I love this argument. A person who has no intention of buying this phone is arguing with people who plan to buy the phone about what specs are most important for the phone they don't want. I don't go to car dealers as a convertible lover and complain that theres a roof on the SUV they are selling.

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020I am not a Samsung fanboy... I'm much more fond of OnePlus.... moreI have OnePlus 8 Pro and I don't write anything stupid on this page. Why? I will tell you why.
I do like OnePlus 8 Pro as a daily use phone. But I'm so excited about Xperia 1 mark II because it seems very nice flagship with one of the best camera setup. And I'm waiting for it and I'm going to buy it as soon it's available in US. I had Xperia 1 and loved it, but I gave it to my wife because it has low SAR level, which is hard to find in these days. Please watch what you say because you didn't even hold Xperia 1 mark II in your hands and you have no idea if it's good or bad phone.

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020I am not a Samsung fanboy... I'm much more fond of OnePlus.... moreImagine what it's like to buy a 120hz phone to use at 60hz to save battery and criticize whoever buys 60hz phones. Makes complete sense.

OTOH, 4K is not gimmick for anyone who consumes lot of media or entertainment related. Even for watching you tube videos 4K is perfect. Even for the pictures you take, what's the point of taking 12MP pictures and 4K recording if you're not experience on the display you're using??

And again, if you want refresh rates, just go buy that. But don't say 4K is useless just because it is not useful to you. Don't rub your interest upon others. People who consider this device want the 4K.

It's no longer Sony's problem if your eyes aren't strong enough to see a difference between 2K and 4K when a normally healthy person could do so. But definitely it's not useless as not everyone has weak eyesight.
It's not about not being to discern pixelation to say that such screen resolution is already "enough" for a human eye. In FHD and beyond, this will no longer be a problem (for smartphones, I mean) but how about the image quality being displayed throughout the entire screen?
A 4K screen could be showing extra fine details that would be inexistent on lower res screens, and this is true, as seen from this comparison of this phone to the iPhone 11 Pro: https://youtu.be/aiVWHwENkJw
Check it out at 7:54 to see what I'm pointing out.

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020I am not a Samsung fanboy... I'm much more fond of OnePlus.... moreYeah, well, its not a gimmick.
I am probably the most professional here in the field of human eye physiology, as I am a doctor of medicine. And I can assure you, human eye with good vision is capable of easily discerning 4K on such a small screen as much as on big TV screen, cause the viewing angle dependable of viewing distance is what matters for discerning screen pixels, not inches of screen.

Dante101, 29 May 2020I should have known I am going to offend a fanboy. - Yes... moreI am not a Samsung fanboy... I'm much more fond of OnePlus. Anyway, my point still stands the difference between 4k and 1440p on a phone screen is negligible. The difference between 60hz and 120fps is much more noticeable. This is just common sense. Stop letting these big spec numbers warp reality.

Sepfian, 29 May 2020So, what is the most best quality smartphone's producer in ... moreI can't say every flagship or solid mid range are best quality. There can be defects in total products which no one can escape (even with 6 sigma and even according to emperical rule of Gauss/Normalization curve) But I can only say, Sony has never compromised in build quality till date.

But I'm pretty sure similar tech/feature is introduced by Blackberry long ago and it worked. Probably Sony is using similar to cut off the power to battery while charging the mobile. I don't know how they are doing it yet. Completely or partially, either way that's some cool feature to extend battery life.

A Japanese reviewer had made test about how the HS (Heat suppression) mode in Game enhancer reduce heat in CPU and Battery while plugged in. Even with HS OFF the Mark 2 definitely is more efficient in passive cooling than the previous model

I'm just trying to warn people the 4K screen is not worth the hefty price premium. If they still want to go for then that's on them.

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020Bro what? Do you even know what you're talking about? Human... moreI should have known I am going to offend a fanboy.

                            - Yes I know what I'm talking about and not throwing any garbage. When higher refresh rate screens first arrived, it was debatable cause human neurons generally need 100-150ms to sense any information. But later it was proved that there are more things involved in it other than neuron response time. It's no garbage you can find related articles.

