How stupid of them to put a 4k display on a 6.5 inch smartphone. I think only less than 1% of people will notice the presence of the 4k display, and that's only when they look close. The 4k is a pointless feature and a gimmick that does way more harm to the phone than good. I'd rather they have a 1440p display that doesn't drain battery as much. If people thought 4k was useless on a 13 inch laptop, how could you want 4k on a tiny 6.5 inch phone?

Anonymous, 20 Jun 2021You can set 4K/60 or 4K/120. There is no 1080/120 option ... moreXperia 4K screen runs everything at 4K if it has support for higher resolution and that includes the launcher and some first party apps. If app doesn't support resolutions higher than FHD then Xperia 4K renders it in FHD but displays it through grouped segments of all of it's pixels.

However, there will not be any upscaling if the content is 4K, and only noise reduction and gradation smoothing/upscaling will be applied.

Anonymous, 20 Jun 2021Are you sure that you explained that correctly? It has a 4k... moreI believe it's the opposite. Even until now they're still doing it, wherein even apps that can't be rendered in 4K are being upscaled to near 4K quality to match the screen resolution, and that's how every content looks much better quality when viewed on Sony's 4K screens.

For all those who comment that the Camera on XPERIA 1 III is not good. Reviewers are saying the same. Well Reviewers don't know what the hell they are talking about. XPERIA 1 III has the best Camera on a smartphone. This video gives a small intake on that fact.

There is no 1080/120 option like S21.
Xperia downscale stuff to 1080, not upscale to 4K as most think.
This is why it looks sharper than 5 series screen.

KING DRANZER, 18 Jun 2021I hope you know how a Package is dealt. Unless they are sep... moreFirst of all, the comparison videos you shared, different generations of phones, the correct one would be to compare to OnePlus 8 pro and the US version of galaxy s20 ultra. Now, if you check the video for OP8 Pro, you can see multiple modules, just like the Xperia 1 ii. Are you gonna say that OnePlus put in multiple processing units as well? The Snapdragon 865 doesnt have a built-in 5G modem, but 888 does. So the multiple modules we are seeing most likely are related to that.

ASJ1901, 18 Jun 2021I know you meant it as an argument, but to be honest, i wou... moreI hope you know how a Package is dealt. Unless they are separate Processing Units they won't be soldered on separately. As when Manufacturing or when handling the testing or repairs. The Three units on XPERIA are given three different dedicated numeric codes. In case of SAMSUNG or One Plus the Main Processing unit is given single numeric code and when repaired or been tested and be found with a fault the entire thing is swapped out it is not broken down further. You tell me why would SONY be dumb enough to go extra length and manufacture three dedicated units which need to be soldered on to the board separately adding up to extra work and extra time needed to do that. They should be doing the same thing as OnePlus or SAMSUNG or any other Android brand. I wonder why they are doing that. Waste or resources and time and less efficient.
