Ok il bite....What cutting edge ? (Remember were going to talk facts as per GSM Arena)The cameras dont beat the s20 ultra which the ultra has auto focus issue.....Ultra also has better wide angle camera.......Screen u just cant compare as per gsm arena s20+ has better screen...4k ? maybe i can give u that on some apps yes what about the rest of apps ? not 4k all the time been tested we all know its default to 1080p on main apps and home screen (XDA has the proof).....8gb of ram thats like 4 years ago.....256 GB storage thats 4 years ago ....i mean sony uses samsung panels and same snapdragon as everyone else and this phone is not 5g (in usa) for usa people.....so tell me what cutting edge??????i mean sony used ALPHA team and still failed with camera compared to the s20ultra a phone with camera issues.....This is the reason i keep telling people not to jump the gun everyone was talking camera this camera that and look for $1200.00 u get nothing ...Now imagine the new note 20 when it comes with fixed 108 mp cameras and all the fixes samsung messed up on the S20ultra....Anyway i also forgot one major turn off from sony they announce in feb2020 pre-order starts june 1st i think and usa gets it july 24 first orders ? i mean really ? the phone will be outdated before release .....The note brings ufs3.1 so does the rog phone 3 and the other brands sony will be outdated with 3.0 phones will bring 120 and 144 hz screens sony stuck at 60 with the bs motion blur phones will bring the sd865+ sony will be outdated with the 865 i mean comeon really.....

I can see some people are here trying to convince the potential customers to buy something else, I wonder if they are getting paid for it or are they so concerned about us to have the best tech possible!

Nevertheles, if you are considering this phone then listen to this. (SAMSUNG FAN HERE)

    1. Display: The Phone has 4K resolution with no punch holes or notches means no dead pixels. No higher refresh rate but has motion blur which is equivalent to 90 hz. (It was done to preserve battery)

    2. Audio: Best in class. Check Unbox Therapy's review. Dual Front Facing Speakers.

    3. Battery: 4000 mAH of Sony is equivalent to 5000 of Samsung/OnePlus. You will see that in future battery tests.

RAM: Has 8 GB of RAM. If you have paid attention, last years 4 GB Iphone 11 and 6 GB Xperia 1 ii decimated 12 GB OnePlus. Samsungs 16 GB S20 ultra is not gonna be as fast as Sony's 8 GB Xperia just like 4 GB Iphone is sometimes faster than the S20 ultra.

Iphones dont have jaw-dropping specs, but they always deliver. Same case with Xperia, these are genuine products.

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020Let me make this clear to all the Sony diehards in the comm... moreYou're right, actually. But price wise, if Sony can do 4K display with camera that can shoot 20fps with high speed autofocus and stereo sound recording in video, why other flagships can't? One is basically getting more features in similar price range as other flagships, plus with a high end headphone as a promo.

          Expensive.

But a lot of the cutting edge technology this device has is yet to be seen among other smartphones.

Ben, 30 May 2020Sony xperia 1 ii emphasized its focusing competence.Understandably so. That tech was developed in their Alpha mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (I have one and it's pretty fast, including the burst shot, and this camera was released around 2014). Those cameras used to be just niche tech gadgets like 5 plus years ago. Even pros didn't think mirrorless cameras would be a hit, until it started outpacing DSLR technology. Now, technology wise, Canon and Nikon is on the catching up game.

To be honest, looks a good phone & obviously someone has thought "do the masses really need that? Are they even going to notice?".

Price though? Hmmm.. For a device which will be obsolete in 2 years time!

              A wise investment?

              You decide.

I don't think the review is clean at all. This phone is meant for the buyer who enjoys multimedia. That's what this phone is all about the screen is in that aspect ratio to enjoy watching 21:9 content the speakers are in the front to enjoy the audio for the viewer. why do people need 4k selfie cam what's the point it's a front cam it's a selfie cam no one is going to record a movie with that. even if the case of a vloggers they have dedicated cameras for that. People only use the front cam for selfies or video call 1080p the front cam alone is not safe for face unlock and it doesn't need 4k for that as well. The verdicts talk a lot about S20 they still sell the Exynos in some markets even though people ask for snapdragon that's not fine for customers and that 100x zoom people only use it for the first few times to show off then that's the end of it. This phone uses a simple formula and it works no need to sign in to all the Samsung account or whatever company accounts for stuff and themes just plain simple android and no need of a lousy sim ejector even to change sim if you need to it's simple it works fine. The 3.5 headphone jack is back everyone complaints about it going missing and now all of a sudden the audio quality is irrelevant?? and the 120Hz screen everybody keeps talking about what can it do other than provide a smooth scrolling and maximum some games and slow-mo videos. what else is the benefit of it is 60Hz video recording is the standard and also the content you get in youtube is 60Hz then what's the point of the high refresh rate screen.

                  Regarding the review:

People like Jaun and XDA are talking about how useful HS power control for the future of smartphones. Even japanese mentioned about this in their reviews.

                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKULl_y_bNM

But what did we gasmerena talks about ??? Mention there is an option in enchancer like a useless feature and not talk anything else right? Such a biased review. Really disappointed. No mention of 20fps nor images, no comaprision of AF with other smarpthones. Only complaints about features (Price, 65W, refresh rates) that are lacking from other flagships like some users in this comment sections. What a disappointment. This is not in any way an in-depth review. Just a comparision review.

everybody has different ways to "tell" difference.

we don't know how you compared the phones. Maybe held in your hands for less 3 minutes trying to see sharpness while you should have been looking at smoothness.

there is difference and hundreds of people told you they saw it; people who shoot photos and videos and don't play games don't really need 120hz display as it will only drain your battery anyway, most of people with 1+7 and 1+8 I see around me have their screens set at 60hz because they care about battery life more

Its screen is maxed out at too much nits just to get DM points, and is fallling apart in users hands.
That is NOT how you manage an oled screen.

Read some news articles for a change, people are reportin burn ins, color degradations, black smudge effects from day one it was released.

So what is your point here. Why are brands pushing higher resolution and higher refresh rate. It is not like you think more than 70% can differentiate between FHD, QHD+ and 4K on above 5" screen size. 6.5" is even more noticeable. You are missing the point that we hold our phones much closer mostly near half a feet to a feet in distance. Trust me at that distance for that screen size it will be noticeable. Yes if anyone is oddly holding it far away like at 2-feet distance then it will definitely be unnoticeable. But you tell me who does such impractical stuff.

The OnePlus 8 Pro manages 880 nits of brightness and better color accuracy. Yes Green tint is a problem just like a phone only receiving 370 nits is a problem. The thing is OnePlus is fixing that problem while with the Sony phone it's like that forever. I'm a OnePlus diehard but even I will admit when OnePlus makes a mistake (like with the fixeable green tint issue) y'all Sony Stan's need to learn to do that.
