Cameras are my last concern on any phone. What I like about the 1 iii or even the 5 iii are the front facing stereo speakers, selfie in the bezel (where it belongs with all the other necessary sensors) no holes or notches in the screen, 3.5 headphone jack, and the very rare notification LED!
There was a time when ALL phones had these items. I wish we could go back to those days hardware wise. Unless I am mistaken there is no other OEM that has all of these features. This is the reason for my interest.

Hello, I am planing to get this phone and I have 2 questions, I currently have Xperia Z2 which is still works fine.
1. How can I transfer SMS messages from my current phone to this phone ?
2. I have about 40GB of files (pictures, videos, etc), Is it a ok to move all of them to my new phone at once ? I am getting the 256GB version.
Won't it cause issue or something if I move the 40GB at one time ?
Thanks for answering.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021But even after learning curve of manual mode using Xperia, ... more5 minutes of tweaking? It take less than 10 seconds to set everything correctly, even then.the Auto (or Basic, like you) mode is much improved over the previous generation, matching and even beating the Mi 11 Ultra.

KING DRANZER, 16 Jun 2021Read my previous comments if possible regarding thermals. S... moreDoes it really? From what i have read and seen, Sony always emphasizes that X1 for mobile and Bionz X for mobile are engines. That means they are just software alogorithm that run on the main processor. If it were something custom, they would have mentioned it. For example, the XZ2 Premium used a custom ISP and Sony did mention it in their keynote.
Dont get me wrong, i am not trying to undermine what they have done, even an alogorithm, the X1 for mobile is good.
If you have some proof, do let us know. Else, its better to not consider them as individual chips

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021Any thermal cooling on this, as SD888 gets *HOT*Read my previous comments if possible regarding thermals. SD888 is not getting hot in there as the heat being generated is not from it alone there are total of 3 Processing units in there and out of which at-least two are in continuous use when display is on. SD888 main Processing unit, X1 Mobile the Display processing unit and BIONZ-X Image processing unit. That is why it runs hot and the heat is not generated alone from SD888. As you can see the Phone doesn't thermal throttle at all.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021But even after learning curve of manual mode using Xperia, ... moreIndeed it is slightly behind, though not by much, in fact I'm certain a software update will make it on par with other flagships. Check out how close the Xperia 1 III performs to the Mi 11 Ultra.

And i am sure there are plenty out there who would have just said negative things about the camera setup, so i am not disagreeing with you

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021But even after learning curve of manual mode using Xperia, ... moreIn my opinion, there are winners or losers only when a user compares the end result. Most people only have the liberty to compare these with their older phone or with one that is in the family. And even then, each individual has their own taste. For example, as i said before, i personally dont like the night mode shots on pixel when a person is in the frame, a kot of the times it comes out looking artificial and photoshopped. I can say this because i own a pixel and have seen the results personally. I am sure there are people out there who wont notice it. Similarly, there are people out there who like to click pics of moving subjects, their kids, pets etc. I am myself like to take candid pics of my family members. For people like me, no other phone offers what xperia does, atleast to knowledge and that is superfast autofocus, which is extremely important when the subject is in continuous motion. So, in the end, the images do come down to personal preference. Some like overprocessed images with HDR and stuff, others like more true to life pics which xperia offers.
Sure, taking pictures on a pixel is easy, but the output cant be universally liked by everyone. Otherwise, all phone manufacturers would have copied Google's alogorithm, but we can see that there are clearly differences between them

ASJ1901, 15 Jun 2021I agree on that part. Most reviewers end up mostly evaluati... moreBut that is what I said. I have no issue with reviewers reviewing the phone just in Auto mode. But in that all they have to say that there is a Pro mode which unlock the Cameras true potential and will give high level of control to achieve dedicated camera level Picture quality as result. Them not testing the Pro mode as many won't be using it is fine by me as long as they just don't claim the camera to be bad than competition. They should say that the camera implementation is not suitable for regular user or would not give pleasing result for regular user. I mean how hard is that to say. Instead of simply saying that the camera implementation is bad. If they really wanna test camera to max potential then they should do that as well. If not then at-least say that it is not perfect for regular use case and needs learning to get full potential out of it. That is the point.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021But even after learning curve of manual mode using Xperia, ... moreI ask you this, do you really believe an AI tweeking an image for the best result will look better or more exact to reality (not necessarily the same thing) than you tweeking it yourself to your own liking or to what you are actually seeing? If the answer is yes then a point and shoot is definitely what you should be using. Computational imaging is fast and very good. Traditional photography is normally slow, frustrating, tiring but very rewarding (in results and personal satisfaction). Notice how I have not used the word better as neither is better than the other under all circumstances

Dometalican, 15 Jun 2021Truly appreciate it and it's...kind of what I feared..... moreYou're welcome, pal!
.
And yeah, I feel sorry about that pal... But everything for battery life, ROG Phone 5 (Pro) does a great choice as the nearest counterpart to 1 III in some specs, though with those some specs you needed are sacrificed in the first place, especially that MicroSD card that you got from Black Friday, considering ROG Phone 5 doesn't have MicroSDXC slot :/. Hopefully, the ER of Xperia 1 III of its upcoming review isn't too bad considering its 4K HDR OLED 120Hz HRR display, considering every year, we always see the increases of ER in Xperia Premium-heir family every time. From Xperia Z5 Premium's 66hr, all way up to Xperia 1 II's 83hr.
Though, I will get my chance to purchase the Xperia 1 III in the future to experience it all by myself as I think it has the same complete specs as the Xperia XZ Premium that I'm using now, especially I take a lot of photos/videos in my XZ Premium, so MicroSDXC is crucial.

Persios, 15 Jun 2021But there isn't anything about endurance rating , that... moreI understand and aware highly of that, and I'm also eager to know the Endurance Rating result of Xperia 1 III that conducted by GSMArena, where some people are also waiting for the same thing to know what ER results that either improved, the same, or even lower, but we have to wait in, hopefully in the review that may come in a few weeks from now on.
However, Dometalican has been eager to know how the general battery life of 1 III for almost a month now since Sony launched the Chinese version of 1 III on May 20. And considering no reviewers mentioning of general battery life of 1 III until SCMP mentioned it, no wonder some people are worried how Xperia 1 III will last considering that very special display of 1 III (4K HDR OLED 120Hz HRR), so to make sure they're not in vague wondering about the battery life of 1 III behind speculations, I think giving the SCMP Review of 1 III is at least enough to give some picture for now how 1 III will last throughout the day. Just hoping Xperia 1 III ER will do better though.
But I do think, I'll still purchase Xperia 1 III as my next phone to replace my second-hand of the beloved XZ Premium that has been chugging for years now. In terms of completion of specs, 1 III has some similarities to XZ Premium such as a 3.5mm jack and MicroSDXC.

Pixel phones producing similar results in 1 sec with auto mode than Xperia can deliver after 5 minutes of tweaking each time. Manual modes on other phones make their images even getter than Xperia. Xperia loses in auto mode as well as manual mode
