I’m definitely buying this phone. I’ve serious love for Sony, having owned the Z1, Z5 Premium, XZ, XZ Premium and now the XZ2 Premium. All my Sony phones still work perfectly and battery life remains excellent on all. I tend to choose Sony phones because build quality is always top notch and the software has no lag (everyone I know with a Samsung for example is experiencing lag and several software issues). The cameras are usually very good too (not saying they are the best but my XZ2P takes some incredible shots). I know many on here think Sony phones are expensive and you can always get better for your buck, but I always feel that they are incredible value for money once you actually buy them. I was for example very impressed by my mate’s Xiaomi Mi9 (great camera) but it just feels cheap and battery life is really bad.
I’m still torn between the 1 II and the 1 Pro because.. mmWave and the extra storage, pending price of course. My wishlist of missing features include a silver colour (or at least the grey one from the 1 - why’d they stop offering those?), a bigger battery, Dolby Vision for that 4K HDR Display and definitely a better selfie camera than this 8MP one they keep re-using. The XZ2P has a 13MP camera and I fear the new one is possibly a downgrade. Other than that (and the annoying fact that they omitted 960FPS 1080P video recording which I use a lot) I’m overall very pleased with the specs. I’m more than ok with the 8GB of RAM (my XZ2P has 6GB and never needed more), the headphone jack is back (hello!), 256GB memory sounds great, wireless charging is back (don’t really use it but it’s definitely good to have), 5G (why no mmWave on the standard version?), better cameras and more power. Waiting for the final review to see how the cameras, the Atmos speakers, brightness and battery life will perform in real life. Either way, it’s this one or the PRO for me (depending on when the PRO is released, how much it will cost and how hard it will be to find one)

Anonymous, 18 Apr 20207.6 does not count cam bump. Cam bump is 3 mm.
Cam humps are stupid.
Dont know why they insist on them bumps like others.
Make it all 8 mm and waste extra space on battery or sth...
Well, at least Sonys one doesnt look like a cooking plate.
Miss the no back cam hump Xperia days.

Nick.B, 18 Apr 2020Most new phones does not have notif.led. You must rely on A... more!?! Honestly, I havent even paid attention to that, as I thought having a dedicated notification light was self explanatory omnipresent thing.
Oh man, having to use battery draining always on to make up for lack of that cheap little led notification light supplementary is....
Well, I guess the stupid completely bezelless trend is the reason. Along with most annoying screen notches/bholes, no notification lights either...
One more certain reason for me to stay with Sony smartphones.
Anyways, Xp 1 mkII has it:

Tann Hauser, 17 Apr 2020Believe me it has, as seen on few available hands on videos... moreMost new phones does not have notif.led. You must rely on AOD which drains 8% a day which is a lot for having your notifications from far away let's say you get back from bath and cannot now you have any message or missed call with the new phones unless you turn on AOD

I wonder why this phone and Sony Xperia in general are so controversial here by "Anonymous" posters. Perhaps they don't realise that mobile phones are more than just specs, notches and stealing designs from actual premium brands. Also, the culture of countries and markets may differ. Among professionals and educated people in my country (Western Europe) most people prefer functionality, toned down elegance and human rights over golden shiny multicolour backs, industrial espionage and 1000 superultra pro megapixel cameras. I would go so far as to say that it's not socially acceptable.

" very likely. This is what I heard yesterday. It has nothing to do with hardware, such as delay in production or supply due to COVID19.
In fact, the first batch of devices are pretty much ready for shipment. The issue behind delay is camera software, specifically photography pro. As the official site states this feature is not available with default firmware but they are planning to release the 1st update to enable this as soon as release, but there are still some glitches and bugs.
So unless this 1st update is ready, I don’t think they will release the devices." ...

If u have already used the Xperia you will feel the difference with any mobile phones.
The Quality is just average, not special, camera is the worst compared to the other flagships, the ui looks ugly, and it's always overpriced.

Anonymous, 18 Apr 2020Where did you see this info? There is a Japanese You Tuber that tries to explain the possible reasons Sony had to postpone the release.
The video is in Japanese, so you'll have to turn on subtitles and auto translate. (the translation is pretty bad)
https://youtu.be/9D6L34rNoWE?t=336
I set the link to where he says some software features will become available after a software update.
He says if Xperia launched earlier, there would be alot of functions that are not ready yet. So by postponing the date, the engineers will have more time to refine certain apps for a better launch.
