This phone is a real best! I really appreciate the fact that all Sony's flagship phones have IP68 and still have 3.5mm jack. Actually Sony's flagship phones are the only one, which offer high-end chipset, telephoto, 3.5mm jack and IP68 sertificate at the same time. And please, keep doing this with your new models. The only thing i don't like is the 21:9 aspect ratio of the screen. I find it too tall and in my opinion 19,5:9 is a better ratio and will lead to better sales.

Wish Sony gave 128GB as an option. With the SD card slot, 128GB is plenty and it would be cheaper as well

I have this phone, I wish Sony gave the options off 512gb or 1TB with 18gb Ram and 18mb L3 cache, instead off 8mb, and Xenon flash and 6000mah.

Xperia 1ii has beat ip12pm in video record. Has xperia 1iii to with ip13pm?!

I doubt this is the case, but I wonder. I had a friend who had a different phone, was complaining that 5G didn't work. Told him that he would need a new SIM card that supported it. He was unaware of that and getting the right SIM obviously fixed the problem. I see folks that don't have 5G which could be the case depending on carrier and available bands, but I have excellent 5G with my coverage in the US.

Shadows and contrast remain, and you might have to work with the settings in Pro (oddly called auto) to get the shot you want. I shot a fair amount of pictures (and have separate camera I carry) and honestly, I greatly prefer the Sony setup. Night should look like night. That said, iPhone and Samsung or Pixels are amazing at drawing all ambient light to really fire off a night shot that is bright. It would be nice to have the option for the rare times I need that quick shot that I could edit later, but overall don't want those shots blown out. Maybe personal preference...?

i hope the successor to this will have an extremely improved camera. sony is one of the most renowned camera makers and their alpha cameras are great but their smartphone failed in this category. this phone has a great photo taking app which is similar to the alpha cameras but that's all. photo quality is terrible in comparison to competitors like huawei and xiaomi. it doesn't have pixel binning and image sensors are very small: this phone has 1/1.7" main sensor while e.g. the huawei mate 40 pro has 1/1.28" and xiaomi 11 ultra has one that's even a bit larger. i mean, sony, the expert in making camera sensors and lenses, with so much experience, how can you fail making a smartphone camera? ok, it is much different from big professinal cameras but with such abilities it should be easy for them. it's a joke that they advertised this as the smartphone-equivalent to the alpha series cameras. they even made a video where the engineers of the alpha cameras explained how they developed this phone. they must be joking.

I mean sure, a real professionals won't use a phone to shoot a video but think of it like RAW. You have to have a bit of knowledge on how to handle HLG so that your video won't turn into yellowish mush like so many reviewers have done.

There's where Video Pro comes in, it shoots in 16:9 and you have manual controls, and you can turn off HLG. It was meant for the Xperia Pro-I but it works on the Xperia 1 III as well, allowing full 16:9 4K 120 fps.

Sony makes exceptional phones. The mark 3 is one of the best. It's expensive yes, and one or two other quirks yes, but still one of the absolute best phones ever made. If some sites continue to bash Sony as a tradition, this could work but only for a while before it just won't work anymore. I cannot believe I'm saying this of GSMA. This has always been my go to site for phone reviews. My loyalty to it spanning almost 2 decades exceeded loyalty to any brand. But even I have had to admit that there is bias against Sony. The subconscious effect of this bias is that I have began to second-guess every other review. And whereas I used to visit the site twice a day or more, I visit a bit less. Yes I still visit. wanted to comment when this review came out. Then I thought what would be the point. Yesterday I commented but it didn't make it past admin. Here I am commenting again. It is unfair to those who look to buy phones. But what does the opinion of one person matter? #Hummimgbird.

These guys who are always posting negative views however great the device is, what's your mission in this life? Why don't you then make a Perfect device for yourself and for us all.

I was ready to purchase this phone, but when I tried out a display unit at a Sony Store... I didn't like the narrow screen. Reading forums and comments on youtube was too cramp on this narrow aspect ratio. The 20:9 phones were pushing it, but Sony's 21:9 is way too narrow for comfortable content consumption. Even videos on youtube fills up less of the 6.5" screen.

Also the cameras are limited to 20:9 aspect ratio recording as well. In 4K there is no option to change aspect ratio to 16:9 which means I will have to crop the damn video further to get 16:9. What a ridiculous restriction sony.. come on give us full control of the aspect ratio!!

If sony releases a less wide aspect ratio phone, 19:9 or 20:9 and fixes the recording aspect ratio issue I'll buy in a heartbeat.
