But the Samsung dare to bring out 20:9 or 22:9 ratio on mobile devices into market, why not 21:9 ratio? Because they keep the punchole/pill block on top of the screen, that's the reason.
Therefore the Xperia 21:9 on mobile devices is the first into the mobile market and it has much more practical in nowadays, such split screen and cinematic videography.

you are just a fan who never bought an actualy bluray never bough a 4k tv or monitor and are just mumbling numbers .good luck i don't care what you think little kid.

you throw something and run away you said that above sentence so bring the tv names lets see or be silence what you are is a fanboy who never bought an actualy bluray who never bought a ultrawide monitor ofc you don't understand anything about it. just read numbers and mumbles all the time.
i won't waste more time on you little kid. all is obvious you don't have answer for anything and don't even have any tvs examples to make. say whatever nonsense you like . all became obvious .

DantE O2, 01 Apr 2020ALL 4k tvs in marker all monitors in market are totally und... moreNote that both Motorola and Sony chose to use a screen resolution of 2520×1080, rather than the CE resolution of 2560×1080, as defined in CTA-861. This leads to the device to have a "true" 21:9 (7:3) Aspect Ratio, rather than the normal CE Aspect ratio of 64:27. The Xperia 1 also has an odd Aspect Ratio of 320:137, and would have been able to meet 64:27 with a more even resolution of 3840×1620. Sony does not adhere to consumer standards, as with their Home Theater projectors that feature a 4096×2160 4K resolution, rather than the CE resolution of 3840×2160. 4096×2160 is a resolution only relevant in digital cinema (DCI), where movie theater projectors feature this resolution with either letterboxed 4096×1716 or pillarboxed 3996×2160 content for "Scope" (2.39:1) and "Flat" (1.85:1) aspect ratios, respectively.

What part in this you don't understand. Your Question is already answered. If you are too lazy to read the soruces I pinned you, just forget about arguing with 2160p. You are just a hater with no solid valuable Information/sources.

Either 1716p or 2160p can be considered 4K in 21:9 Ratio. This 1716p is where Sony aimed their mobile divisons at. You can now watch your MI movie on your whatsover non-sony odd Display Smartphone with poor resolution.

DantE O2, 01 Apr 2020YEP like you said this phone like any other phone out there... moreGood luck with your own Definition of 4k. Lot of TV in the market which are 4K are not 4K according to your defintion. Also You just blabbering only about 2160p, I clearly gave you all the Sources which are relevant and blatantly explains, there is no Standard 4K for any aspect Ratio. It also includes sony bringing it's own Resolution to meet 4K Standard. Just read the Source for real. Don't be a blind hater.

Vineet Reddy, 01 Apr 2020I hope you do realize 4K Cinemascope is 4096 x 1716 as stan... moreYEP like you said this phone like any other phone out there is not capable of giving full UHD experience .nowadays they use UHD and 4k on branding monitors in same case though so if we accept this phone is not UHD then we can agree

Smithravi, 01 Apr 2020I think you completely missed the Point of 4K and the Stand... moreyou wrote lotta irrelevant things we are talking about display standards all else is BS. so i will make things easy for you: just tell me if you can watch mission impossible fallout without down scaling on that phone that movie has imax scense with 2160 vertical pixels at 3840 full crop no black bars below to be removed.
                easy answer tell me.
and ofc any kids know you must watch contents at their desired AR not any AR you like to make out of yourself. if you change AR you have ruined the content simply.
then you can realize. plus now 4k is labeled as UHD so if you accept this phone is not capable of full UHD experience and just has a 4k name for nothing we can agree in that

On February 25, 2019, Sony launched their latest flagship device, the Xperia 1, with the world's first 21:9 ultra-wide 4K HDR-enabled OLED (6.5") display in a smartphone. They have trademarked the name CinemaWide for use in their latest ultra-wide Xperia devices.[33] It is not the first mobile device to use a 21:9 aspect ratio display; that recognition belongs to the LG New Chocolate, released in 2009. It has a 4" TFT display with 345 x 800 pixels and 217 ppi density. The Samsung Galaxy Fold smartphone/tablet folding hybrid, with its 4.6" Super AMOLED cover display, and the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus are among the first modern devices with ultra-wide displays, with other smartphone manufacturers expected to follow suit after. Motorola introduced two 21:9 smartphones in 2019, the One Vision in May[34] and the One Action in August,[35] both with a 6.3" FHD+ 1080p LCD screen.

