KING DRANZER, 17 Jun 2021You can wait for JREs video down the line. But it is obviou... moreZack never did a teardown of either xperia 1 or 1 ii. He did do a teardown of xperia pro, which is basically a slightly suped up version of 1 ii. There was no mention of any dedicated processing units, if you haven't watched it already. And the thing is, we dont know if the Snapdragon 888 can or cannot handle the algorithms, because we dont know what exactly the algorithms being used are. So, i dont think there is any point in discussing that.
What i am trying to say is lets not add unproven information to the forum. Lets just wait and see if it is ever disclosed in the future. To be honest, i would love to be wrong about this, but with the lack of information out there, its better to assume it doesn't exist than to do the opposite :)

I might even get Xperia 5 regardless how good the battery will be in Xperia 1, Why ?
Because there is green color for the Xperia 5, lolz. My favorite color and it's looks good in the official images.

I hate manufacturer when they overlook the need of consumers. Every individual on the planet knows that smartphone must have a good selfie camera except Sony's mobile segment planners. I was expecting much from sony this time. The front camera blunder has cancelled my decision to switch from ios to Android.

Anywho, Xperia 1 gives you a bigger screen (4K let alone...) with wireless charging. If either of those are important, go for the 1. If not, go for the 5. You'll get better battery life, same speakers/DAC, same exact camera setup, same processor, and MicroSD card slot.

The battery life is the most important thing IMO.
But still, I am waiting for the 'Endurance rating' to decide.
If it's in 90h or more then I will get it.
I will probably use 120fps in 1080p all the time not the 30fps/4K.
I might get the Xperia 5 iii if the battery not good for 1 iii.
Is that a good idea ? What will I miss from Xperia 1 iii ?
If anybody else can answer my questions I will appreciate it.

Did you mean Xperia 1 iiii by calli... moreWaiting another year, yes. He probably means that because the battery life is not looking good out of the 2 reviews that mention it (despite leaving out numbers because every reviewer downright stinks at this part for whatever reason...).
It's up to you but I don't think next year would be HUGE upgrades so this phone would be good. It's just rumored for July 1st for pre-orders and late July/early August for release at this point.

ASJ1901, 17 Jun 2021In that se link, go to Specifications and Features, then ch... moreYou can wait for JREs video down the line. But it is obvious as the algo you are speaking of is what comprises of a specified processing implementation sadly cannot be handled or be processed by SD888. SD888 is limited and has its performance boundaries. If it were to be processed on the SD888 the Latnecy we see would be much greater than you expect and visibly annoying to the extent of being unusable.
But well you can wait and check out for JREs video of tear-down when he gets his hands on it.

Tann Hauser, 17 Jun 2021He is not actually looking, just listening to that fboy rev... moreI noticed that also. The Xperia shot was showing all of the imperfections in her skin and the Xiaomi had no imperfections at all and he suddenly says that the Sony overuses the smoothing? There was also a zoom example where the Xiaomi was simply oversharpened compared to the Xperia and he automatically said the Xperia was blurry. He also only used the basic mode for zoom shots. You only get digital zoom that way. If you want the ai digital zoom you must use the manual or automatic setting not basic. I am not sure how much difference there is but undoubtedly the AI zoom is better not worse. no doubt the Xiaomi is better after 105mm because it has more optical zoom but probably not by as much as on his review

KING DRANZER, 17 Jun 2021https://electronics.sony.com/imaging/interchangeable-lens-c... moreIn that se link, go to Specifications and Features, then check the features. The 2nd feature is about the BIONZ X Image Processing Engine. No mention of a dedicated processing unit. They just say its an algorithm.
Thats what i was saying, if it is more than an algorithm, they would mention it specifically. Like they did during the reveal of XZ2 Premium. They used a custom Image Signal Processor and they mentioned it. They even have a whole video up on how the Alpha team worked on creating the system on the Xperia 1 iii. There is no mention of a dedicated processing unit or processor. The video is up on Sony Xperia YouTube channel, you can watch it if you want.
Just to clear it out again, even though i have mentioned this before, i am planning to buy this phone, just waiting for the preorders to start. I am debating this so as to not spread false or yet to be proven info based on what Sony has done before.
I know Sony has used custom chips in their phones before, but lets hold onto that fact till Sony comes out and says its a custom solution and not a set of algorithms

ASJ1901, 17 Jun 2021No they don't. If you check their website for TVs and ... morehttps://electronics.sony.com/imaging/interchangeable-lens-cameras/full-frame/p/ilce9m2-b
You can check for your self. SONY calls it BIONZ-X Processing Engine. Similarly it calls TV Processing Units as Bravia Engine. And when we are discussing about Processing Engine here it is meant to be is the processing Unit and not the processor. Now you may ask what is the difference between Processing Unit and a Processor. Processor is a dedicated chip which takes in raw input and processes it according to specified and modeled requirement. What Processing Unit is a package which holds the Processor in addition to info of commands and spec for the functionality of the Processor and what it has to do. Hope now you understand the difference. But we call CPU as Processor which has become a norm now. But one has to realize that in a PC there are more than one processors working in tandem. Even HDD has its own Processor. GPU has a Processor in it. But all these processing units are dependent on central processing unit to tie them up and work to give us resulting output.
Let SONY call it Engine or Processing Engine or Processing Unit or Processor it is referring to a dedicated Processing Unit. You have to understand that if there is specific process that SONY has developed and calls it to be an Engine it means that it needs supportive Processing Unit which is developed to process that and have required spec. You cannot have Processor in a Graphic Card Run Windows on it as it is not meant for that. Same is the case for everything else. Processing units and Processors are manufactured to handle specific tasks and are essential to perform it as regular processors cannot handle that task.

Did you mean Xperia 1 iiii by calling it mark IV ?
If so why should I wait for mark IV ? And that means waiting for another year, Right ?
Also my point for asking question 2 was not for how to transfer data.
It's just to know if it's ok to transfer 40GB of date at one time to a new phone.

Here'... moreHe is not actually looking, just listening to that fboy reviewer.
Sony overexposed some daylight shots, Xiaomi overexposed some daylight shots. Sony overxposed some night shots, Xiaomi overexposed some night shots.
Its actually Xiaomi that overdid beauty effects in selfies there.
Some portraits were way worse looking on Xiaomi. Video was more detailed on Sony.
But the fboy rev got to say his crp opiniom there, "Xiaomi is waaay better..."
So, he believes it too. Despite what his eyes have seen

K, 16 Jun 2021Hello, I am planing to get this phone and I have 2 question... more1. install Google Messages (SMS app). Let Google Messages sync to Google (Google Backup).
Once you set up a new phone, it'll ask you to log into your google account and suggest restoring your data from a backup.
2. use an SD card to transfer all your photos/videos

KING DRANZER, 17 Jun 2021SONY for a very long time has been calling its Processing U... moreNo they don't. If you check their website for TVs and cameras, they clearly mention that they use X1 processor (Cognitive XR Processor being the latest) and BIONZ Processor for them respectively. The processor word is never mentioned for phones. They only call them engines for mobile, reasoning being there is no custom chip, just algorithms. You can even check the videos put up by Sony on their Sony Xperia channel for xperia 1 iii, they never mention a custom chip, just software alogorithms

Here'... moreLol did you even see the whole video?
The Xperia got outperformed in almost every every area including night.
Xperia might mode is terrible, turning night into day, while on Xiaomi you get different options with different time to be set for night mode, resulting in better night mode photos.
Subpar 1/1.7" sensor can't compete with premium grade 1/1.12" sensor.
Sony should have used their top shelf exymor sensor like they put on other brands to compete with mi 11 Ultra.
