Here you got me checking, holding up my phone at half arm length and comparing screen size to my 55 inch 4k TV that is about 3.5 m away from the couch. :)
Yeah, its the same.
So if one enjoys/discerns 4K sharpness on their TV, one should also enjoy/discern 4K sharpness on their smartphone.
Its only logical. ;)

Is it you Pro, 21 Mar 20204k on tiny screen is useless. 4k is great for larger scree... moreYou watch 4K TV the distance about 7 feet, but when you watch 4K display on a smartphone is around 10 inch. 7 feet compare to 10 inch, it makes view experience much clear on 10 inch when watching on a 4K display. The 4K video play with 4K display just a perfection, Samsung can only keep bragging 8K video but the display never upgrade to equal to the 8K video.

4K res is a must flagship spec for todays premium priced 6.9 inch tablet size screen smartphones.
Unfortunately, some of them offer less than that for that premium price.

Also, i'd like a cheaper phone to do that, don't really need lot of features, just want a new small boxy phone.

When they added back the 3.5mm jack, why did they not take it a step further with the 4-pole Active Noise Cancelling? They could have mentioned with the success of the WH-1000XM3 line. They could have added back the technology in the phone for light noise-canceling in-ear buds noise canceling. Sony was way ahead of the game with Noise Canceling, but now being such a hot 'Google search' and in the industry with a very popular item.

Despite some lackings Xperia will give you some features that you couldn't get those any other flagship phones...

Does latest iPhone come with Zeiss lens and Zeiss coating? Does latest Samsung come with Eye AF? Are they come with front stereo speakers? It is NO! So they should be cheaper and looks way cheaper too.
