Fearghast, 02 Aug 2020So Xperia Pro is just an external display and a modem ... t... moreYes kind of. As they said, it is not aimed at general audience. It is a boon for all mirrorless/DSLR camera users and also cinematographers.
They can use it as small external 4K HDR 10 bit monitor using HDMI input. Since Xperia also supports true to life white balance settings (industry standards), those professionals can tune according to their likings on the spot.
They also said the design is made such a way that the mmwave works almost even in all directions unlike typical smartphone designs. That's also great thing.
These kind of minor details is what makes professionals so hooked up onto that. I already knew few people who are very much eagerly waiting for that.
For the first time a "PRO" (for professionals) is coming in smartphone industry.

Smithravi, 02 Aug 2020Xperia Pro uses mmwave which is different frequency than S... moreSo Xperia Pro is just an external display and a modem ... that's actualy pretty sad for such a complex beast.

        Good job, Sony! 👌

Sepfian, 02 Aug 2020https://youtu.be/zQ3lsy9gayM So wow, Sony Xperia Edge. ... moreXperia Pro uses mmwave which is different frequency than Sub6 (Xperia 1 II).
mmwave uses higher frequency greater than sub6 but limited to very low range. That means it can carry huge amount of data only within certain buildings or few blocks. Good for live broadcastings of sports.

Xperia Pro is not for general audience or consumers. It is not that of usable for normal users like us. Unless we work professionally in Entertainment industry.

Sepfian, 02 Aug 2020https://youtu.be/zQ3lsy9gayM So wow, Sony Xperia Edge. ... moreXPERIA EDGE Not gonna happen.

XPERIA Pro not quicker 5G but better stability and coverage. It also costs more than what XPERIA 1 II is selling for. Even if available for consumer market, I don't see many purchasing it over XPERIA 1 II.

              So wow, Sony Xperia Edge.
              Is that true?

Sony haa launched Xperia Pro, too.
But only for limited corporate link.
That its 5G are more quick that this Xperia 1 ii.

Its mostly "out of stock" or "new units incoming" everywhere I look.
Are supply chains causing problems to Sonys production lines again?
PS5 has gone to "one per person due to demand" sale policy, so I wonder...

Smithravi, 31 Jul 2020Every one who reviewed it on youtube used it for talking vi... moreYou can tell diferent betwen crap (Dsee) turned on and off even on something like WF-1000Xm3 and consider what a low bar that is.
When you enable Dsee you get bass boost and destruction of any semblence of soundstage ... generally speaking.
If you compare image upscale to sou d upscale all I can as is: What is wrong with you? Generalization of image to sound?

Fearghast, 31 Jul 2020Dynamic vibrations is the most useless feature of Xperia ..... moreEvery one who reviewed it on youtube used it for talking videos, of course vibration will be dumb and out of sync for such stupid stuff. It is like using yoga pants for swimming instead of swim suit. As I clearly explained in previous comment, it syncs perfectly with many types of music and selective content like horror movies. It adds extra immersive effect just like front facing stereos speakers. The way I feel is it analyzes sub 100hz frequencies, and plays those with the vibration motor. So, it doesn't just simply make up random vibration patterns.

Not everyone likes 4K, not everyone calls stereos speakers gimmicky, and just like that Dynamic vibration comes down to individual liking. If you don't like it, say you don't like it. There are plenty of others like me who love such features.

Also coming to the DSEE, unless you are an audiophile or sensitive towards music, I highly doubt you ever notice the difference between with and without DSEE ultimate or HX. Similarly, just because you can't tell the difference between FHD and 4K, you shouldn't generalize it for everyone who see beyond what you're capable of perceiving. It is like in old days, ignorant people have thought "Sun revolves around the Earth" just because majority believed so. But with knowledge and science it was proved wrong.

Smithravi, 30 Jul 2020My point here is about Dynamic Vibration. Why should I prai... moreDynamic vibrations is the most useless feature of Xperia ... well not counting Dsee.
As stated in every review I saw, every reviewer hates it as well ... why? ... it's annoying ... the slab of glass is vibrating in your hand. That's just dumb.

