Anonymous, 28 Jan 2021New cameras. More battery (rumor of more than 21W) Base... moreand it has a seperate button on the side to project the viewfinder from your camera to the phone if u have the micro HDMI port connected, new 5G antennas where it will send ur recording and data straight to the cloud as u record and stream on the go which is crazy cool... but the only sad part is when u do project the viewfinder, u cant use the touchscreen, u can only control the options on screen using physical buttons on ur DSLR, and another cool part is that u can connect the USB-C cable into ur camera have it act as a battery bank for ur DSLR

AnonD-940827, 28 Jan 2021So yet another 1 ii, just with a new Soc instead of antenna... moreNew cameras.
More battery (rumor of more than 21W)
              Base 12GB.
              New cpu.
              New stuff for Pro Apps.
              Probably Gorilla Virtus.
              UFS3.1 (5ii has , 1ii does not).
              Google button
And more stuff you will only know when it is announced.

Unlike Samsung : less this, less that, cut this, remove that ..

                AnonD-973296, 28 Jan 2021u need at least 33mp sensor to capture 8KThose quadbayer 48MP 1/2" (imx582, 586) are not capable.
Besides pixels enough, the sensor needs to be "strong " enough to record 8K.
Imx582 is up to 4K@30, while imx586 is up to 4K@90.

That's why 1ii and 5ii can only do 4K@120 with main camera.

                33.1MP is in 16:9 mode.
Sensors on phones are 4:3, this ends up as 44MP effective at least.

Uncle D, 28 Jan 2021Hmm I will look forward if it will cost 3000€ or 4000€ 😳Sooooo funny...

Anywho, I predict $1,400 ($1,500 in the US/Japan/SK due to mmWave) with no charger but preorders would come with a new headset along with 21W brick. Just my guess.

AnonD-940827, 28 Jan 2021So yet another 1 ii, just with a new Soc instead of antenna... moreWe don't know what the battery is but it's already getting a Periscope, (more-than-likely) a giant wide-angle cam for 8K video, shrunk in size (a little), and it may finally have 5G for the US (Xperia 1 Mark ii was only 4G in the US vs the Xperia Pro...trust me...it was stupid).

At least, unlike most of the flagships today, they kept the front-facing stereo speakers, ToF sensor, headphone jack, microSD card, and bezels for better grip.

Anonymous, 28 Jan 2021The 48MP 1/2" is not capable of 8K. Resolution is no... moreHonestly, I thought I read that 33MP was the minimum criteria for 8K video as long as it was a big enough sensor. Sorry about that.

Dometalican, 28 Jan 2021Wow...no portrait lens... didn't see that coming. I... moreThe 48MP 1/2" is not capable of 8K.
Resolution is not the only requirement.
Most of sensors cannot even do 4K@90.

Not going to happen. The only possibility is they use again sensor with DRAM and 50MP, a mobile version of sensor used by the new Alpha 1

Hmm I will look forward if it will cost 3000€ or 4000€ 😳

Wow...no portrait lens... didn't see that coming.

I'm assuming 48MP Ultrawide with EIS (8K recording) + 12MP main with OIS (for the quick burst shots) + 12MP Periscope with OIS and 3.8 apeture + ToF sensor

Not bad. Still waiting for the battery (4,800mAH minimum) and 5G bands but I'm REALLY hoping Sony doesn't screw this up. So far the front-facing stereo speakers and headphone jack are here to stay so good at the moment.

I hope this would fulfill all my desires in a "complete", mobile phone when its officially released; battery, screen resolution, just one good phome with all the configurations right (android).
There is not a complete phone out there (not even Apple brands), they all have one issue or the other, however preference differs, probably manufacturers are doing it deliberately to attract users to want to buy the latest versions. I await the release of the Xperia 1 iii though

I remember samsung phones can do 8K 21:9.
There is crop too, no 4320p like the 16:9 mode.

AnonD-973296, 28 Jan 2021i love how sony is putting 4K screens in their phonesIt's their signature and "sacred" feature since 2015 with their Z5 Premium. Therefore, it's already a tradition of Xperias (knowing Japanese company sticks with traditions strongly) 😁
