I do not imply that Sony should do mainstream, I imply Sony should do better ... better software for explample, better QA.

Your comment implied that Sony should do what mainstream smartphone makers (Samsung, Apple, and others) did in the market currently with trends (that few of them I found silly) and revert everything the specialized things they had built from Xperia 1 as the foundation of new-gen Xperias, whilst they already nailed the specialized features one step at a time and they already found the perfect audience to capture it. Are you going to repeat the event where Sony did a lot of mistakes during 2018, resulting in a deep disappointment for fans?

Sure, not selling a lot and you may not found it attractive, but by finding the perfect audience, at least they have a clear focus to do, expertise skills ascended on Sony intended, and the only competition is themselves. They already said it on the interview by Expert Reviews last year, and you seem to ignore it...

As I said, the same analogy is like when someone said that Mazda should stop developing the more-efficient Rotary Engine of theirs (Renesis) sooner and suggest them only using their combustion engine or battery-powered engine because Rotary has enormous CO2 emission, whilst there are a lot of car enthusiasts out there are still waiting for the revival of RX lineup or at least Rotary Engine itself to the market before the chance is gone...

TBH I am not even sure if he went for third unit or he just gave up on Xperia 1 II for now.

anyone else has this problem with the proximity sensor of xperia 1 ii? I've tried on two new Xperia 1 ii phones and both are faulty.

Anonymous, 25 Jul 2020Many stores in USA already sold all units they had. Yeah same here, but the reason, at least around here, it not that people are buying Xperia 1 II like crazy, but because most of the store had one digit units at their disposal :-/

                Won't be available in Australia.

I am really surprised that iPhone 11 is giving tough competition to XPERIA 1 II. But in Movies that was so Muddled for XPERIA I think some setting went wrong or some interference with Mic happened. Music it was fine Youtube it was fine and even in games it was fine. But that iPhone surprised me. That was extremely huge improvement over iPhone X(don't know how XS was).

Now coming to SAMSUNG and One+ what was that?????? Seriously they were all over the places. For a sec they are trying to be flat and clear and the next second they are trying to be recessed. What was SAMSUNG and One+ trying to do. Hell even Mi Sounded better than them as it was simply recessed and was consistent unlike SAMSUNG and One+ which were all over the place jumping up and down the spectrum as they feel like. Is the Speaker output connected to AI processing or what. Because it was like it was unable to decide on what it should output the sound to be. Either the units he has are really bad or SAMSUNG and One+ are screwed up.

Smithravi, 23 Jul 2020Except for the display, Sony might not be the best in all o... moreWhy are we comparing XPERIA 1 II front speakers to ROG Phone 3. XPERIA has flat spot on sound signature suitable for Music and Movies while ROG Phone 3 has elevated bass and treble which is perfect for Gaming. They are catered to completely different kind of crowds. One is for Regular Pro usage while other Full on Gaming Station. No need to compare them.

Fearghast, 23 Jul 2020Well what else Sony has to offer? They are doing as much as... moreExcept for the display, Sony might not be the best in all other categories but it always comes in top 3 in most of them. What here one can expect from Xperia 1 II is the best all-rounder. Since when people are assessing sound quality with loudness and display quality with brightness. That's not even logical/rational to begin with.

I still don't agree with you Sony being seconded by some non-front speakers or even Rog 3 speakers. ROG3 is not even available for common users yet. I keep my bet on Sony that it still produces the best sound. Especially while watching video content.

TheGoldenMellifluous, 22 Jul 2020Well, I'm aware that ROG Phone 3 sounds much louder fr... moreWell what else Sony has to offer? They are doing as much as they can (as cheap as they can) to differentiate itself from other Android crowd - you say profesional - I see excuses for cluncy, unintuitive software (probably made by three separate team never saw each other or ever communicated with each other), front firing speakers - they are really good, yet they are tiny and far from being best (even bested by non-front firing speakers) etc.
Sony is trying, it shows big time, but they serisously have to try harder and comunicate not just with its users but Xperia developers as well - the lack of direction is palpable.

Fearghast, 22 Jul 2020Oh, I didn't miss it, I was not looking for it. I hea... moreWell, I'm aware that ROG Phone 3 sounds much louder front-firing stereo speakers, but we can't slide Sony's attempt bringing back its front-firing stereo speakers just like that (with some upgrades intact from XZ3's one), a feature was settled on Sony phones since Xperia Z3 (2014), only being absent on 2019. Sure, not loud as the one on XZ3 or even ROG Phones, but at least the balanced sound and clarity is preserved here, which's the precise target to reach from Sony. Like, you seem don't even appreciate the upgrades Sony did in Xperia 1 II.

I mean, even HTC as a pioneer of this feature is no longer adapting front-firing stereo speakers since 2016, and Google Pixel abandoned this since 2019 Pixels. Leaving Sony the only OEM "outside" gaming-phone to have front-firing stereo speakers tucked in the days where punch-hole, notches and all-screen smartphones are in the rage. Same analogy where Mazda bringing its full effort to bring Rotary Engine to life once again in their production vehicles (RX series lineup) in the days where even stricter and tighter engine emission regulations are everywhere.

Sure, go ahead, if you don't agree, I'm fine with it. This is my two cents that what Sony did here should be appreciated, where they did nail the niche market they're searching for.

And what do we have here today ROG 3 phone with proper front facing speakers .. imagine that.

Please search my comment with keyword "Madonna" and do yourself a favour. Also I did listen on iPhone and I still prefer Xperia 1 II.

You're talking as if Xperia 1 II had poor sound quality which I completely has to deny. It is not the same like on your Xperia 5. Xperia 1 II produce decent vocals while retaining the instruments sound in the background without any external noise. It even had low key bass but might not be the best and only you can feel it while holding with your hand. Also as I explained earlier, no loudness of sound can mimic the front firing speakers.

Smithravi, 22 Jul 2020I'm talking about Xperia 1 II and not Xperia 5. None w... moreXperia 1 II - It is the definition of tiny sound - no bass, muffled mids and highs to the roof.

None will say Xperia 1 II sounds tiny. I can barely listen at 90% volume (75-80% is sweet spot) because I live in a calm place and don't want to disturb my neighbours. Definitely sound wasn't tiny and I can't agree with you on that. Please try yourself one in real life rather than websites. I can record a sample and upload a link for you. But don't come to conclusions from your past experience.

Fearghast, 22 Jul 2020It seems that way, good show lad. Yeah. To be honest both are fine. It is like battle between JDS Lab Stack and Schiith Stack. Where JDS Lab Stack is less on power but detailed and accurate while Schiith Stack is comparatively warm and laid back but high on power. It comes down to what an individual likes.
