Props to Sony for being the only company to not use notches or punch holes on their phones
I would actually consider picking a Sony phone just because of that fact

Yeah the profit was same as what it is in 2020 but we have to consider the price increase.

Imagine the profit they would make if sales volume was high as well. That was and is my point.

I was strictly discussing about sales volume and market volume.

Then they pay nearly as much for their phones, and call the Xperia expensive even when there are bundle deals with headphones included.

haha bobo, 04 Aug 2021This device is very underwhelming compared to the recent fl... moreEven if Xperia 1 III comes up lukewarm or less for outside the target markets Sony targeting, yourself, or anyone in this forum that not keen on Sony, these are literally the few flagship phones that cover some specs that are no longer seen in mainstream flagship phones that "traditionalists" or "conservatives" find it useful. Especially when, Sony has already targeted the niche, specialized target markets like its community or some of their Alpha users since Xperia 1 of 2019 and got their hearts, that's it, Sony almost won't bother with other things that the market dictate the smartphone industry and doing its own game as long they're consistent with the path.
                  .
This phone, 5 III, Mark II flagships, and very few flagship phones in 2021 are literally the few OEMs that really keeping the options wide. The others? LG is out of the game, HTC is still fighting for its life, Samsung just dropped the MicroSD slot from the S21 series, Motorola dropped the headphone jack again in Edge 20 series except for 20 Lite, Asus split the option between MicroSD in Zenfone 8 Flip and headphone jack in Zenfone 8, Apple has removed the charger from the box, and so on. Some people will prefer the camera beast of Mi 11 Ultra, but sometimes other people want versatility in a flagship, others just prefer Apple all along.
                  .
One more thing, the camera system, processing, and UI/UX of Xperia 1 III mimics most of their siblings' traits, Sony Alpha and CyberShot, falls into traditional photography where users are the one has the control over the imagery and videography system and keeping the result just like their Alpha, rather than Mi 11 Ultra super computational photography where the software does all the processing (yeah, I'm aware of the huge camera specs of 11 Ultra here). So when you compared it by auto mode, of course, Mi 11 Ultra is gonna fare better, especially with those hardware capabilities. But if you compare in manual mode, especially those options in Photo Pro and those who used Sony Alpha, feels Xperia 1 III system is so familiar to them, able to adapt not too long, and able to output something rewarding if hit perfectly. Sure, GCam in Mi 11 Ultra gonna look superb and really blows it out of the water, but again, the one keeping eye on X1 III prefers traditional photography to take that preserve of natural color science, especially when Alpha already took over the supervision of the Xperia camera system (And TIPA Awards 2021 for 1 III in explains these sentences).
                  .
BTW, I don't care if you ratio me, I just wanna remind you that some people prefer Xperia 1 III/5 III because of some reasoning that they found it in line with their caterings, even if you find it "not ideal" from your perspective.

Is it just me that realizes the ridiculousness of reviewers or just the Average Joe saying "Well, the screen is overkill." There is absolutely NO WAY that if Samsung or Apple came out with a phone with the highest screen resolution that folks wouldn't be falling all over themselves to talk about it. Reviewers would go on an on about it. Folks would use it for discussions in their spec wars. It's only slightly more annoying than folks who complain that it's just so impossible, I mean, come on! to figure out how to properly pronounce the name. Well, a few more weeks hopefully and we'll have our hands on it....

KING DRANZER, 01 Aug 2021SONY should simply look at numbers and charts of their sale... moreWhen ther were selling 40 million units annualy they were actually loosing over billion dollars. Now with less than 5 million units shipped their profit is 250 million. I guess they are doing something right considering their 2021 lineup has a median price of $1,300 per unit.

Netflix streams at 3840x2160, but for 21:9 movies, it's cropped so you end up with 3840x1646 which is very close to the resolution on the Xperia 1 III

Why is the 5 III's telephoto sharper than the 1 III's? gsmarena noted the same for 5 II vs 1 II

This is very annoying as I was hoping to get the 1 III but it's more expensive, has worse battery life and a worse telephoto camera

                                Why hasn't Sony fixed this?!

Could the ToF sensor be to blame? Does the ToF have any benefits at all to be honest?

When did you last time see a new phone with that screen ratio? Sorry, but I just don't see it happening. Not just with Sony. All phone screens are now between 19.5:9 and 21:9. Those 16:9 times are over.

I was expecting to be 2160x3840 pixels but i will be waiting for the next one sony makes that i am hoping it has those pixels so i can buy it. Pls sony make it happen.
