You are not getting simple point that Bass got Punchier while improving on the detail. The Mid-range got bit more flat and forward with increased detail. High end Treble got smooth roll-off without having sudden dips.
You know when you say Bass Boost does not make for better sound I think you should read my first comment. I clearly stated that XM3 got its Bass a not up without loosing detail(and in fact improving it) in the process like what Beats does. You are not getting the point that the overall detail and accuracy of sound got up a notch. Hell I don't even care for Bass boost if it looses detail in the process of doing so.

If you still think that it only got Bass Boost while it lost the detail. Then I can bet on it that what you came across was a defective product. This being tough time, after the pandemic settles visit SONY store and check the XM3. If you previously did check it in local SONY store then visit and different one or any electronic or gadget or audio or headphone store nearby.

Both the brands released articles about how to be careful while charging and not overcharge the phones for over a long period of time as that will decrease the longevity of the battery. This is where SONY differs.
All phones let it be Apple, SAMSUNG, One+, Redmi or any other Major brand use Quick charge and reach 100% charge in 1-1.5hrs or even less and if left plugged in it will keep pushing power through the battery lowering its life. Like if you plug in the phone and are sleeping or doing daily routine and leave the phone plugged in for long periods of time on regular basis. What SONY XPERIA phones does and have been doing for years now is that it will charge up to 80-85% in quick charge mode mode and then it will simply limit the power input so that it takes long to charge that last 15-20% and depending on how long you regularly leave it plugged in, it will adapt to it and will slowly charge it to 100% over time. This negates the possibility of phone being over-charged for very long period of time and increase the battery longevity tremendously.

It's nothing new for Sony cameras, it's new only for phones.
IMHO eye autofocus is the best feature Sony solution offers compared to competetion - when it works ofc. ... but that was fixed/mostly fixed in recent FW update, if I am not mistaken.

Not to mention, good devices do not overcharge, they are able to run out of wall adapter when the battery is 100%.

TBH when you look at what ROG 3 is doing right now, any Sony attempt seems downright hilarious.

Every Sony product I bought is original, official distribution and no, bass boost does not make for better sound. It's to same issues Sennheiser Momentum is affected in 2. gen TWS / 3. momentum over ears.
Trash mob like, people that care for SQ .. not so much.

Because the charging will adapt to your routine and will charge accordingly. For example if you unplug it in 2Hrs it will take 2hrs to get to 100% if you leave it plugged for 6hrs it will take 6hrs to get to 100%. Unlike other brands which rush to get to 100% SONY goes the other way. It will take longer to charge last 15-20% and adapt to how long you keep it plugged in and charge accordingly. Doing that it increases battery longevity tremendously.

I want to know how it performs, because this is the most common problem with Sony mobile phones.
                    Thank you!

Fearghast, 29 Jul 2020I feel like you have no clue of what equipment I have here,... moreI don't know where you live. But at this point I have a big doubt that you are not getting original SONY products or getting defective or refurbished stuff for lower price. Once or twice its fine but being this off surprises me. You can check online reviews or go to local store and give a try to display unit and possibly there can be issue with one you checked. But when it comes to pure audio quality WH-1000XM3 is superior to XM2 in every sense and I am not talking bout ANC. It is more detailed more forward(which you are referring to as bass boost). You have to realize that it is not only the Bass that is getting boosted but the mids are also forward and so are highs. The point is that the volume output is higher making it more boomy. And no I don't like Beats.

And yes, bass boost = bad to frequency response, and no, more bass != better -> seriously usings Beats culture here?
XM3 are using same drives, the only difference is ANC and tuning ... and those pesky mics.

Fearghast, 29 Jul 2020I like how you missed the mark only by a Mars length and us... moreIf you meant WH-1000XM3 to XM2 then yes, Bass is bought up a notch and not only bass but entire frequency range is upped a notch and has more detail in it. I don't see how that is bad. That is what a better headphone sounds like. It is not like it crushed Mid range and Treble and only increased Bass like Beats. It pushed the entire frequency range up a notch improving the detail and power of the output.

I am worried that what you have been expecting from audio quality of headphones till now is not what you should have been expecting.

And yes I am laughing, I find it extremely funny.

WH-1000XM3 - compared to XM3 has better ANC, much bigger useless bass boost and even more useless mics for phone calls. But we all already knew that.

susukino, 29 Jul 2020How old are you? You're laughing about other peopl... moreIf that is all he got as Headphones then that is bad but if he is talking only about SONY then he has little hope.

None of the Headphones he listed are good even for Laid-back experience let alone Audiophile experience. WH-1000XM3 which is a decent improvement over XM2 is a decent enough Laid-back headphone for pleasure listening. MDR-Z7 M2 is what I call a very decent Laid Back listening gear from SONY under $500. Then if he needs Audiophile headphones under $500 I would have recommended SONY MDR-7520 but sadly they are discontinued for foolish reasons, but from what is available I say get Sennheiser HD660S for over a decade usage or get Hi-Fi Man Sundara for less than a decade usage. Coming to Audiophile Listening I listed bunch of headphones which will open him to world of Detail Clarity and Accuracy few posts back.

And NO, no one needs 10000 GBP to be an Audiophile as one can start from as low as 100-150 GBP/USD.

I hope he has some other decent headphones if not SONY then from other brands.

You're laughing about other people saying "they don't know what they are talking about" while at the same you are sounding like a complete noob yourself?

First of all, the first 2 audio headphones you are mentioning are targeted for a specific customer: Commuters or people who spend a lot of time on airplanes. The biggest selling point for those are the industry-leading noise-cancelling but perhaps you didn't know this? You obviously have them yourself, so why on earth did you buy them? But since you are obviously the expert (not), feel free to list up any other devices that cost around 300 GBP with support for Hi-Res audio and have noise cancelling? No? I thought so.

I don't have any experience with the other audio devices you mentioned, but for example the Sony IER-M9 blows anything else I've tried completely out of the water in terms of audio quality and they are not that expensive either. Especially paired up with my Z500 series Walkman, but also with my Xperia 1 II.

Of course, if you're a nerdy audiophile who only thinks headphones that cost a minimum 10 000 GBP is good then it's no point talking to you, but as a consumer focused brand there is very few companies that matches Sony in terms of audio quality across so many different devices types. There is also arguably no other phone that is better for music than the Xperia.

For a smartphone camera, given the sensor & pixel size of Xperia 1ii, 12mp is the sweetest spot.

Not to mention I have not seen slowdowns since S7 - there were mostly small boosts THX to update to Samsung UI and newer Android versions.
