sony, I won't repeat myself (too much): I like that Sony is doing niche products, if that means more freedom to consumers to have what they are looking for. A glimpse of hope in a world obsessed only with money and profit (and of course that Sony also is, anyway, maybe just a little less)

Samsung Watch6 Owner, 09 Jul 2024As I mentioned there are people who still like small screen... moreFor me is not a problem at all that Sony is not trying to compete with Samsung, if it means that they produce phones that are more or less what consumers like myself are looking for, than great. I wished that Samsung had just one model within it's entire phone line-up with these kind of features, like my old A40 (or the S10e). And regarding what most people want, I think it's a mixture of what they *really* want and what the manufacturers/market dictates. Apple stopped putting 3.5mm jacks on the iPhone 8+ years ago, and what happened? Other brands followed, and the majority of consumers didn't complain (even if they used the jack). The same with squared smartwatch designs (Apple again). Now "everyone" loves that type of design. And the list goes on... I could be wrong, but it's just the perception I have over the last decade or so.

BIG Pepi, 23 Jun 2024Hey genius, this isn't even a Sony product. It's... moreHello Mr. Aladdin. I've been using Sony products for 30+ years (walkman, cameras, hi-fi etc - first phone though) so maybe I am a little aware of the company. If I wanted a Chinese mock up I'd buy a Xiaomi, thanks. And regarding the 1 VI, cute... but wrong! (as usual) I wouldn't buy it because it's too big for and its key selling point is the camera, which is something I don't value that much on a phone. I'd prefer to have it free, so I could sell it, buy the 10 VI and keep 2/3 of the money. And btw, nice trolling!

What this phone is missing, is the better and improved processor: Snapdragon® 7+ Gen 3

Maybe then also The Best Ultrawide Camera for landscape photos + The Best Tele Camera!

It would be an amazing phone with that size and those extra improved specs in this size...

Samsung A55 have 1000 nits it's enough good, of course in Call of Duty mobile dark rooms, places in sunny day it's harder to see everything good, but i played i without any big problems. So i guess with Sony Xperia 10 VI have to be something similar.

Kind of clear I'm kidding. I think each person chooses what he likes best. Well, I have expressed my opinion, so I don't know what else to add. Except for what you mentioned about Samsung, there is a business here and the point is not to make niche products, but to sell. As far as I read in past, Sony is having a hard time selling, they were often in the red. But like I said, they probably like it. Everyone chooses their own challenges. The problem with Sony even en the size of the screen, and the fact that they try to sell a lot for a little. Sony's engine has always been about quality, but today a good screen or good sounding phones are not enough. Today, people want a lot of everything. Sony doesn't give it. Well, that's the problem, Sony just doesn't want to give. But want to get. This is not fair to the user. Sony's even updates is poor compare with others. Look at Samsung, small things for cheaper phones they giving, Sony do not giving small things for expensive model even.

As I understand you are one of them. It's not bad, everything is understandable and to be honest I don't see anything unusual here. Just as you yourself admit, fashions have changed and most people want big screens now. Sony may not want to invest in the way Samsung and other manufacturers are going, but if you want to stay in this game you have to give in to the fashions of the nation, otherwise you will stay where Sony is now. Sony can compete with Samsung, but I don't think they even want to. They are apparently fine as it is. Well, I think Sony has a problem here. They stopped competing without even trying.

But yes, like I've said, the majority of consumers seems to prefer bigger screens (or at least they are told so by manufacturers, but that's a totally different topic, which would take us hours to discuss). Regarding Sony, I think they know they can't compete with Samsung et al sales, so they prefer to invest less money and focus on niche segments like the one the 10 VI is aimed at, a compact midranger with some key features.

My point was quite simple and obvious: currently, Samsung doesn't have any phone that compares with the 10 VI, 'cause phones have gotten bigger & bigger in the past years, it's what the market demands and Samsung probably just wants to sell, that's quite understandable. The 10 VI is a particular phone, aimed at a niche segment where people like myself are included: someone that prefers a compact phone with some key features over pure performance. I know I'm not alone on this, but I also know we're far from being the majority. That's life, in the end the 10 VI is one of the few available options left for us, that's why I bought it.

Don't you guys think the screen is not very bright? I had the 10 IV and 10 V but this one seems to have the screen a bit dim/brightness is not that great. Thinking of returning it and get a new one. Maybe I got a defective unit/screen?

Because you can doing with phone a lot of things: watching movies, playing games, browsing, writing text or just communicate with a lot of people via social or general way, working, painting and etc. That's why probably Samsung have not phone with smaller as 6.4 inch in mid-range class. People, how i know, really like big screens. A class phones from Samsung is very popular, that's why probably they doing just big screen phones, they selling it a lot of. The same, my opinion, have to do Sony. Sony asking for the same price, but even screen in theirs phones is too small these days, my opinion. Yeah you can add it into pocket, but this phone is for what kind of people? Just texting, ringing? For that is cell simple phone. To paly game in small screen or to watch video is not comfortable. You like compact phones? That's great. But i think people like you are in market there are not huge part, so why company have to create phone which will be sold just few? Sony doing compact phones and maybe some people buying it, but look where is now Samsung and Sony? I like both companies. Well, Samsung, i like right now much more. But always Sony i mentioning like good quality company. I always have just good remembers from Sony. But Sony did big mistake when went different way like did all others companies. It's up to you want you like, but i'm talking about Sony overall. It's ok if you like Sony, i'm glad that you still like theirs products. But i think Sony right now killing itself with this ways which they chose. I though they already closed phones factories. But looks like still creating phones. Well it's good, but which price they paing for that? How i know, profit is not big if is at all any of them. Some years ago was written about that. I don't think situation was changed a lot of.

One of the biggest selling points of the 10 VI is their compact size + lightness. The only comparable Samsung on this field is the S24, which is a flagship. Performance of course is on another level but way more expensive and you have to give up e. g. on the microSD card slot & 3.5mm headphone jack (another 2 key selling points on the 10 VI). I wished Samsung had a successor for my 5-year old Galaxy A40 (or the S10e) but it simply doesn't exist, so I had to opt for the 10 VI.

Instead they've put probably the cheapest and inferior SD 6 Gen 1. I like the form factor I give them that. And audio is to be heard is to believe; I had the 10 v last year and it was an atroicious phone inside & out. Their asking price of GBP349 is a bit pricey for its specs in comparison why slightly older midrange/flagship Samsung (S20/S21 FE or Galaxy A3x series) or slightly newer Xiaomi (Redmi Note 13 Pro) / OnePlus (Nord CE4 Lite) phone.
They may have said 4 years of security but that is ambiguous. Do they mean monthly or quarterly security updates? And how fast will Android OS updates arrive? Sony is not particularly fast in those departments. They only have three devices in the market and they are trumped by Samsung and in most cases Xiaomi & OnePlus with the updates.
So, why would i still trust Sony with their Xperia 10 vi?