Note that both Motorola and Sony chose to use a screen resolution of 2520×1080, rather than the CE resolution of 2560×1080, as defined in CTA-861. Some of the key features which u don't find in Samsung:

                              -4K HDR Display
                              - 4K HDR recording at 60fps & 2k recording at 120fps
                              - God tier 20 fps AF/AE with Eye AF
                              - Legendary Zeiss lens
                              - Largest pixel sensor size by any smartphone
                              - 21:9 display
                              - Sexy design without ugly notches and punch holes (+ fits good in one hand)
                              - Fast processor unlike lousy exynos (SD by samsung is only released in USA)
                              - dual front end facing speakers
                              - 360 degree audio function + Dolby Atmos tuned by Sony pictures/Music
                              -Photo pro & Cinema Pro
                              - Camera shutter button

Key fetaures compared to last year Xperia 1:
                              - 8GB ram
                              - Wireless charging
                              - Headphones jack + no audio losses like in BT
                              - Motionblur reduction (90Hz equivalent)
                              - 4000mah
                              - power button as fingerprint scanner
                              - UFS 3.0

PS: Last year 6GB Xperia and iPhone performed on par with 12GB ram Samsung and OnePlus in speed test. This also proves how crap Samsung and OP ram management is. Anything over 8GB ram is nonsense (even with 3 chrome tabs open). Over 12Gb is stupidity and where Mr.Silly lives

[deleted post]Actually sony is the only mobile that doesn't lie. It is actually other sneaky chinese and Samsung mobiles that lie.
For example, S20 Ultra, you can't use 120Hz and QHD at the same time. There is no Mention of that in advertisements or on speacs.
108MP with pxiel binning Acts as 12MP but they talk only About 108MP for hype. That's what I call Gimmick :)

"The eye's perception of display resolution can be affected by a number of factors – see image resolution and optical resolution. One factor is the display screen's rectangular shape, which is expressed as the ratio of the physical picture width to the physical picture height. This is known as the aspect ratio. A screen's physical aspect ratio and the individual pixels' aspect ratio may not necessarily be the same. An array of 1280 × 720 on a 16:9 display has square pixels, but an array of 1024 × 768 on a 16:9 display has oblong pixels"

I don't understand your obsession with 2160p. 3840p makes it worth for a 4K literally almost 4 times the 1080p. Ofcourse pure 4K would be 4096 but it all depends on the aspect Ratio and some do the oversan and there is no Standard. If you want Sony to make 5000p in one direction so that it meets the vertical 2160p is meaningless and additional cost for number sake. Plus it oversteps the 4K defintion itself and then be called 5K. As I said, for 21:9 those Pixels are more than enough to be called 4K.

                                    High-definition television (HDTV):
                                    720p (1280 × 720 progressive scan)
                                    1080i (1920 × 1080 split into two interlaced fields of 540 lines)
                                    1080p (1920 × 1080 progressive scan)

                                    Ultra-high-definition television (UHDTV):
                                    4K UHD (3840 × 2160 progressive scan)
                                    DCI 4K (4096 × 2160)
                                    8K UHD (7680 × 4320 progressive scan)

That is 4K Cinemascope 21:9 resolution. XPERIA 1 II is 3840 x 1644 with a difference of 10% which is same as difference between Full Frame 4K(what you were referring to as IMAX 4K) vs 16:9 4K standard. If that XPERIA 1 II resolution is not 4K then the resolution of TVs and Monitors is also not 4K.
