I just got the Android 12 update. Is it me or the colours look more pale? I think they were better in Android 11. Am I right?

Can you determine if this update/upgrade to Android 12 brought with it a change to the way 5G works? To check please go to settings > system > advanced > developer options (assuming you have it turned on) > scroll down to the networking section and tap "Prefer 5G NR Mode" > then tap on your provider (mine is T-Mobile) then select SA mode and see if you can connect to 5G. If yes then that's great. If you have to select NSA alone, or NSA + SA to get 5G to work then nothing has changed. Thanks for your help!

You ain't getting it unless they add it on their side. Guess Sony phone aint that common on your country/region hence the network provider there gave it limited functionality.

I already have; they confirmed that it is a fully dependent network feature; and they only apply it only to devices sourced within the country. Bummer.

by side with a my 2017 Galaxy A5 to transfer files and the Galaxy looked better at all angles. What a bummer as this is a deal breaker for me. I thought it was gonna be brighter than the previous model which I had used for 6 months, it is not. Maybe it s because of the 4k tech? Not sure as the 5 series is also dim.

Only they can allow or not for you to be able to do these things. So yes, you need to speak with your carrier to see if they will allow you to have these options on their network.

I've had it for less than a week now, at the end of a faithful companionship with my 4 year old Xperia XZ.

The phone is really nice, and that beautiful display is the main act for me; it's brightness, while found wanting in comparison with some of the other flagships, being generally ok for me.
Battery life, while it could be better, is decent at best under typical use, even with the 120Hz refresh rate kept on constantly. But I would like to see the Stamina mode to include the option to dial back on that when it is active. I have been using it at work with my XB900N cans, and that taxes the battery perceivably more than is the case with my old phone.
Sony flagships are a thing of the past in my neck of the woods, so I went and got me a purple 512GB one; lo and behold, I don't have the Wifi Calling feature anymore because there is not even a menu for that. Sony say that I should talk it out with my network operator; though I don't understand how a wireless operator can avail a device menu I know to be built into the Android system :(
I am waiting for the book case protective cover for this thing; while it's narrower and lighter than my previous phone, that extra unsupported length when held in one normal sized hand promises disaster in the event that one is not too careful with it. I am one of those guys who believe that aesthetically endowed and (somewhat) shock protected handsets suck as this one should not be confined by cases and all that; but after having gone through things society normally frowns upon to be able to afford this thing, that has now fallen from concern.
I was shocked to find Sony's baked in audio equaliser having been replaced with the uninspiring setup doing the rounds now. I'm of a particular sound signature, and that equalizer with that ClearBass function have served me well over the decade. Well downloading a 3rd party equalizer app has seen me back to satisfying listening sessions, but now I have one more app in my drawer I have to get accustomed to.
Overall, this is a really nice phone; prohibitively expensive for a handset, but not in a way that would raise eyebrows for someone considering competing offerings from Samsung and Apple.

                                        The name ranters again.
So, You get confused by names of mere 5 released devices per year, simply named 10, 5, 1, and Pro.
Sony has ATM the most simplest and shortest portfolio of any android mobile OEM out there...that somehow confuses you.

You ll be unconfused by the 4 series names in about 4 seconds tops.
