      I'd like to buy this phone but for some reason Sony UK aren't selling white model. I will probably have to import it from elsewhere.

          Touch input has been confirmed by hands on test to be 120 hz for mk II.
          Frames were once claimed for Xperia 1 to be up to 120 hz by HK Sony official site, but actually never tested by anyone in any review.
          Motio blur reduction (90 hz equivalent) of mk II is alltogether separated feature in screen options.

          Same case was with only UFS mentioned, only later to be found by hands on tests it was indeed 3.0

          Sony should be more specific in official info, as there are some spec facts other use for marketing their devices, but Sony just casually mentiones them as if they dont matter, or doesnt mention at all.

            After using my X Perf with 2700 maH qnovo batterycare for 3 years now (bought it it may 2017), with by estimate over a 1000 charge cycles...

            Accubattery info after three charging cycles says:
            Battery health is 90%,
            SoT is 6:33 hr,
            standby is 143 hr.

            If anyone wants proof, I can screengrab it.

              So all the data from the image sensor goes to the Image Signal Processor (ISP) to be processed.
              Snapdragon 865 has Qualcomm Spectra 480 Image Signal Processor, They claim it can process up to 2 Gigapixels per second (2000MP per second)

              I did some basic math to figure out approximately how much data 960fps uses (in terms of megapixels per second).
              1280x720 is 921,600 pixels, which is a bit less than a megapixel. But lets round that to 1MP anyways.
              1x960fps is 960megapixels per second. The ISP can handle this much easily.
              Remember 865 claims it can handle up to 2000 megapixels per second.
              1920x1080 is 2,073,600 pixels. For accuracy lets use the total amount of pixels.
              2,073,600x960 is 1,990,656,000 pixels per second. It's a bit under the claimed spec.
              Based on this calculation, I can say it is possible to do 960fps@1080p but ISP WILL be overwhelmed, so there will be some compromise in quality, possible dropped frames, and excessive heat building up in the processor.

              Xperia 1 II should be capable of shooting 720p at 960fps. But we don't know if the camera app will have the option. (maybe 3rd party app?)

All the data has to be buffered into RAM before it's processed and saved to storage. (Sony had embedded DRAM like IMX400) (Xperia 1 II no longer have embedded DRAM for 960fps recording)

                It will depend on how much bandwidth is available from sensor to ram.
                (865 is capable of processing 960fps@720p in real time only if specs allow it)

                Short answer, No. It is not true continuous 960fps@1080p.
                I've read that some companies actually record at 480fps and space the video out to make it look like it was recorded in 960fps.

                    Anonymous, 19 Apr 2020Is it only 60hz?I'm sure its 60hz, tuned to appear as smooth as a 90hz. But its unlockable thru software modification, if you really need higher refresh rate. (The option is hidden in the phone's kernel)

                    Phones don't need super high refresh rates, it just has to appear smooth. Watching a 24fps video on a phone appears smoother than watching on a 27inch monitor. (holding phone 12inches from face) But I would prefer a refresh rate around 90hz since I do get spaced frames at 60hz when scrolling (really really fast)

                            Unlimited 1080@960 is too much for hardware. There is no way it is real recording.
                            Probably 30fps played at 960.

                                    10.6 is total thickness of s20 ultra, not this one.

                                    Thickest cam module is iphone X. Something bit over 2mm.

                                        I’m definitely buying this phone. I’ve serious love for Sony, having owned the Z1, Z5 Premium, XZ, XZ Premium and now the XZ2 Premium. All my Sony phones still work perfectly and battery life remains excellent on all. I tend to choose Sony phones because build quality is always top notch and the software has no lag (everyone I know with a Samsung for example is experiencing lag and several software issues). The cameras are usually very good too (not saying they are the best but my XZ2P takes some incredible shots). I know many on here think Sony phones are expensive and you can always get better for your buck, but I always feel that they are incredible value for money once you actually buy them. I was for example very impressed by my mate’s Xiaomi Mi9 (great camera) but it just feels cheap and battery life is really bad.

                                        I’m still torn between the 1 II and the 1 Pro because.. mmWave and the extra storage, pending price of course. My wishlist of missing features include a silver colour (or at least the grey one from the 1 - why’d they stop offering those?), a bigger battery, Dolby Vision for that 4K HDR Display and definitely a better selfie camera than this 8MP one they keep re-using. The XZ2P has a 13MP camera and I fear the new one is possibly a downgrade. Other than that (and the annoying fact that they omitted 960FPS 1080P video recording which I use a lot) I’m overall very pleased with the specs. I’m more than ok with the 8GB of RAM (my XZ2P has 6GB and never needed more), the headphone jack is back (hello!), 256GB memory sounds great, wireless charging is back (don’t really use it but it’s definitely good to have), 5G (why no mmWave on the standard version?), better cameras and more power. Waiting for the final review to see how the cameras, the Atmos speakers, brightness and battery life will perform in real life. Either way, it’s this one or the PRO for me (depending on when the PRO is released, how much it will cost and how hard it will be to find one)
