Dometalican, 11 Jun 2021Considering you have the phone, can you tell us here your b... moreSure, with 4G connection on and some apps (wechat, etc) running in background, the battery drops from 90% to ~83% during the night. In the day time, I usually set the brightness to half of the auto mode and have wifi on, but set 120 hz to off. It further drops to 45%~55% with about 3 hrs screen on, including maybe half an hour gaming. In my case, the battery life is on par with II, and the temperature is also similar to II if not gaming. However, the phone gets really hot when it is charging with the 30W charger.

In chinese reviews, 600~700 is under auto mode while 400~450 is under manual mode, with full screen lit up.

alanyu, 11 Jun 2021I have never seen III twice as bright as II under a good su... moreYou haven't seen it obviously because there's very little to no scientific tests done with the phone. It isn't released in many places yet after all.
Even if TechNick's test result is not super accurate, the actual brightness of the 1 III shouldn't be too far off from the actual readings with the proper equipments.
If you say 700 to 750 nits, then it's actually really close to the other phones like the S21 Ultra, which is just under 830 nits in max auto brightness.
Another thing is, that 1300 nits is really possible with the 1 III but only for like a small portion of the screen, like 25% or so.
The smaller the screen surface area being lit up, the higher the perceived brightness will also be. Even the S21 Ultra can only achieve 1500 nits when 25% of its screen is used, otherwise the whole display will only shine up to 830-something nits at max.

Note that III is only released in China now, and all Chinese reviews I saw say it is tested to be 600~700/400~450 nit, a bit brighter than II

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2021"Photography, maybe I like the sky at night to be, you... moreSo does PhotoPro. Multiple options to make sky and everything else brighter, if one wants it. Same goes for CinemaPro.
I personally Dont like at all what all those Nightmodes overprocessing do to night scenes. Too much autoHDR overprocessing also destroys some daylight scenes. Even my 5 II overdoes it sometimes with its autoHDR in AUTO mode, getting colors and contrast all wrong, and it tends to be much more reasonable (milder) on HDR processing than other phones.
There are too much attrociously overprocessed photos going around social apps, dont know which devices made them, but Im certain them are not Xperias.
So, IMO no wonder association like TIFA awarded 1 III as best photo smartphone for 2021. They dont value overprocessed photo stuff. Thats what Instagram like apps are for.
If someone thinks that kind of photography is any good, well, then choose sth else, not Xperias.
Just please, dont blog social apps with them bad over-the-top-HDR shots, as it hurts my eyes, rather choose those that turned out not too overprocessed.

Other phones get Sky dark as well. Night mode has multiple options. The option which takes more seconds usually will render skies brighter.

It's simply can'... moreAgain, this opinion (mostly) is only your point of view (which I am not saying is wrong just not universal) the aspect ratio for example is perfect for Netflix and movies, and gives you a chance to shoot and watch 21:9 videos and multitask easier.bwhy would I want any other aspect ratio of I only watch movies. If I want (almost) stock android because of its simplicity why would I want to complicate things? Photography, maybe I like the sky at night to be, you know dark, as in realistic. The selfie camera is shocking so no getting away from that. Price is what you expect for these specs, and I would bet on Sony using better components than most companies. Overall I think it is an excellent alternative for a select group of people.
