Good luck with your green/grey flickering 120Hz display on OP/Samsung or whatever you using. No thanks.
Also Sony users know 4K since 2014. It is not a something we are dying to try. Sony users knew the difference. Only non-users say 4K ain't a difference.

Let me make this clear to all the Sony diehards in the comments. I'm just warning people who won't be able to make use of the slight difference you get in detail with 4k display (which is the vast majority of people). I'm not attacking the people who think 4K on a phone would change there life and would have multiple uses for it. For those people. Go ahead and buy this phone, no one is stopping you. However, for the vast majority, the display is simply inferior to competitors. It maxes out at 370 nits in manual and just isn't as smooth as the OnePluses, Samsungs, and iPhones of the world. Still a great phone in its own right nonetheless but not something I think most people would use to its full potential. : )

Anonymous, 29 May 2020I love this argument. A person who has no intention of buyi... moreWhy do you assume I hate this phone. Last year I was very close to purchasing an Xperia 1 over my OnePlus 7 Pro. My next phone is either going to be a pixel, Oneplus, or Sony. I'm just pointing out that I think Sony should have focused on a more well-rounded display instead of aiming for the 4K spec. The display is dim and noticeable less smooth than competing phones. All for a resolution you won't notice. This phone excels in many other areas that made me interested it in the first place. Most notably camera and software. Is it illegal to just point out some flaws that people should look out for?

AlexP, 29 May 2020I have OnePlus 8 Pro and I don't write anything stupid on t... moreI can say whatever I want to say. It is my opinion you don't reply to it or react to it in any way. I have used an Xperia 1 before and I could not see the difference between my OnePlus 7 Pro at 1440p. I highly doubt you even have an OnePlus 8 pro as few people would purchase a 1,000 phone then another 1,200 dollar phone a few months later. I'm honestly dumbfounded as to why I'm getting jumped in this comment section.

Anonymous, 27 May 2020A calculation is a mathematical determination of the amount... moreExcept more than just numbers are involved in that. You could make the argument that at a basic level the code is just numbers, but if we were to go by that even the act of posting this would be a calculation.

I love this argument. A person who has no intention of buying this phone is arguing with people who plan to buy the phone about what specs are most important for the phone they don't want. I don't go to car dealers as a convertible lover and complain that theres a roof on the SUV they are selling.

I do like OnePlus 8 Pro as a daily use phone. But I'm so excited about Xperia 1 mark II because it seems very nice flagship with one of the best camera setup. And I'm waiting for it and I'm going to buy it as soon it's available in US. I had Xperia 1 and loved it, but I gave it to my wife because it has low SAR level, which is hard to find in these days. Please watch what you say because you didn't even hold Xperia 1 mark II in your hands and you have no idea if it's good or bad phone.

Ultimate Reviewer, 29 May 2020I am not a Samsung fanboy... I'm much more fond of OnePlus.... moreImagine what it's like to buy a 120hz phone to use at 60hz to save battery and criticize whoever buys 60hz phones. Makes complete sense.
OTOH, 4K is not gimmick for anyone who consumes lot of media or entertainment related. Even for watching you tube videos 4K is perfect. Even for the pictures you take, what's the point of taking 12MP pictures and 4K recording if you're not experience on the display you're using??
And again, if you want refresh rates, just go buy that. But don't say 4K is useless just because it is not useful to you. Don't rub your interest upon others. People who consider this device want the 4K.

It's no longer Sony's problem if your eyes aren't strong enough to see a difference between 2K and 4K when a normally healthy person could do so. But definitely it's not useless as not everyone has weak eyesight.
It's not about not being to discern pixelation to say that such screen resolution is already "enough" for a human eye. In FHD and beyond, this will no longer be a problem (for smartphones, I mean) but how about the image quality being displayed throughout the entire screen?
A 4K screen could be showing extra fine details that would be inexistent on lower res screens, and this is true, as seen from this comparison of this phone to the iPhone 11 Pro: https://youtu.be/aiVWHwENkJw
Check it out at 7:54 to see what I'm pointing out.

I am probably the most professional here in the field of human eye physiology, as I am a doctor of medicine. And I can assure you, human eye with good vision is capable of easily discerning 4K on such a small screen as much as on big TV screen, cause the viewing angle dependable of viewing distance is what matters for discerning screen pixels, not inches of screen.

Dante101, 29 May 2020I should have known I am going to offend a fanboy. - Yes... moreI am not a Samsung fanboy... I'm much more fond of OnePlus. Anyway, my point still stands the difference between 4k and 1440p on a phone screen is negligible. The difference between 60hz and 120fps is much more noticeable. This is just common sense. Stop letting these big spec numbers warp reality.

There can be defects in total products which no one can escape (even with 6 sigma and even according to emperical rule of Gauss/Normalization curve) But I can only say, Sony has never compromised in build quality till date.

Tann Hauser, 29 May 2020That is indeed a handy smart feature for gamers.
Tho I d... moreI don't know how it functions since I don't own any unit yet and people who owned it completely ignoring it (until now even XDA TK bay also ignored it ).
But I'm pretty sure similar tech/feature is introduced by Blackberry long ago and it worked. Probably Sony is using similar to cut off the power to battery while charging the mobile. I don't know how they are doing it yet. Completely or partially, either way that's some cool feature to extend battery life.

A Japanese reviewer had made test about how the HS (Heat suppression) mode in Game enhancer reduce heat in CPU and Battery while plugged in. Even with HS OFF the Mark 2 definitely is more efficient in passive cooling than the previous model