Fearghast, 30 Jul 2020"You don't understand the hate for dynamic vibrat... moreMy point here is about Dynamic Vibration. Why should I praise Eye AF when I'm talking about Dynamic Vibrations?? Since most people hated it, I tried it using and I loved it on selective contents like music and gaming. Only amateurs use this for talking videos and pass a judgement. You should use a feature for what it's intended for. Your take on features are like generalising. I'm pretty sure you've never used it while gaming as well. I have also seen your comments on speakers. You've no idea what you're talking about.

Anyway my point is Dynamic Vibration is such a useful feature, yet people hate it for stupid reasons and usages. Also unless you're an audiophile don't generalise things based on your opinion. If you don't like it, say it you don't like it. Don't try to convince others by unrelated arguments.

PS: Everyone knows Sony is God of AF right now.

Fearghast, 26 Jul 2020No, you got that wrong ... again. I do not imply that Son... moreLet's settle down here.

1st, good. You agreed with Sony taking the antimainstream route. Because either the Z3 era, XZ Premium era, or even Xperia 1 II era, there some people really "force" Sony to be mainstream, and when Sony did it once back in 2018, both parties (fans & haters) weren't amused AT ALL. They force Sony to implement something trend on their books right now when there are lots of considerations and conditions to take before implementing, like 4K screen and 90/120Hz HRR can't go together for now due SD865 limitation for 4K screen.

2nd, I agree with your statement, that Sony should improve. But let's not try to say Sony didn't improve at all on the new-gen Xperias. Both improved on hardware and software, but Sony improved iteratively or gradually from one time to another from what I've seen from past Xperias, where most manufacturers done it gradually but also radically.
In the hardware side, Xperia 1 II improves all areas compared to Xperia 1 and has become one of the most complete-package among flagships in 2020 (3.5mm headphone jack, Wireless Charging, battery capacity, bigger sensors, Wi-Fi 6, balanced front stereo speakers, UFS 3.0, etc.). While in software capabilities, Sony improved Cinema Pro capabilities and features, add Photo Pro, faster response Side Sense, Game Enhancer added features, better split-screen, cleaner software, etc. Xperia 10 II & L4 also improved from their predecessor, 10/8/Ace, and L3 respectively, especially 10 II (even when it still needs to be polished more by time). Sure, you may expect big updates, but the approach Sony takes here will also eventually bring them to the point where it reaches perfection, even the market they targeted are niche and segmented.

Why do not I find it at least a bit surprising. Dynamic vibrations on my Xperia is turned on only for ringtones.
It's extremely annoying and I have a huge understanding for reviewers that almost all hated it.

The best thing I love on this feature, is that it is off by default. Be so kind, if you want to praise something find at least something meaningful. Like eye focus is not enough for you? It actualy works ... unlike this vibrating tosh.
                              https://youtu.be/YbgJ9mokZo8

I just listened a few songs for the first time using dynamic vibration. It was perfect. Especially on TIDAL.

For starters, listen to this song on Xperia 1 or Xperia 1 II
                                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU-VTxg2pxw

I don't understand the hate for dynamic vibration. Of course it does play out of sync for talking videos or movies or any other typical songs. But it syncs perfect especially for the songs like EDM where you actually find uplifted beat. For the first time I'm using it and I'm loving it.

PS: I just also noticed that when you turn off the screen and listen to songs, dynamic vibration automatically turns off. Then the moment I turn on the screen, bam dynamic vibration starts. These are the minor details I really love from Sony.

Try to upscale Chiptunes, I dare you :D :D

Dsee is a pathetic excuse even for a PR label.

Why is it Xperia 1 II needs Atmos to sound better, why was not Sony able to tweak its own speakers to sound decent?

My experience the Dsee HX on my Xperia Z2 pair with it attached earphone (included in the Z2's box) produce nice audio , it pure and can hear the every musical instrument and it is pleasure, it restore the compressed audio file (MP3) near to hi-res resolution, of course I can also tune the equalizer sometimes, that 5 years ago from my experience.

An excellent article on this phone in Android Authority:

The Sony Xperia 1 II camera is a case study for nonsensical software design

Xperia 5 II will be better buy for those who like high refresh screen over resolution, including myself. Smaller form factor, 6" screen with 1080p for sure so Sony definitely will give it high refresh screen
