People need a reason to not like this phone for some reason on this forum. And the best they can do is focus on refresh rate and quick charge. Like the bloke who would rather watch movies on his lg at 1080. Just to try to prove a point

            They don't make a difference, but it's an idea behind my point, that Sony's Motion Blur Reduction COULD actually provide real 90Hz smoothness.

            You know, Sony aims to limit the refresh rate for up to how much is actually necessary to users, but also get the same refresh rate to work for all resolution. It's not a matter of give and take like on Samsung flagships.
            Software magic can pretty much make everything impossible to be reality. Motion Blur Reduction would lessen the amount of frame lag on 60Hz so that it could look less stuttery, which then gives off the impression of a 90Hz display.
            Or like I've said, they can actually enable the display itself to work in 90Hz (since it's a 120Hz panel after all) but in FHD only.

                What major apps do utilize such refresh rate, and if they do, are they super essential that they wouldn't work on a normal 60Hz display?
                If 50% of the apps in the Play Store support 120Hz screens, then that's the only time I'd consider this refresh rate to be necessary. Otherwise, it's just a gimmick that would be left unutilized for the phone's entire lifespan.

                "Nah, it makes scrolling much smoother."
                Then that's why Sony's giving us Motion Blur Reduction to do just that and match a 90Hz panel, which many people were fine to begin with.

                Why? Have you personally tried the feature yet for you to say that? You don't even have any idea how good Sony's MotionFlow feature on Bravia TVs is, so unless you really used the phone now, there's no reason for you to speak about it now.

Quit spewing nonsense. First of all, it doesn't support higher refresh rates at 4k, but it does at 1440p. Y'know, the resolution that manufacturers have stopped using for the most part because even that's said to be too high, let alone 4k. Second of all, they aren't doing "some software magic to make it work for at least 90Hz". You said it yourself that the 865 doesn't support 4k at any more than 60hz and that's all there is to it. No software can change that. No motion blurring, no "Motion Smoothing algorithms", nothing.

                  Once again experience real 120hz then get back to me.

Sorry bud, I think I'll be more happy watching them on my 29 inch 21:9 1080p LG LCD. (With my nice headphones too, not tinny phone speakers)

You just have gotten fooled by artificial processing on iPhones, Pixels, and Galaxies, which are all absolutely fake and unneditable. In that case, you could import GCAM to the phone and get the same results, maybe even better because of better camera hardware.

                          The main target of the Xperia 1 Mk II's camera system is for those professional users who actually know how to compose an image and with enough knowledge about photography and cinematography. They'd get the same professional level of photo shooting and film making in a smartphone with class-leading (for smartphones) quality that's comparable to proper digital camera equipments like the Sony Alpha and CineAlta series. In short terms, this is Manual Photo and Manual Video on steroids, or in another way, it's both Sony a9 and Sony Camcorders in a smartphone.

                              Ever since Xperia X, Sony's constantly using natively 120Hz displays for their upper mid range and flagships. Heck, they even went as far as up to 144Hz with the XZ2 Premium in 2018. Obviously the Xperia 1 and 1 Mk II are no exception, for having native 120Hz refresh rate but only locked down by software to 60Hz.
                              Besides, SD865 doesn't support more than 60Hz in 4K, so Sony had to do some software magic to make it work for at least 90Hz and give you an immersive viewing experience that only Sony can provide you.

                                    Holy moly 2100 comments and still increasing...
                                    This phone is officially the king of smartphones, even when it is not here yet. Haha take that haters, 2020 and Sony still gets all your attention. Galaxy, iPhone and chinese brands are only virgins when standing beside this chad.
                                    And yeah btw, keep saying Sony makes useless tech, 1-2 years later all manufacturers in the world will copy it and some will say they invented it. Same thing happened to IP68, 960 super slow motion, 4K HDR recording,... Don't worry, as long as you haters still make Sony popular, Sony will still produce better and more amazing features to the mobile industry, and you will be able to have those features from your favorite brands just 2 years later.

But for less than that price you could have purchased XZ Premium "King of Smartphones-2017" but yeah that is your personal preference. As long as you are satisfied that is fine.
