Anonymous, 21 Apr 2020Probably same screen. Maybe better tunned, who knows. ... moreYeah it will be the same panel but probably tweaked controller or drivers maybe? Who knows. But yeah it will be incredibly color correct screen on any amount of brightness but actual brightness will still be dimmed compared to X2 Pro and S20.

Not chips like inside Alpha and Bravia.
This way Xperia would be much more expensive.

Smithravi, 21 Apr 2020Most of these tech sites are very biased on Sony. They don'... moreWell , this is not just about Xperia.
GSMArena says Find X2 Pro can reach delta 0.7.
Phone Arena said a very different number.
About Xperia, I heard Sony uses own standards for their products. With non-Sony startard tests, you will never find the same delta/gamma values they say they use.

Everyone who is arguing that the display is not true 10bit while other brands support it. I think you are missing the main point. SONY doesn't need a true 10bit to compete as it is the only brand crazy enough to throw in dedicated X1 chip-set for processing display. Name one other brand that does that, none not even SAMSUNG and LG are crazy enough to do that. All the brands get their display processing from SD chip-set and they tweak it according to their requirements which makes negligible difference while the only real differentiating point ends up being display panel used. That is the reason from time to time gen to gen some of the brands display ends up being similar to each other when same display panel is used. In case of SONY even with same display panel there will be big difference as the processing is completely different and way superior in comparison to competetion.

Let me make one thing clear that this time XPERIA X1 II will be having FP sensor enabled and inbuilt into Power Button and be officially sold in USA with no restrictions. No need to purchase International version or get one imported to get that feature.
SONY US site clearly states availability of FP sensor and the images only show one button for Power so that answers it.

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2020Probably same screen.
Maybe better tunned, who knows.
... moreMost of these tech sites are very biased on Sony. They don't put same effort to get maximum out of Xperia like they do on other mobiles. The different values is due to the set up (especially due to white point i think). There's one site where they claim xperia can only 7500K which is actually warmer than 6500. So they call xperia display is not that great but at the same time there's another japanese guy where he got 6500 on xperia1.There's even one video from Japanese tech guy in youtube where he clearly explains the display of Sony.
People want default everything. But there will always be trade offs if they put default. For example, in creator modes colours are more natural but most (90%) people like vivid/super vivid (standard mode) in daily life. When you measure colour accuracy in standard mode, xperia is as bad other mobiles. But when it comes to creator mode, here you cover BT2020.

What I consider weird is the fact tech sites finds different values when they measure same phone. How can one site find delta 1.5 and other site finds 0.9 for same device for example?

Smithravi, 21 Apr 2020More number of Pixels, means you will have better sharpness... moreDelta E value, or color tone discernation IMO equals the color shade discernation, color shading being value of bit depth.
Xperia 1 is still unbeatable in Delta E value, Toms Guide measurment for Xperia 1 was 0.16, OnePlus 8 Pro is 0.26
So yeah, 10bit capable screen of Xperia still seems to be doing a better job.

Telephone, 21 Apr 2020Most likely will sell, It's too damn cheap, all the kids ar... moreyeah, there are a market for compact phone. it's niche but still a market for that, not everyone enjoy having bigger screen phone. i want a phone that i could operate with one hand, long lasting battery, practical, perform okay, and you know could last for about few years. samsung galaxy s series also not that big in dimension.easily hold with one hand but operate them with one hand, that's different matter, especially with that curve design and glass back panel, they are super slippery.
to be honest, sony xz1 compact was my choice,if sony could revamp that phone, that would be super great, at least for me

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2020Colours has nothing to do with number of pixels. 10bit co... moreMore number of Pixels, means you will have better sharpness in the Display. Means, you will see less pixalated Colours. 8bit to 10 bit includes yes high number of Colours (especially transit colours) but if you fail to produce in the Display, it is useless :). HDR, ppi, contrast, less Gamma values., everything contributes for good Display. Read my other comment to know what is important/required to be a very good Display and why Xperia is still no.1

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2020This is why OnePlus 8 pro and Find X2 Pro have true 10 bit ... moretrue 10 bit or not nobody cares as Long as Output is great.
Yet Sony Xperia 1 covers more Colours gamout than competitors including OP 8 pro. Xperia with creator mode (equiavalnt to triluminous in LCD) also covers BT2020 and the only mobile to cover it.
Xperias can do Image and Audio upscaling using Software or using Hardware. Xperia 1 also the only mobile with least Delta values (around 0.8) means more accurate Colours, less Gamma affect. Also the reason to have bit less brightness Overall compared to competitors.
Important for a good Display:
-High number of pxiels (4K is still great compared to QHD)
-High ppi
-HDR support
-10bit colours
-Good Software
-able to cover high number of Colour gamouts
I'm Pretty sure no opther mobile in the market reaches near to Xperia in Display. Only people who have never used Xperia call other Displays great.

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2020This is why OnePlus 8 pro and Find X2 Pro have true 10 bit ... moreNo. Those phones have Iris5 processor which supports native 10bit color processing, panels are still hardware 8bit+frc.
Iris5 takes care of FRC for those panels for 10bit color depth reproduction.
Stuff that Sony did a year ago on 10bit Xperia1 panel with its X1 mobile.
Native 10 bit panels are extremely expensive and used only in professional grade monitors costing 2500 minimum.
It would be nice to see a professional comparisson of both Xperia 1 and for ex OP8 Pro tho.
