Fearghast, 11 Jul 2020No I am not joking, Sony has nothing to offer when you want... moreFor a decade or two SONY have been making only two kinds of headphones. The Monitors which are for Detailed and Accurate Listening experience. Then there is mainstream Consumer Headphones which are not extremely detailed and accurate as they are created for laid back listening. Yes not all are good but which are good are way better than their competition for what they do. For example MDR-Z1R and MDR-Z7 M2 are really good for what they do. They are great for laid back listening. If budget is limited and one is unable to purchase Focal Elegia the second best thing is MDR-Z7 M2. ATH-DT1770 Pro is really harsh detailed but harsh and not suitable at all for Laid back listening. ATH-A2000Z again not for laid back experience but are really good but then treble laid-off where details gets clipped killed the experience for me.

    my point is, sony do have decent headphones problem is most of the time they are expensive. you solely judging sony products based on some massed produce crap of sony. that's like saying all focal headphone is crap since focal spirit is utter crap. do you understand that analogy?

      You can't really compare Focal to Beyern DT's sice they cost more than 4 times as much.
      I look for price/value and Sony headphones? ... nope. Well unless you count Sony MH1C and other "made by accident".

For example there nothing better than SONY MDR-7520 till almost more than thrice its price that can even come near to it in comparison for what it does. MDR-7520 is not for regular laid back listening experience it is for detailed lossless Audiophile and Monitoring experience. What MDR-7250 does for $300 price before it was sadly discontinued is that is gives loss-less details most natural and neutral sounding no coloration throughout the frequency range Perfectly detailed Low-end with enough punch to bring up its presence of power. Mid-range the perfect spot-on detailed loss-less mids not laid back at all. Treble is extremely detailed up there and yet not harsh as it has to be without being rolled-off as other headphones suffer. Sound-stage for being a closed-back it has very good uninturupted sound stage which is better than many low end closed-back headphones and when it comes to Imaging it is perfect spot-on I mean it was made to do that and it does that in a class of its own. That is what SONY MDR-7520 is would I pick it up for laid back listening experience definitely not though MDR-7520 is not bad for it there is better option if spending $700 I would get Focal Elegia which is very detailed as well(not as much as MDR-7520) and has a bit held back on treble and has smooth roll-off making it smoother to listen if not extremely accurate. Sennheiser HD650($300) and HD660S($400) are good for mid range but the treble is lacking detail and is rolled off to make them less harsh over time and bass is also good but punch is missing instead we get bass slap. Sound Stage HD660S for being open-back is narrow and little wider than MDR-7520 but 7520 still beats HD660S for accurate imaging where HD660S is considered very highly for Imaging. There are others like ATH-DT1990 Pro($500) and at low end ATH-MSR7b($200) which are great for what they at that specific price point.

          Smithravi, 10 Jul 2020DSEE up-scaling is been on Walkman series for years, probab... morebecause of garbage in garbage out. no matter how great the algorithm for the upscaling it's still at the end of the day a compressed files in the first place. imagine an algorithm for picture that have vga resolution in the first place and then upscaling it to 4k. do you really think the result going to be proper?

          some people loathe compressed audio files. that's why sony also pushing DSD audio files. do you really think people that bought wm1z going to use that DSEE features? no, they fill that thing with DSD. DSD also have been there for years, they developed that thing for SACD, i'm pretty sure it's way longer than DSEE. kinda funny, DSD just picked up some pace in the industry in recent years

          for most people perhaps they are fine with compressed audio files. that's good, all good.no problem with that.but saying thing like a compressed audio files with DSEE going to produce exact quality of non compressed files... not even sony engineers going to shoot themselves like that

            and i also never seen a cheap vintage sony headphones. again you should google that to at least have some idea what sony done in the past in their headphone development. because for current market, pretty much almost of all their stuff are crap, they want to reach wider market so can't blame to produce some cheap stuff

That is close to real life. For you I even measured using tape the OnePlus and Mi are both 70mm in width while SONY is 65mm(I measured it at 5:37 into the video for reference) in width on my screen which is 4-5mm less than their real life numbers. Lets say you have 24" screen or 27" screen watch it in regular mode and not in Full-Screen and still you can notice the difference and argument here is the seating distance you will be at-least 2-3ft away from screen. While I am having my 15" screen it 1.5-2ft away from me.

                    There is literaly never a reason to buy Sony headphones because they are never a good investement compared to competetion.
                    BUT I did not test any vintage Sony headphones, maybe 20-30 years in past, they would blow me away. Right now? Why even bother.

                        Why is it there, because you need a PR sticker that brags about you are better than competetion. It does not matter it does not work, you have it - others do not.
                        If you use or reserch what DSEE does it's really simple and it's pointless - maybe for bassheads that just can't get the kick out of regular V shaped headphones.

                          For all those who are arguing that there is no noticeable difference between QHD and 4K go check "TehNick" latest video(link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RVM6UQSN3s ). Even after that you guys think that there is no visible difference then either you guys are stubborn to accept the fact or need to get you eyes tested(not saying in a rude manner but seriously there may be eye problem which you are unaware of).

I don't have a problem putting something like the S20+ in my pocket from a sitting position. Though, that doesn't speak for everyone, and I'd hardly think a company should "go bankrupt" for not offering something you personally want. Preferences aren't objective and the size of a phone shouldn't be a factor in a company's success or failure financially.

                              You're the first guy who is saying it is useless feature while it is one of the most iconic features of Walkman as well as Sony.

                              The point of DSEE is to restore the high range sound which are lost during compression process. How is this worse than compressed file itself?? Please enlighten me?? I know someone people might notice the difference and some people might not. It depends on many things, you know like headphones, type of file etc.,. You might also like as it is in compressed file. That's your taste. But it is funny to just randomly call such software a PR gimmicky. Especially when it is in industry for years.

                                A actually had washed out colours. B is cold because he is using out of the box standard mode. It can be changed to warmer or to creator mode to get perfect colours. Well well well C is poor in everything comparatively.

                                    if you want studio monitor,they also have cd 900ost

                                    problem with sony is they made some of great products and bunch of craps. and unfortunately people bought the crap stuff because it's a lot cheaper

                                        As it was trying to make a point that even Creative, that pushes PR hard to compensate for lack of the quality with B$ PR, even they dropped upscaling nonsense in their ads.
                                        On the other hand Sony, the maker of mediocre sounding headphones and speakers, still failed to realize that people get bored sniffing magic dust after a while.
                                        Seriously nobody is praising Sony when it comes to sound quality they provide, no audiofiles, no one that has more than one pair of headphones in their life etc.

                                        I have Xperia 5, WH-1000XM2, WF-1000MX3, MH1c, MDR-V55 and probably some other inears I even refuse to look for.
                                        BTW: Are you 10yo or Apple fan? You don't own It / use it "argument" is usualy used by this specific group of ... people?