                            - Yes, I know what point you are trying to make. And I was talking about exactly that.

                            - "Professionals"! I don't have to go to "Professionals" if I need to verify. Who are these professionals btw? There were scientists telling us before that you don't need more than 60hz screens. But later they changed their views after further research.

                            - "Hail Samsung!!!" If I offended you. I and my family have used Samsung phones before and Galaxy Alpha is still my most favorite phone to date, though it had some flaws.

Sony Xperia 1 or this edition?

As in my country always late for newcome product other than xiaomi, samsung, or else.

Sony, or else, in your opinion?

Smithravi, 29 May 2020Finally apart from me and some Japanese people, a mainstrea... moreThat is indeed a handy smart feature for gamers.

Tho I dont think it avoids the battery charge, dont see how it would be done that way, but probably uses same slow charge protocol as BatteryCare to keep it all cool, and without extra charge heat.

Yup, put the phone on charger/charging dock, or some external Usb Power Box, dongle with PS Dualshock controller, and play all day long without worry.

                                  Nice feat.

Apart from other phones, this one has a lot of features that true geeks need.

4k to use this phone in VR gaming? Please.
                                    Double-firing front speakers? Please.
3.5mm to plug a microphone in for better video recording? Please.
Decent sized 4k mAh battery? (Finally) - please.
Side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doesn't require you to smudge the screen with your finger when picking the phone and then change the way you're holding it to actually start using it? Please.

Finally, the fastest camera in all industry? Three modules for use in mcpro24fps or Filmic Pro for better video experience? Forget about these things, we sport a native cool video app with real LUTs!

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020Bro what? Do you even know what you're talking about? Human... moreMost comments about "who needs LDAC" come from people who have trouble hearing the difference between Sabian and Paiste high hat; these people obviously don't need LDAC to listen to their favorite LGBT singer.

Most comments about "who needs 3.5mm" come from people who never really used their phone for more advanced video recording than just pressing the shutter button; these people have no idea that on a good smartphone the audio jack isn't only used for earplugs but is also an input for a microphone.

Most comments about "who needs 4k" come from people who don't know that 99% modern phone OLED screens have Pentile subpixel layout which means there actually is only half the claimed resolution due to different technology, where 9 pixels look like that:
                                      RG BG RG
                                      BG RG BG
                                      RG BG RG

whereas on a IPS LCD or IGZO 9 pixels would look like that

                                      RGB RGB RGB
                                      RGB RGB RGB
                                      RGB RGB RGB

count the red, green and blue subpixels and you'll see why Sony's "4k panel" is actually the first true 1080p OLED display.

Some uneducated people think that the higher resolution would images SHARPER.
Have they ever seen a 5k Mac Pro display? Does anything in the world look sharp on it? No, it looks realistically smooth, and that's what images look like on XZ Premium's 4K screen, and that's what they're looking like on the X1, and that's what they're going to look like on the X1mii, not SHARP, but SMOOTH, because at higher resolution the image doesn't have to downscale so much, and you can't single a pixel out like on Samsung's 1440p screens which are actually 720p in BLUE and RED colors.

Ever read footnotes in ads? You should. It reads that on OLED screens the screen definition is calculated by only Green subpixels.

                                      Study math, gentlemen.

Smithravi, 29 May 2020Finally apart from me and some Japanese people, a mainstrea... moreMan, I really missed out on that feature! Thanks for sharing this.
That means, this 4000mAh battery will barely be degraded even after 10 years of use if the user constantly keeps on using this feature, just wow!

And to think that Game Enhancer is actually customizable, in a sense that you could even use it for non-gaming apps, such as YouTube, Facebook, Google Chrome, etc.
Means when at home, I can simply plug in my phone all day and not even waste a single drop of percentage from my main battery. Wow what a crazy idea to maximize my battery to its full potential!

Let's see who's gonna be first to copy this idea and claim it to be the world's first. Lol.
