So, how does this leave the people who said 2k is enough on a small screen?
Do they now believe that hd is really the maximum to tell the difference or is 2k still noticable?

Smartphone 4k OLED hardly surpasses 2k IPS installed in LG G6.
Get your calculator ready.
Sony X1/X1m2, 21:9 4k OLED = 12 625 920! It's twice less than in a 4k TV.
3840*1644 green, but red and blue are only 1920*1644, = 3840*1644*2
LG G6, 2:1 2k IPS = 12 441 600. Surprised?
2880*1440 in all three colors = 2880*1440*3
Samsung S20, 20:9, 2k OLED = 9 216 000 dots, and it's this many only because of stretched display. Be it 18:9 it would be less.
3200*1440 green dots, 1600*1440 blue and red = 3200*1440*2
Sony 18:9 1080p IPS = 6 998 400, very modest
2160*1080 in all three colors = 2160*1080*3
Remember Sony XZ Premium 16:9 4k IPS? It has only 16 588 800 dots in total.
3840*1440 was its real RGB resolution, not 2160. Subpixel cheating again.
So, people who say smartphone OLED 4k doesn't differ from real smartpone IPS 2k, are partially right. Because of the ducking Pentile, the real dot count differs from what they claim to be the real resolution.
So far, Sony's 4k is the first real 2k OLED... And it's sad, because Samsung's 2k OLED hardly surpassed FullHD by subpixel density. And they call OLED a superior technology, LOL.

I have noticed that in Amazon the questions about getting the wireless headphones with the preorder. The Sony response in Amazon says that no we do not get the headphones despite the initial reports in the press: "if you have the budget. Sony has a preorder deal where if you buy the phone it comes bundled with a pair of Sony WF-1000XM3 wireless headphones that cost normally $230. "
I have ordered from BB. And there was no mention of the WF-1000XM3 headphones there.

So global variants seems to be single sim and micro sd expansion (not usable for second sim ). While Japanese variant is hybrid sim where second slot can be used as micro sd or for a sim.
But I still have question. If they know this previously why did they kept earlier as hybrid version?? Also assuming it is the same hybrid slot, why can't it be used for second sim like japanese?? I pre-ordered when it showed as hybrid sim but now website is updated. SO I still have to wait and see.

While the 120hz HHR is good but not best because it effect the battery endurance. If you can distinguish between 90hz and 120hz why can't distinguish 2K and 4K display? The motion object always harder to distinguish than a still-image because even you attentively watching the motion object the frames was fast passing. The 4K display you can watch attentively and see every details color for the every meaning time!

Ordered one of these bad boys. Good to see Sony bringing back things they should have never removed. Only wish it still had an FM radio - how about adding one with DAB+ too next time?

Suz, 05 Jun 2020uhh no Sony phones didn't made in China anymore. It's Thail... morelol. all of their phones including mid range? i didn't pay much attention to sony smartphone until this one.
my point is if they treat this phone like their flagship AV products which is made in japan, it'll be a lot more expensive and sony products always expensive as far as i could remember

What a device.. it checks every box - expect the price. Question is why Sony doesn't try to take market by storm, if this phone was priced about 800-900$ it would be a bestseller, and give much-needed media attention and wind in the back for Sony mobile division.

XPERIA 1 II is capable of capturing high quality 4K content and display it in its full glory at 4K resolution on the smartphone itself. You tell me out of all the phones capable of 8K video capture which of them is able to display the captured video at full resolution or half the resolution or even 1/4th the resolution. 99% of people who consider 8K video recording to be an essential feature don't even have an single source to view the captured content at its full resolution. What is the point of having it.

Absolutely I want to get the mark 2 without any doubt. Just would like to make sure it's duel SIM. One more thing, I guess not all websites give the pre-order of xperia x1 ii with bundle as in that website there is no mentioning that the phone comes with a headset if someone pre-ordered it. Either way I am getting it just wondering if it's not duel SIM. Btw, glad that finally Sony nailed it after the XZP.
