[deleted post]Sigh, the phone has a 120hz 4k display (gimmick or not, it is there) front facing stereo speakers, SD888, 12gb of ram, IP 65/68 rating, ufs 3.1 drive, 256/512gb ROM, a 70mm/105mm telephoto lens, raw support. Among other things, the price is comparable to other flagships with similar specifications. This phone cannot be classed as mediocre. You obviously have a problem with Sony but facts are facts. Right now you can't beat most of those specifications for this price. So, unless I am missing something, how is it an overpriced mediocre phone for 2021?

[deleted post]XPERIA 1 II had most natural looking pics in Photo Pro Auto Mode. That is what XPERIA does. It gives close to realistic image quality. If that is not what one likes and would like to have warmer touch to images yes he may need to spend few minutes adjusting the settings but he can definitely achieve that. Can SAMSUNG or Apple achieve the most natural looking images that SONY does, no matter how much you dial in the settings and try to turn off or turn down the AI to its lowest state it still processes it to be bit saturated or if you manage to bring down the saturation the low end gamma takes hit. Either way it is not possible for SAMSUNG or Apple to achieve that. And once the settings on SONY are dialed in you can leave it there and you just need to do basic adjustments to get perfect image or no need of that either if one is fine with not having perfect image similar to what you get on SAMSUNG and Apple.
You tell me why did other brands go up to 2K+ as FHD and FHD+ was enough for most. Reason is that it is in deed noticeable. Similarly going up to 4K from 2K+ is also noticeable. Tech Nick made a video last year for people like you who wouldn't believe unless they saw the difference with their own eyes. Go and check it. The difference between FHD+ to 2K+ to 4K is so clearly noticeable that one cannot deny not noticing it unless he is viewing at some low resolution like 720p or lower.
Most content available online is neither 18:9 or 19:9 or 20:9 so what is your point. That all the existing Flagships are dumb and not worth the money and we should be purchasing 2017 or older Flagships as they have 16:9 displays. To be honest 21:9 is the second most used aspect ration across Internet as Some TVs and Many monitors have been using that aspect ration for more than a decade now. That is second most widely accepted aspect ratio over Internet in past decade.

notafanboy, 05 Jun 2021Mm sure, now show me where I said 60Hz wasn't good enough.I said people. I made no mention of you specifically about saying that 60hz is not good enough on a 2020 flagship. I only mention you as an example of people saying 120hz is a gimmick. I will try to keep my comments less complicated in the future.

[deleted post]I like this forum. Last year's model people were saying that 60hz wasn't good enough for a 2020 flagship. This year that 120hz is a gimmick. You can't please everybody I guess.

[deleted post]You are correct. However a small percentage of people want the best display possible and are willing to play with the settings to get it, like watching 4k 21:9 content on it and like manual photography. For that small percentage, this is the best phone. Por the rest of people then there are better alternatives

[deleted post]I don't disagree with you and I haven't used any Sony phones or support them, but have you forgotten that most video content are still in 16:9? Every modern phone (including this) would be practically useless to watch most video content (except movies, of course)

I would just like to say to the Sony people that your mobiles are very nice and cute, the accident to run, now from here too and in terms of strength, only you should do so much work .
You can also increase the width of your mobile display

Sony should increase battery capacity. Every other company coming out with 5000Mah and above, Sony is coming out with still 4500Mah batteries

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2021I have to agree with him on the aspect ratio , its one thin... moreHaving a taller aspect ratio gives off much more space for contents to be displayed on the screen. Even if you don't watch a lot of movies, you can still benefit from the 21:9 ratio.
For one, the contents that you're reading in your browser will need less scrolling as the screen can show a lot of elements compared to shorter ratios. If you're multitasking with two apps, each app can have more contents being displayed as well. When playing games, any game that can utilize the 21:9 ratio can give the advantage of having a wider perspective in the content, and the on-screen controls will be less obtrusive in the way.
In the case of physical shape, 21:9 helps give you a large screen device that you can hold vertically like a small phone. It's literally narrower than an iPhone 12 Pro Max while having the same screen size (less surface area if you consider the part of the screen where the huge notch is located at).
Regarding 4K, Sony knows how to properly adjust the screen resolution depending on the content that you're seeing. Even if the video or photo you're looking at is not natively in 4K or rendered in 4K, Sony's top-notch X-Reality Engine upscales those lower-resolution contents to near 4K quality so you're still benefitting from having a 4K panel.
Besides, don't you just love it when the 4K video that you've shot with your phone can be displayed in its native resolution on your phone as well?
Sony has already achieved more than respectable battery performance while having a 4K screen, and this year it will only get better as the battery size also increases.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2021I have to agree with him on the aspect ratio , its one thin... moreI hope you realize that you can run it at 4K all the time. This was the case with previous 4K XPERIA devices as well.
And no notch cinema-scope true cinema-scope display is really exceptional. I don't know in which country you live but when the Device launches there or if the situation regarding Covid is bit normalized around you I say go out and check XPERIA 1 II you don't even have to wait for XPERIA 1 III. That will change your mind.

KING DRANZER, 03 Jun 2021The best image quality. In fact it can achieve all the resu... moreI have to agree with him on the aspect ratio , its one thing to watch it on a full sized screen but on a device that is 2.8 inches wide it is not good .
As for 4K , if its probably only running fractionally over 1080 p for 90% of the average persons daily usage, then it seems more of a gimmick to me.
