Ben, 30 May 2020Sony xperia 1 ii emphasized its focusing competence.Understandably so. That tech was developed in their Alpha mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (I have one and it's pretty fast, including the burst shot, and this camera was released around 2014). Those cameras used to be just niche tech gadgets like 5 plus years ago. Even pros didn't think mirrorless cameras would be a hit, until it started outpacing DSLR technology. Now, technology wise, Canon and Nikon is on the catching up game.

To be honest, looks a good phone & obviously someone has thought "do the masses really need that? Are they even going to notice?".
Price though? Hmmm.. For a device which will be obsolete in 2 years time!
A wise investment?
You decide.

I don't think the review is clean at all. This phone is meant for the buyer who enjoys multimedia. That's what this phone is all about the screen is in that aspect ratio to enjoy watching 21:9 content the speakers are in the front to enjoy the audio for the viewer. why do people need 4k selfie cam what's the point it's a front cam it's a selfie cam no one is going to record a movie with that. even if the case of a vloggers they have dedicated cameras for that. People only use the front cam for selfies or video call 1080p the front cam alone is not safe for face unlock and it doesn't need 4k for that as well. The verdicts talk a lot about S20 they still sell the Exynos in some markets even though people ask for snapdragon that's not fine for customers and that 100x zoom people only use it for the first few times to show off then that's the end of it. This phone uses a simple formula and it works no need to sign in to all the Samsung account or whatever company accounts for stuff and themes just plain simple android and no need of a lousy sim ejector even to change sim if you need to it's simple it works fine. The 3.5 headphone jack is back everyone complaints about it going missing and now all of a sudden the audio quality is irrelevant?? and the 120Hz screen everybody keeps talking about what can it do other than provide a smooth scrolling and maximum some games and slow-mo videos. what else is the benefit of it is 60Hz video recording is the standard and also the content you get in youtube is 60Hz then what's the point of the high refresh rate screen.

Regarding the review:
People like Jaun and XDA are talking about how useful HS power control for the future of smartphones. Even japanese mentioned about this in their reviews.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKULl_y_bNM
But what did we gasmerena talks about ??? Mention there is an option in enchancer like a useless feature and not talk anything else right? Such a biased review. Really disappointed. No mention of 20fps nor images, no comaprision of AF with other smarpthones. Only complaints about features (Price, 65W, refresh rates) that are lacking from other flagships like some users in this comment sections. What a disappointment. This is not in any way an in-depth review. Just a comparision review.

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020Why do you assume I hate this phone. Last year I was very c... moretry xperia's 4k screen in VR then tell us you can't see the difference
everybody has different ways to "tell" difference.
we don't know how you compared the phones. Maybe held in your hands for less 3 minutes trying to see sharpness while you should have been looking at smoothness.
there is difference and hundreds of people told you they saw it; people who shoot photos and videos and don't play games don't really need 120hz display as it will only drain your battery anyway, most of people with 1+7 and 1+8 I see around me have their screens set at 60hz because they care about battery life more

Its screen is maxed out at too much nits just to get DM points, and is fallling apart in users hands.
That is NOT how you manage an oled screen.
Read some news articles for a change, people are reportin burn ins, color degradations, black smudge effects from day one it was released.

Why are brands pushing higher resolution and higher refresh rate. It is not like you think more than 70% can differentiate between FHD, QHD+ and 4K on above 5" screen size. 6.5" is even more noticeable. You are missing the point that we hold our phones much closer mostly near half a feet to a feet in distance. Trust me at that distance for that screen size it will be noticeable. Yes if anyone is oddly holding it far away like at 2-feet distance then it will definitely be unnoticeable. But you tell me who does such impractical stuff.

The OnePlus 8 Pro manages 880 nits of brightness and better color accuracy. Yes Green tint is a problem just like a phone only receiving 370 nits is a problem. The thing is OnePlus is fixing that problem while with the Sony phone it's like that forever. I'm a OnePlus diehard but even I will admit when OnePlus makes a mistake (like with the fixeable green tint issue) y'all Sony Stan's need to learn to do that.

So ummmmmmm Alpha Team where are u ? i mean Quote what GSM Arena said.....In Europe, €1200 gets you a Galaxy S20 Ultra and that has its advantages over the Xperia. A 120Hz display is among those as is the faster charging. The Ultra's telephoto has more reach than the Xperia's, if that's your thing, though we'd call an overall camera comparison between the two a draw (with a nod to the Galaxy for selfie capabilities). The Xperia counters with a headphone jack and compactness that the Ultra doesn't remotely aspire to.....So we all know the s20ultra has issues with camera and u still can beat it (As per GSM Arena) i mean the s20+ has better screen again as per GSM Arena (The S20+ is what you can get for Xperia money in the States, while in the EU, it comes cheaper. That one mostly matches the Xperia for size and weight, so the pocketability argument goes out the door. The Xperia remains your choice if you want to drive older wired headphones, while the Galaxy can be your door to the realm of HRR displays.) Charging is slower than most.Selfie cam has limited DR, no AF and no 4K recording and only bring 8gb of ram and 256 storage .....Ohhhh remeber im just using gsm arena quotes these are the pros......The Sony Xperia 1 II has gotten a battery upgrade compared to the previous generation. Even so, with a 4,000mAh powerpack inside it's on the low end of the spectrum on today's flagship scene. The Huawei P40 Pro is the next lowest capacity at 4,200mAh, the Find X2 Pro's battery is marginally bigger at 4,260mAh, while the Mi 10 Pro and OnePlus 8 Pro are in the 4,500mAh ballpark. Admittedly, most of these have bigger displays, high-refresh rate too, though the Xperia does have the highest resolution.WTF am i getting for $1200.00 ?????????Same screen from last year 2gb of ram extra 128 storage slightly bigger bat and ohhhhhhhtheyh added the wireless charging they took from xperia1 i mean really sony .....Everyone was talking trash about the samsung cameras and this new device from sony (Alpha team) cant beat it still shoots dark photos and still does not show every detail and all people did was talk shit and this is the end product for $1200.00 REALLY SONY no 8k camera no 108mp camera and u still use 8mp selfie u want to rob me or u just giving up on mobile once and for all ?????

Another gaming review from TK Bay. This time on HS power control
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol7yVXxFRd8
He did say it slightly/Partially charges (92%=>93% in around 30min) but keeps the temperatures about same.
Good for long gaming sessions without worrying about battery degradation. Pretty cool feature.

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020Let me make this clear to all the Sony diehards in the comm... moreThen what is the point in shifting from 2340x1080 to 3200x1440. All brands should stick to lower resolution and simply throw in 144/165Hz or even 240Hz panels. There is a reason all brands are slowly moving up the resolution and refresh rate. Most brands trying different methods to achieve that. Not saying that faster refresh is bad as it is good. But not compulsory beyond a certain point as not many will notice(the same reasoning you gave applies here as well). You simply cannot say that refresh rate is superior. To be honest for majority around the world higher resolution is superior and what they care for as people would like watching at sharper and detailed screen rather that having way smoother transition which they take comparatively less use of. Let me ask you one simple question based on the following example, if a person is browsing stuff and searching for info how much does a person spend time reading the info on a static page in comparison to swiping the page. I think that answers your question as well.
