Tann Hauser, 02 Apr 2020You shouldnt trust hands on reviews for any batterylife cal... moreI hope you're right! I'm already sold on this phone. They really listened to the negatives people had last year and improved (battery size, headphone jack, improved alpha team collaboration) while maintaining a great screen, solid camera set-up, resisting the notch trend.

Nikola93, 02 Apr 2020They should: - Downgrade 4k to 2k, because of battery life... moreDowngrade screen after those years is failure.
Like they did do XZ3 to 5.

5 ii will be FHD and smaller version again.
Without cutting stuff like cameras, ram, storage etc like other do.

People buy the phone and get satisfied by the screen.
Other do not buy the phone, but complain about the screen.

This is honestly Sony's greatest flagship in a while. I would own this phone in a heartbeat. But that price tho...

Nikola93, 02 Apr 2020They should: - Downgrade 4k to 2k, because of battery life... moreHmmm.... IDK dude...

1.) Revoking a 4K screen for 2K for a Halo Flagship phone is sacrilegious, especially when has become the device's signature feature, in this case Xperia 1 II is a Xperia Premium heir family. If you want a 2K screen from Sony due to battery life concerns, wait for Xperia 5 II at IFA 2020. Sure, wider battery life loss to keep 4K screen around, but, it's Sony unique feature for 5 years. This's like revoking S-Pen from Samsung Note series or putting a notch in Mi Mix series.

2.) Because Snapdragon 865 maximum capacity only can hold 4K@60Hz or 1440p@120Hz screen display, it would impossible to applied 4K@90Hz on Xperia 1 II, unless Sony do workaround to implement a interpolation of 90Hz like Motion Blur Reduction (as MotionFlow), which's the case on Xperia 1 II. Xperia 5 II even wouldn't bring HRR if I can predicted it correctly and only bring MBR first, despite lower resolution are being applied and capable of.

3.) Well, as I said, wait for Xperia 5 II for that criteria. It definitely bring 6.1" at its diagonal, as a smaller version of Xperia 1 II

4.) Sony just arrived at 4000mAh this year, just wait for Mark III for another bump in battery capacity, and of course, thicker one (can't estimated how much).

              They should:
              - Downgrade 4k to 2k, because of battery life
              - Boost real 90hz
              - A little bit smaller screen (6.0-6.2 in)
              - 0.5mm thicker but with 500mAh bigger battery

More battery, bigger cam and jack inside bit smaller body.
Sony just did not want to give this to 1, they could have done if they wanted.

Hands On is a first time power up preview, when any phone usualy does numerous app and software update tasks in background, and uses excessive maH per hour.
Real reliable batterylife can only be measured after first 3-4 charge cycles, once the whole software thing "settles in".
Also it certainly shouldnt be based on any prerelease software version.
Au japan measured Xperia 1 4g batterylife by their standardised test to be 85 hr, and Xperia 1 mk II 4g battery to be 105 hr, on 5g 100 hr, even on that prerelease software.
We dont know their exact testing parameters, but it gives us a vague clue of how much hr batterylife test should be by arenas testing parameters here, which were 6 hr lower than au ones for Xperia 1. Standby could indeed be lower, but 4g/5g talktime and browsing, and video time should accordingly be higher due to 4000 maH...
My approximation for arenas testing is 90-95 hr for 5g, and 95-100 hr for 4g. Buy hardly anyone will use 5g in due time, so keep in mind the 4g aproximation.

Jesus Chirst look at all these comments...
You can safely call a 2160p video (3840x2160) a "4K" video because that's "4K UHD". That term is used literally everywhere.
If that 2160p video is actually a 2.39:1 movie, it would be ~3840x1607 movie and two black bars on top and bottom. (Not 5163x2160 my friends, we're talking about black bars here) I guess that's a "4K" video too.
X1II has 3840x1644 resolution, if anyone watch this 2160p(4K UHD) video aka. ~3840x1607 movie on X1II, it will be a perfect fit, pixel to pixel, with little to none black bars. That's very "4K" to me.

I know you guys are just arguing about that "1" in aspect ratio should be 2160 or 1644.
To me, I just don't care. 3840 pixels wide(tall?) itself is breath-taking already.

AlexP, 01 Apr 2020Xperia 1 for 3330mah has a great enduranceI'm not saying they didn't optimize well for the battery size, but regardless, I would rather a score close to the x5 so I know my phone can last. A lot of reviewers talked about the sub par battery life of the x1 abd many reviewers were hoping to see a higher endurance score, but it doesn't look like we are getting that. 79 hr on GSMA is poor when compared to note 10+ or Iphone

That makes sense, but I was hoping they could optimize to be at least competitive with other companies reaching 90+ hours with the SD865. guess it was wishful thinking to see decent battery life scores with those specs.
