Smartphone announced on 14... moreIt's weird because, on said Sony website, it says they're shipping the phone (at least the black version) on August 24th. That website has problems with details at times. Amazon and B&H at least has it on the 24th that it's being shipped.

It this some kind of a bad joke? Smartphone announced on 14th April as "will be released soon". At first it was said it will be in stores on June, then at the begining of August, now at the end of August, and today I've read on US Sony's website that they're planing to relese this model on the 1st October.
I'm fedd up with waiting for the replacement of my more than 5 years old Galaxy S7 - if Xperia 1 III won't be available in Europe/Poland by the end of August, then I'll go for other manufacturer. Very poor marketing!

Yasser, 13 Aug 2021No one has any answer or suggestions about my problem ??!Not looking like it yet. Maybe not enough folks who have information specific to Saudi Arabia? Could be a network issue. Did you check that the 5G bands on the 1 III are available there? (5G bands 1, 3, 28, 77, 78 NSA/Sub6) And questions are questions, they shouldn't be demands. Good luck.

Have my Xperia 1 iii since 24 hours and take some pictures and did som webbrowsing on the internett and watcht a lot of reviews on you tube about this phone and the batterylife is much better the exceptet this phone is much better then i exceptet so for i did nt experience any overheating isues ifen if the pricetag is very high it is worth it this Xperia 1 iii has a lot going for it and is well balance allrounder that dos nt disapoint.

Hi everyone . I am living in Saudi Arabia and in my area there is 5G coverage . And my sim is 5G but i can't see the 5G .
I tried to put the sim in iphone 12 and it works .
Can someone tell me why ?

Few scattered reports of folks getting their devices early. Unlikely for the vast majority of us. I ended up ordering with Adorama, because they had the best protection plan I could find. Unknown ship date. Others are ordering directly from Sony? Amazon? Best Buy?

Good news for me is that I'm off on Tuesdays so at least I can live with it. I was kind of hoping this delay would have allowed Sony to inject mmWave on these devices but I don't see it happening (as a T-Mobile customer, it's a minor inconvenience).

The biggest OEMs get to their chipsets first and only than all others can buy them for their line of phones. Sony belongs to "the others" as it's a pretty small brand in a world of phone makers.

Nick, 11 Aug 2021They really should just suck it up at reduce the resolution... moreConsidering Sony always making some records with its 4K display since its introduction until now, such as the world's first 4K smartphone (Z5 Premium), the world's first 4K HDR smartphone (XZ Premium), the world's first 4K HDR display and recording in a smartphone (XZ2 Premium), world's first 4K HDR OLED 21:9 smartphone (Xperia 1), and now world's first 4K HDR OLED 120Hz smartphone (1 III), of course, Sony will not ditch 4K display just like that, it's already been their tradition for 6 years with spanning about 7 devices, and considering Sony really never keen on QHD display too much (only two of their devices got QHD which are Z4 Tablet and XZ3). This is also true to some specs that either popularize or introduce with their phone they have been staying in Xperia smartphones for a specific period such as IP6x rating, shutter button, Eye AF and 20fps AF/AE, Variable Periscope with Dual Pixel PDAF, and so on.
Especially, we're gonna see more display-related records from other OEMs in the future with some specs that will make their first appearance on smartphones, Sony may expect soon will combine that specs with 4K display if it's plausible.

They really should just suck it up at reduce the resolution... but kinda hard to justify going back a step when they've had 4K smartphones for multiple multiple years now

Soon the guys from Sony will announce the models with 12 month in advance....I do not quite understand this strategy of announcing the models so far ahead, it seems really frustrating for the customers.
