Cameras are still made there, but I do not know by who.

Xperia 1ii does not depend on China's supply chain.
10ii depends a bit, that's why it will come later.
Xperia are done in Thailand.

Even with whole covid19 issue, flagship will arrive 1 month earlier than previous years.

    Just Recently restarted production, but Sony engineers were locked out back in Japan due to pandemic, thus the delays, even for low/mid Xperias...
    Chinese OEMs didnt have that "problem".

    I wouldnt buy that notched L4, just as any other notch/bhole device for any amount, but either way, it is still not available anywhere yet as far as I searched.

      899$ 8 pro has dual band gps

Anyhow you are saying that your friends imported them when Xiaomi was not even launched in India.

                Do you know how many people imported SONY XPERIA flagship devices specially XPERIA 1 and 5 in past year after it was officially discontinued.

                There are always people who are into tech like us and we can get our hands on every possible gadget in one way or the other if we really want to. But you tell me how many around the world are like us specially in India.

                Yes I agree there were people who imported Xiaomi even before it was officially launched in India. But my question is how many really did in comparison to people who purchased after it was officially released and was known to masses. Extremely few and that is my point.

                    This is totally different timeline I am talking about, one which doesn't involve OnePlus. Didn't even mention OnePlus in my entire post. Where did I mention 2014 in that above sentence? I simply mentioned about the time before Xiaomi sold devices in India. 'Then' refers to time before Xiaomi started selling devices in India. Stop taking things out of context.

                      Supply chains have been messed up.
                      Sony had to close 6 factories at least, around the world, most of them in china, due to corona pandemic.
                      Japan is now financially encouraging japanese firms to relocate their factories back to Japan, to avoid such situations, Sony included.

                      Xperia 10 mkII and L4 should ve been out a month ago, Xperia 1 mkII release date has been prolonged.

Then I stated Xiaomi advertising around that time. The next statement you replied with is "Xiaomi didn't even sell phones In India back then. They had zero marketing back then.". Not only me but anyone in their right mind would assume that you were saying that Xiaomi was not in India back in 2014 and they did not have any marketing back then.

                        I don't blindly support any brand let it be SONY, Apple, OnePlus, HTC etc. Whwn a brand does great with its product I give it credit. If I had to blindly support SONY I would have argued that XZ2/3 and X series were great. But I never did that. I in fact recommended many OnePlus offering over them. I even threw in lot many negative comments regarding their shortcomings and how SONY ruined it.

Buh you have to know Sony is a brand that do not just fit in. They always aim for strict professionalism. While others are giving saturated displays, they choose accuracy. While others are going for brightness, they go for screen endurance and longevity. If you really want to stand out; Xperia is the device.

                                Profit margins will be low but that's better than suffering a loss.
                                They can increase prices as marketshare improves.

                                This year, LG launched V60 at a pretty reasonable price compared to the 1000 Euro flagship Brat pack.
                                LG V60 is a great competitor to budget Chinese flagship which cost around 600-800 Euros today.
                                It's got headphone hack, IP68, great screen, flasghip grade SD865 performance, decent cameras and all the basics covered.
                                Sure it lacks higher refresh rate, 50W fast charging, etc but the basics are covered and is a pretty good alternative to budget chinese flagships.

                                  I only meantioned about OnePlus because I didn't really know much about the other Chinese phone companies. (I never really had interest in them back in 2014. Sorry about that)
                                  I think it may have been Oneplus' popularity that triggered more interest in other Chinese phone companies. (its my opinion, not a fact) Like a Gateway Phone. People weren't really sure if Chinese phones were as good as they were on paper. But as more people started buying them and talking about them, (as you said, Mouth Publicity) more people were likely to have interest in other Chinese phones.
                                  So basically for the Chinese phone market (at least in the beginning when it was difficult to advertise outside their country) relied on consumers to keep adding fuel to the fire. (supports your point, right)
                                  So then, Sony, What does Sony have to do to get their fire big and blazing?

                                    Well the 'general average consumer' had never heard of that brand. Nor did they plan on buying phone from some new Chinese company on the block.

                                    And why single out OnePlus? I am talking about Chinese manufacturers in general like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Huawei, etc. all were relatively less known, definitely not on the radar of most people and many were doubtful about using those Chinese phones.

                                    They didn't share the same level of trust that casual user had for brands like Samsung, Apple, Sony, LG.
                                    But that trust developed over time not coz of marketing but coz the products were really good especially for the price.

                                    They only got popular over the years because of word of mouth publicity, not marketing. Which is exactly my point!

                                      Truth is bitter, isn't it?
                                      You think I am some Sony hater when delusional fans like you can't accept constructive criticism of their favorite brand.
                                      I want Sony to do well, heck I also want LG and HTC to do well.
                                      More competition means better devices and more innovation for the consumers.
                                      Had it not been for Chinese phones, Samsung still would be selling phones with weak internals in the budget segments.

                                      But Sony are not going to do well unless they change their strategy.
                                      Sony, HTC and LG can only resurface in the mobile segment if they produce bang for buck products.
                                      Good to see LG understand this and launch the V60 at around 600 Euros when other flagships cost over 1000 Euros. Though it's not top of the line flagship and has a few things missing, I'd see ppl buying it over certain Chinese budget flagships. They'll definitely sell more than last year.

                                        My and my friends were hyped about OnePlus One since it was ANNOUNCED (before it was released). (my ex, her sister, and her sister's bf got the OPO) I ended up with the Xperia Z2 because everything else about OnePlus wasn't worth it to me. I think same chipset but higher clock speeds on oneplus. The plastic back was really bad at dissipating heat too.
                                        The phone ran a Custom CyanogenMod OS or something like that
                                        Everyone talked about it in the Rom modding forums (XDA)
                                        OnePlus targeted a Very Specific audience.
                                        That was their marketing strategy. I call it HYPE. (also it was really cheap)
                                        So I disagree about oneplus having no advertisement. If they hadn't said anything, Nobody would of known about it.
